I did notice McKinsey directed, which made me doubly shocked about the blocking of the scene I mentioned. And yes, "Jennifer's Hysteria" was toned down. I know Cady has a lot of fans, but I can't sign off on how she plays Jennifer just because Melissa Reeves is an awful human being.

Yeah, Julie is one of those characters I can't stand. Her, Maggie, and Anna - the meddling Mother Hens of Salem. God, even Satan couldn't kill her, but when Julie fell down those stairs, it was priceless. I just laughed and laughed.

I liked that Julie a lot.  Like others have said she was a take charge business women that looked like she had traveled the World on cruises and was used to the finer things, but also had a caring heart.  I actually enjoyed her flirtation with Victor and didn't really miss Doug at all (although I am unsure what Bill was doing at the time to prevent him from returning)

Exactly.  There is a disconnect in her acting and actions, but also her wardrobe and overall style.  Obviously, wardrobe and styling is a problem across the board for this show.  Julie to me, though, is someone who would be glamorous in her late 70's and 80's.  I don't mind Doug/Julie living in the Horton house, but I think Jennifer is much more right for it.  Doug/Julie would care about the house, but live in a fancy penthouse/townhome in my mind.

Well, I think the thing with Julie is that she just kinda pops up where ever or whenever she's needed for a couple of one-liners. I can't think straight right off my head, but she's been judgemental towards those of their wrong-doings (that's not bigoted or anything), but she's more than willing to be a hypocrite and defend the impalpable actions by those considered to be a part of her "in-group".

Yeah, it's not a big problem or anything, but it doesn't seem fitting for two people who traveled the world for years and do have lots of money.

Julie has said some pretty problematic things especially some racist remarks to Gabi, which is really unnecessary because Gabi was the villian in that situation.  I feel like Julie's very valid points get very muddied when sprinkled with insensitive remarks for "comedic" value.

The only time I did laugh at one of Julie's one-liners to Bonnie was back in the early 2000s:

Julie (to Bonnie): "Well, I see the rotten little apple didn't fall very far from the twisted little tree!"

YAAAAAS!

    • I mentioned that last week and I am glad Tate and Sophia just realized that today lol.  I think the show is just tying up some of Ron's loose ends.   You would think Brady, Holly or even Marlena would have perhaps pointed out the age thing to Tate at some point. I am not sure I like this shift in Sophia's characterization though.  MK played Sophia as someone who always defied her mom's rules-she just didn't get caught.  She was openly trying to steal Tate from Holly with no shame, showing up at the Horton cabin in bikinis to seduce him, and blackmailing Holly to work all her shifts at the Bistro.  Once the recast started the show has acted like Sophia's lived in her room, sheltered her entire life lol.
    • I thought Dante was going to put hands on Gio
    • If Jordan never appeared again, I would absolutely not notice or miss her.  So, while Brook Kerr has her flaws, she at least appears to have a pulse and a personality as Portia.
    • That's because India, or the India MKA ended up playing, was created due to the fact that both she and Kristi Farrell were liked by TPTB, but the part they both read for didn't exactly fit either one of them so the show created two brand new characters for both actresses to play (India and Roxie) and opted not to cast the character they were intending to cast (A cousin of Beth's). I think that's why the show seemed to struggle at first with how to write both India and Roxie in their first months on the show because the characters weren't ever intended to exist.  And yes.. Grant A had a great body... but I didn't find him hot when he was playing Phillip.. only when he was playing Alec on AMC which baffles me since it was the same actor in both parts LOL
    • I shared this on Twitter and good grief the comments. Steffy fans can be such vile real-life human beings over a fictional character lol.
    • I remember Michael Logan interviewed L.A. actors/production staff about the movie. Susan Seaforth Hayes said she was dying to know Susan Lucci's reaction.
    • Thanks @Franko  @slick jones You may be interested in the Elisabeth Shue mention. I have to laugh that they apparently didn't even know Teri Hatcher was on Capitol. I have scans somewhere of SPW talking with soap actors about Soapdish. Some, like Mary Stuart, were not happy. I never had a lot of interest in the movie myself.
    • I never had much of a problem with Brandon Claybon's performance as Martin. He has gotten much better though. While I enjoy his confrontational scenes, I must say his lighter, and carefree scenes from Thursday's episode are the ones that stood out most in the last 3 days (to me).   I agree with all of this!
    • I know that Secret Storm had moved back to the 4/3 PM timeslot in the final months on air, so it's possible that they were trying to employ new techniques/elements to lure the teen demographic.   If that episode was around November/December 1973, I do wonder if the owners (AHS) were still trying to shop the show to other networks still.. or if they had accepted that the show was going to officially go off the air in Feb 1974 at the time of this episode airing.
