I believe North was asked to appear at several points over the last 20 years, but he allegedly does not look kindly on his time in daytime and is one of the single most in-demand video game voice stars in the world now. (I think he auditioned for the first Steven Lars/ Steve Webber recast in '05, as well)

I completely forgot Sarah Brown as two characters on the same show, Carly and Claudia.  I loved Claudia!

Has anyone mentioned Rena Sofer yet?  Lois was fantastic, and even though I do not watch B&B I know that she has driven a lot of story there off and on for years.

What is so great about Kristen is that Eileen was just waiting there, doing good work as always but in a supporting role.  Charming and had great chemistry with everyone.  I loved her friendships with Jennifer and Billie.  And then she just got more neurotic about John and Marlena, and within a couple of years was completely and wonderfully unhinged.  And that was just Kristen.  The other characters just played up her range and camp factor.  And it is nothing like Ashley.

How is Laura Wright iconic? She has been on four soaps where she was literally on five days a week every week of every year. She never even went on maternity leave. God forbid she miss even one episode, let alone three months or six weeks. Yet, the ratings cratered on each soap. I stopped watching Loving not long after she joined. I even checked out The City for a while. She replaced Noelle Beck as Loving's heroine. She never did fill those shoes. Loving got cancelled. The City lasted one year. She joined Guiding Light at the perfect time, when it was in a resurgence. The ratings were between 4 and 4.5 around that time. When she left, it was down to 2.1. She went to General Hospital because she wanted to be on magazine covers. Talk about shallow. Wonder what she thinks now that there is only one magazine left and nobody has read it for years? GH had a 3.1 rating at the time. After two years of her being on every day (as were the other actresses who played Carly), the ratings dropped to 1.5. Notice a trend? That's half the audience gone. GH has been the subject of serious cancellation talk the last few years. It keeps getting renewed despite hovering in the 1.5 range consistently.

Kim Zimmer was on four soaps when they were cancelled. On The Doctors, she played a character previously played by Kathryn Harrold and Kathleen Turner. Santa Barbara was cancelled with her in the cast. One Life to Live was cancelled with her in the cast. Both her stints on Guiding Light had her driving millions of viewers away. GL fans derisively called it The Reva Shayne Show. Her second stint ended with the cancellation of the longest running program in broadcasting history. Guiding Light soared in the ratings after Zimmer left in 1990. GL was clicking on all cylinders under the wise leadership of Robert Calhoun over the next three years. GL actually supplanted Days of our Lives as daytime's most popular soap. This was unimaginable prior to then.

Now that I think about it, Kristen's character trajectory on DAYS is a lot like Geraldine Court's Dr. Ann Larimer on TD. Ann began as a good girl (to the point of being saccharine). Then she transformed into a psycho, kidnapped her romantic rival and stashed her in a mental ward, and finally got called out by the man she loved during a big party. Sound familiar?

    • I just got to it!  Assuming you mean the scene where they got into Marian's computer and it's Beaty's Marian saying "Very good, you guessed the magic word.  Today, the role of Marian Crane is being played by..." and then Wolf's Brent saying "Brent Lawrence. That's right folks, I'm baaaack.  And I have Lucy..." This makes me want to know even MORE about the behind the scenes. Like did Beaty already film the Marian clip while he was dressed up, but then they couldn't film his Brent scene so they used Wolf? I don't hate it, I really like that they were able to use Beaty's Marian in that way. And LOL yes, the LESBIAN question, so funny. This story's climatic ending is really paying off. I'm not to the end yet, but enjoying the ride.
    • I remember some of it. SO different from Billy. He was the hospital heartthrob. I have such a clear memory of Rita seducing him. I swear to God, Santana's Samba Pa Ti was playing in the background. It's funny the details you remember.  Honestly, anything that would have prevented him from being pulled into the Reva vortex would have been O.K. with me.
    • I haven't seen the episode yet. I still need to watch today's Days of Our Lives and General Hospital.

She got her guarantee. We love to see it.
    • And then, when you win, you can give him a big hug
    • Yes, this is Soapsuds. I'd like to appear on your show but Chandler Massey must be my celebrity companion. I'm surprised no one posted about Chandler appearing on the game show. He must have taped these around December, as he has the same style of hair and facial hair as he did when he did an interview for a 90s Christmas.
    • The timeline on Days of Our Lives is verging on absurd in the best way. Tate yelled that Johnny has been stringing him along for “months,” which is technically true—after all, they first discussed the adoption in March, and now it’s May. However, within the show's internal timeline, EJ was shot just two days ago, meaning Amy met with EJ, Paulina, Johnny, and Chanel at most four days ago. So when Tate starts swinging at people for backing out of parenthood, it really depends on which universe we’re inhabiting. That said, I appreciate how cleverly the EJ mystery is unfolding. They neatly closed the glaring loophole everyone spotted yesterday: the SIM card wouldn’t capture the shooting, because EJ pocketed it beforehand. I like the momentum in how suspects are being methodically eliminated. (Cough cough, like the little girl upstairs whose mother refuses to send her to therapy.) Meanwhile, setting aside the online component, I thought only men were being auctioned off. Now Cat was on the block too? And Chad somehow didn’t keep up with bidding on his phone? We understand the intent, but it would have been far cleaner for Cat to simply run into EJ while picking up a blouse she left behind at the mansion. On the other hand, I hope they don't pursue a drug dependency storyline for EJ. He’s only misused medication once, and even after previous shootings, he was never depicted as reliant on painkillers. His past crimes were never fueled by addiction, and tying sobriety into his character now feels misplaced. This isn't so much a criticism as a reflection on my experience watching the episode. As Marlena maintained a stoic front with her self-absorbed children—each eager to discuss only themselves—I found myself anticipating a quiet scene of her breaking down alone in her office. It wasn’t meant to be; I can’t fault the writers for not filming the scene I envisioned nine months after the fact. Yet, Marlena’s solitude stayed with me. She stands surrounded by family and friends, but as the pillar of strength they all lean on, she is left with no one to support her now that John is gone. It seems so much lonelier than Julie or Maggie's widowhood, because those women had a different relationship with their family and kids.
    • Today's episodes of GH and BTG showcase that when you have great writing, production, and performances, you achieve  great soap opera. Bravo.

I thought it was the doctor that freed her from the closet
