Let me see if I can recreate it.

Drew after years of torture:

Drew after 3 months in prison:

It IS strange because Sonny and Nina haven't had a conversation about what happened since he found out. It's WEIRD.

Finn, Chase and Mount Rushmore are the three dullest male leads I've ever seen. A whole episode about Ben Franklin hiding something about his illness yet again? Go. To. Hell. This is BORING.

Laura and Anna, the mayor and commissioner of police, are besties with the local mob boss. How are we supposed to believe they're good at their jobs? This is bad writing.

They legit recast Drew with Ryan Lavery. Its sad that Billy Miller will never play the role again but Cameron Mathison is not it. This is not the character I remember. GH might as well had just brought Ryan over from AMC bc that is who is onscreen. Thank god he is not with Sam. Poor Carly and her fans

I enjoyed yesterday's show & I liked some things I do not normally. For example, Michael's conversation with Sonny. Great, excellent, I couldn't believe my eyes - and ears.

Also Willow didn't bother me either. I have nothing to say about Drewfus.

Anna being installed as the New (Again) Commish & her reading I'mJohn the riot act, YESSS, double down on that! Please no more very sad Anna!

Carly & BLQ teaming up in business, delightful! Also what BLQ said about Nina leaving Ned holding the bag when he had a head wound & couldn't even defend himself from the charges, false charges.

I like that Lois is being dressed differently.

Yeah, Joss cares so much about Spencer yet treated him horribly in the last year

Can we please get Courtney Falk back?

And, can somebody please get Zeke back to save Jordan from Brick?

And, I still say they should reunite Maxie and Spinelli and have them go off together.

Friday's best scene was Sasha and Cody hanging out with Maxie and Spinelli. Spinelli is the only partner for Maxie that I can accept. Sasha and Cody are one of my favorite couples on the show. Will the new writers keep these two pairings? I fear that both couples might end up leaving town.

They have one scene a week that lasts five seconds since the reveal at the club. Nina tries to talk to him. Sonny says leave me alone. You can't get a read on him other than he was jealous to see Nina and Valentin sharing a drink at Charlie's. Ava brought up his reaction on the island. Sonny said the topic is off limits. Is he still wearing his ring? He backed off on divorce talk to Diane when she said "Let me get started on it" and asked Michael if he would turn on him again if he went back to her. I have no idea what the show is going for since 95% of his scenes are mob related in new year. Nina might get shot to force Sonny to her side (or vice versa) or this Michael and Dex secret will show him her lies weren't so bad.

It just feels like a strange writing choice.  Sonny is talking to everyone else about his relationship with Nina instead of just talking to Nina.  It just seems like the show is missing out on an oppurtunity for drama between them by just having them co-exist and not fight or anything.

It seems like the show has really cooled on the Molly/TJ/Kristina surrogacy story, so I guess Kristina/Blaze suffer.

It makes me wonder if the show is just moving on from the Sonny/Nina romance entirely.  We get to hear enough about Willow and Michael's feelings, but Nina seems much more concerned about Crimson.  Which is fine.   I just find it a very perplexing choice.

The Sonny/Nina thing is indicative of the issues the whole show has. It’s too genial, safe, and lacks stakes. The characters are all too nice. Even Cary and Drew’s crime was boring that the angst is based on!

Some quick thoughts- when Sonny is angry with a partner, especially if betrayal is on the table, he is pretty much abusive in his treatment of them. That’s the real Sonny. That’s what is missing with Nina.

Carly and Sonny getting along with Ava makes little sense. Ava could still have relationships like with Nikolas and Trina even, but still be her psychotic self underneath. Carly and Liz should have been at each other over their kid’s issues and Liz keeping Esme secret. That’s who Carly is.

There should be someone on the canvas that is not cool with Aiden Webber’s sexuality, preferably that nightmare brat Charlotte like they set up all those years ago, especially since his brother is interested in her.

One of the things I loved in Genie’s scenes last week with Kevin, Sonny, and Cyrus was she played anger. She doesn’t care if Laura is always perfect or likable.

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.
    • I'm glad a lot of people are continuing to enjoy this show.

I haven't posted in a few weeks and have some catching up to do. But I did manage to look at the last two episodes after hearing about how good they were. I really enjoyed them. My thoughts on them: The affair/secret child reveal was very good. TMG was really good as Leslie, her whole confrontation with Ted/revealing all to the Duprees was very entertaining. I continue to love AM/Eva. She my top two favorites on the show (along with Nicole). I have a lot of sympathy for Eva and how she was conflicted/ultimately felt guilty about publicly revealing the truth to everyone. I wonder what will happen to her next, especially if she does go and live with the Doctor that is friends with Ted and Nicole. I lol'ed at how Martin/Smitty jumped up and grabbed Leslie when Eva was calling her crazy. The way they did that was funny to me. I haven't liked many of Martin's actions/his attitude especially regarding Smitty/his children, but I think it was interesting how he wanted to check Ted for his actions. And also wanted Bill to be questioned/confronted about his as well. I haven't been the biggest fan of the character of Andre, but I appreciated his calm and measured approach after the reveal and how he talked with Eva. I thought it was interesting that he knew about the affair and convinced Ted not to tell Nicole. Speaking of Nicole, I continue to love her character and view her as the heart of this show/Dupree family. I am interested in seeing where her journey goes as a character after this reveal. I'm looking forward to her leaning on Dani and (also Anita/Vernon, etc...) for a change.
