The devotion of Taylor's kids is what has always puzzled me on B&B.

I get that parents who die when their kids are young are often exalted by their family.  But, Taylor has slipped in and out of her kids lives, while Brooke has remained as a stable step-parent.  So, Steffy and Thomas's rancor toward Brooke always seems a bit misguided.

I could excuse Thomas, because he has always struggled with mental health issues.  And, I assume the loss of Phoebe was traumatic for Steffy, which is her motivation in striving for a stable connection.

But, Taylor has never been written as having her children be her first priority.  When she returned after being kidnapped by Prince Omar, her first response was to check on Ridge, not her kids.  She's never sought a legal settlement to ensure that her kids are given the same rights to FC as Brooke's kids, after Brooke got 52% of the company.  She's missed more than one of her kid's weddings.  And let's not talk about the way she dropped her IVF-conceived kid Jack like yesterday's lunch.

So, why Steffy and Thomas continue to jeopardize their romances and careers for Taylor remains a mystery to me.

Wait. I fell out of watching B&B in the later 00's. What's the story there and where's the kid?

I've totally taken to Krista Allen as Taylor. although I can see the blue collar portrayal vs. sophisticated psychiatrist from Hunter Tylo distinction. However, the last time we saw her as Taylor, she had become a mentally imbalance gun-wielding blubbering mess, nearly shooting Dollar Bill for boinking Steffie. That little blip in Taylor's storyline has conveniently been forgotten (along with the kid apparently).

So - this will seem like a cop out.  But thanks for the detailed reminder.  I remember thinking of all of this, and why Steffy and Thomas would almost - why would they even CARE about their mother when it comes to some stuff?  And this was a reminder of all of that.  I've never been a Taylor fan - well, because I watched at the beginning.  But along the way I remember some pretty awful stuff (that I'd forgotten).  So thanks.

This is not to say at all that Brooke is without fault.  Where is RJ again?  I'm sure when he returns he'll be a Doctor or some important Fashion businessperson - has been running the office in Milan for 2 years or something crazy.  But these people have kids and lose them all the time.

I feel like somehow Thomas will end up being the key to Sheila’s freedom. I mean he’s basically written in a corner thanks to the CPS stunt, so why not have him influence them to let her go? Why should the fact he shot Steffy and Finn stop him?

Because this show is written to the character's intended characterizations, not what the viewers have watched. Taylor is "good" therefore her children love her unquestionably. Brooke is bad so they hate her, also without question.

LOL the scenes of Lt Baker, Finn, and Steffy in the Forrester boardroom listening in to Sheila’s car chase were hilariously campy as hell.

I actually was expecting some type of fakeout I.e. cops accidentally pull over Pam & Charlie lol by mistake but apparently Sheila can beat LAPD on the I-405

    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
