All: character may be killed off

Two years?  Please.  As soon as Ken Corday returns from the golf pro shop, he'll be on the phone w/ Ron and Sony, wondering if they could fix it in the next batch of scripts.

If anything, I'd want Lorraine Broderick to handle Abby's (inevitable) return.  She proved at the end of AMC's network run that she could do zombie resurrections like no other.

Exactly, lol.

Frankly, I wish Abby's death WOULD stick.  Regardless of her status as a "legacy heroine" -- which is a term I hate, by the way! -- she's yet one more character who had potential but who was ruined by the kind of atrocious, logic-defying storytelling that has visited just about everyone on the show and that no character can truly come back from.  In fact, DAYS could kill off everyone at this point, and I wouldn't care.  This show is just absolute trash.

Aww, sookie-sookie now!

A bisexual?  On a daytime soap opera?  In the U.S.?  Surely, you jest!

If they go there... I agree. They have to start sticking to their guns, but the issue is that if the show goes on for another five years there's about zero percent chance they will, especially if Miller or Mansi suddenly needs some pocket change. So it's pretty dumb of Ron to go there, especially as one of the first thing he had to do was resurrect a legacy character that was killed off for short term thrills.

Agreed, can live with this, IF TRUE, since the show can't or won't write for Ben & Ciara and always have them in or on that damn bed.

Will say, if Abigail is killed off, I'm done with DAYS!

AGREE 100 BILLION PERCENT!

Also, how can we trust KL? Who or what are they?

What would it take for death to matter on Days again? I assume any character death is just an opportunity for the actor to book another role, go on vacation or take a nap. Yes, the other soaps are bad about back from the dead plots but Days treats death like a minor inconvenience.

So our best guesses are two young mothers. Just write them off for God's sake. And I don't even like Maxie. I think she's completely spent as a character and should be written off for at least 5 years. But to kill her? These people are so shortsighted.

Also Felicia doesn't need two dead daughters. That's sick.

Yeah, a death on DAYS isn’t worth much consideration based on recent experience (which is one reason why the show feels so frivolous). I know Paige’s death has stuck, but that’s a rare exception that could easily be undone per the show’s inconsistent rules.

GH is much more prone to letting deaths stick. I agree on Maxie. But these shows will always go for the big gesture that will win them a short-term viewership boost that will please the bosses or an Emmy here or there. It would also seem silly to bring Felicia/KW back on contract for that.

Yeah, no one is in the mood to watch Felicia grieve for 6 months. Especially a character like her who's been so in and out of the show the last 20 years.

If Ron got some bright idea involving bringing JJ back they would 100% reverse her death. That show does not care about death at all, it's like a cartoon.

I guess to Ron's credit he's stuck to his deaths (that weren't obviously set up as "fake" deaths like Ciara's) so far, noteably Adrienne and Laura. On the other hand, we know he didn't want to do the devil story and Corday still pushed that so if Corday has a whim everyone and anyone will be revived.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: DAYS has irreparably destroyed viewers' trust.  Audiences can no longer take seriously anything that happens on the show.  To me, that's death.

    • Thanks. I'd forgotten about that. It is odd she wasn't asked back. Maybe they just gave up.  Harley/Philip is one of those relationships which lingered on longer than it should have. I never got the sense the show had any great interest in them together beyond the first six months or so, and there was little to no chemistry between them after that point.

    • I am just so happy with the new writing. Everything feels so much more mature. The connections between plots and characters reminds me of the eighties, and I just plain old LIKE everybody. I very much enjoyed Philip's apology tour with his two exes, and both of them being gracious to him. This version of Philip is so interesting, very flawed, but trying to do better, and I do believe he wanted the brother bond with Xander very much and is hoping to get that back. Speaking of brothers, we got Xander's first ever mention of his other brother, Bo. And how interesting that Titan is also working on a cure for sepsis. If the one with Dr Russell falls through we have a back up plan. And the seamless writing continued with Sarah trying to get out of a conference and Kayla needing to get Dr Russell out of town, I love when things just make sense like that. Shout out to Xander with cucumbers on his eyes lol And under the new regime I am not hating Stalex. I think this couple was just hammered by Ron by constantly making them sleep with other people. It was hard to root for them when the writer didn't care about them as a pairing, just about getting Rob naked. I am happy to see what happens here too. Stefan got a get well card to EJ? I wonder if it had a coded HELP ME in the message. Glad Kayla turned him down. She should never forget how he used Steve as a pawn back in the day. Characters are actually remembering this stuff these days.
    • That happens sometimes on cbs/paramount. Just refresh the page and it should work.
    • In a 1997 SOD article, Ehlers mentions that she was asked to return several times, but was surprised she wasn't asked to return for her "mother's" funeral.  This was when she returned for the 60th Anniversary event. They were a really popular pairing for a few years ago.  As an older viewer, it seemed strange seeing Beth as the odd one out, but 1998 Beth was a totally different character.  She was written as a manipulative, vixen.

    • It seems obvious based on the initial material that Korte was going to take another foolish run at Jason and Carly a la 2021 and hoped Mulcahey being back would make it work, as he wrote such famous material for Steve, Sarah, etc. I think a couple good dialogue scenes came out of them together very early on, but there was never any denying that Steve and Laura have never had and will never have any romantic chemistry, plus the audience doesn't want it. So they pivoted to her with that useless dayplayer (Brennan) and now here they all are, spinning their wheels doing nothing of value on the show. I do think PM had planned to do much more with Jason's sons and that rivalry/friction, but once he was gone so was Jake. I've rarely seen any of the core mob 3 feel so totally extraneous and directionless on the canvas. Not that I mind. Anything that makes Jason easier to get rid of works for me.
    • I just edited the 1998 SOD Awards & Laura Wright won Best New Character for Cassie on GL. Also Philip & Harley won something of some name for them as a couple & when they finished saying their effusive thanks at the mic, Grant picked Beth up & literally threw her over his shoulder & walked backstage that way. I mean, it's great that Beth Ehlers is a good sport, right?

    • nothing. The story was put on the backburner while they focused on other stuff. I think thats one of the issues i have with the show in that it sometimes struggles with balance as stories will disappear for weeks and then reappear (Chelsea's throuple for example)
