LOL no discussion yet? How the mighty has fallen….

I actually like what I’ve been seeing with Nick and Sally. There’s a nice easy chemistry. I doubt they’re long term but should be interesting to see Summer and Phyllis’ reactions. LOL.

Too soon to decide on Tucker 2.0 although I think TSJ played the smugness well.

Noah’s club set continues to look dumb. And why are the main characters in formal attire while the extras are not?

Why is nuttier than a fruitcake Chelsea still this show? The scenes of her screaming (especially that one with Billy) are dumb and corny AF.

Am I forgetting how Tucker was or are they overplaying it (like they did with Diane) making Tucker seem like this big bad? I seriously don't recall him being a dark character with either of the previous actors in the role.

A bit overplaying but there definitely was some bad blood. Tucker was originally supposed to be a Victor replacement character hence his initial story was deceiving Katherine and a hostile takeover. The character got messy, but overall was pretty much a POS with underhanded tactics ie hostile takeovers of Jabot and Newman, manipulated Sharon into going crazy again, numerous affairs, etc. I do recall Tucker got JT full custody of Reed as JT was working for him, which ended up being a bad thing down the road.

I also thought he looked so frou-frou and goofy with that hair. Of course, he had aged since he had played Stefan, but he was so sexy on GH, and he was a charisma void on Y&R.

LMAO same. I re-read his wikipedia article and didn't remember 70% of the stories. I didn't even remember he and Ashley were married, thought they were just dating. And I was definitely watching at the time. They're overplaying him being this big badass villain.

Bill Spencer & Tucker McCall were both described as "Richard-Branson-types", but I think the problem is that Branson is not iconic enough to be a recognizable type.  I mean they both dress casually, they had those zen sand trays in their office, and both characters were involved in media companies, but there aren't a lot of defining character traits that one could pin to the CEO of Virgin Media.

If they were Bill-Gates-types or Steve-Jobs-types, then we could expect certain traits  based on those personalities (or lack there of).  But, Branson is not enough to base a character upon.  So, in the end, Tucker was ill-defined and his motives were ever changing.  Hopefully now that he's back (and wearing a tie) we'll get more insight into the character.  Many will scoff, but hope springs eternal.

I feel like I blacked out a lot of his tenure too. The show was just so bad then. Bleak and burning through stupid story after stupid story. It’s super boring now but MAB and team decided to simply torch the show.

His only "evil deed" that I remembered vividly was taking Chancellor Industries away from Kay Chancellor, and threatening to sell it piece-by-piece, but it seems like he returned it to her about 3 days later, lol.

Thank god I’m not the only one that doesn’t really remember Tucker doing literally anything

    • Yes, they did a 'premiere' of Maggie's death episodes at the ArcLight theatre in Los Angeles, arguably then the nicest movie theatre chain in the USA. Plus, Suzanne and Deidre were in a ton of scenes together during this time. Whatever happened between them happened after 2004.
    • There are episodes with Jenny (Mary Ellen Stuart) that she was in pre-writers strike.. and I know that she lasts until at least August 1988. It's a shame that the show didn't try pairing her with Rusty since the two had more chemistry than she had with Ross and that he had with Rose.
    • Was that when she put on the"Slut of Springfield" red dress and made a complete ass of herself at the CC, so of course Alan fell madly in love with her on the spot?
    • Oohh...now I'm not sure. Long did come back in '87, didn't she. She broke up Ross and Vanessa almost from her first minute back. Van and Ross are at the Country Club when Josh dumps Reva. And Reva dramatically drapes herself on the CC stairs.
    • Glad you enjoyed watching. Yes, Michael seems like fun. I am always interested in more of these niche talk show appearances.
    • Thanks for the tag @DRW50
    • Upon reflection, I think you're right, their chilliness toward each other was more recent. She said women on the show in 1984 were not supportive and she still stays away from them. She seems friendly with Susan Hayes so Deidre is the only woman still around from those days, though I guess Kristian Alfonso and Leann Hunley could also qualify. And it might be someone long gone but who is still present in Suzanne's social circles.
    • I don't know.  The animosity seems to be more recent than the mid 80s.  When Maggie was a victim of the Salem Stalker i remember reading an interview with Suzanne where she said they aired the episode(s) surrounding Maggie death in a theatre and made a big deal about it.  Suzanne was very upset about being fired and Dee comforted her and said that they were making such a big deal about it because it was Suzanne/Maggie.  I cannot find the article but I will keep trying. That said Suzanne's comments on Soapy about how some of the female cast members treated her during her illness was disappointing to hear to say the least.
    • Anyway... Kristen should have a prison lesbian story arc. And then come out and become obsessed with Marlena so we can move her on from the Brady nonsense. Is that secret room still in the DiMera mansion?
    • Oh, wow... where can I find this interview?
