B&B to air classic episodes

Now that CBS is going to air actual classic episodes it's time for a thread.

I guess May 4 is not a Stephanie Forrester week, but a best weddings week:

Then, as THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL comes down the aisle, storylines will include:

On Monday, May 4, Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo) desperately attempts to escape from Prince Omar (Kabir Bedi) to let Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) know that she’s alive, while Ridge and Brooke (Lang) have their epic first wedding in front of friends… and foes on the beautiful beach in Point Dume, Calif. The episode originally aired Sept. 30, 1994.

On Tuesday, May 5, Steffy (Wood) and Liam (Clifton) are wed in front of the iconic Opera House on the glorious Sydney, Australia harbor. While the ceremony progresses in front of family and friends, Wyatt (Darin Brooks) eases his sorrows over his brother’s marriage to his ex-wife with several drinks. The episode originally aired March 22, 2017.

On Wednesday, May 6, Katie (Tom), the only woman to have ever stolen Dollar Bill's (Diamont) heart, walks down the aisle to become Mrs. William Spencer, Jr., with her sisters at her side, at the San Fernando Valley home where she was raised. Legendary CBS star Patrick Duffy (“Dallas”) guest stars as Katie’s father, Stephen Logan. The episode originally aired Nov. 13, 2009.

On Thursday, May 7, Eric Forrester (McCook) and Brooke Logan (Lang) say “I Do” as Eric’s ex-wife, Stephanie (Susan Flannery), and Brooke’s true love, Ridge (Kaye), watch without objection. Eric then takes Brooke on a romantic and surprise honeymoon in a magnificent hot-air balloon in Palm Springs, Calif. The episode originally aired Jan. 8, 1991.

Wrapping up on Friday, May 8: Having overcome astounding obstacles, Hope (Kim Matula, in a role currently played by Annika Noelle) and Liam (Scott Clifton) joyously say “I Do” in front of family, friends, and the many residents of the beautiful city of Puglia, Italy. Frustrated and brokenhearted, Steffy (Wood) updates Eric (McCook) and Stephanie (Flannery) on the dramatic events transpiring in Puglia. The episode originally aired June 26, 2012.

B&B works different than most shows. With B&B you had the big four Brooke/Ridge/Eric/Stephanie. You couldn’t touch those four. If Ronn Moss didn’t want to do it anymore, they should have killed him off.

I agree. I don't buy Thorsten Kaye as Ridge or a Forrester and I don't think you can recast such an iconic, long-running role.

With that said, I do wonder what Robert Kelker-Kelly would do with the part.

I wonder if they would have killed Ridge off had Susan Flannery not decided to leave at roughly the same time as Ronn Moss.

I don't know, the way Brad Bell spoke it seemed like he was always pretty gung ho on recasting Ridge. Ronn and his wife made it VERY CLEAR how they would feel about recasting Ridge and Brad did it anyway.

Ridge was your quintessential pretty boy. Thorsten Kaye was cute for 3 years in the 90s, he's rugged and weathered and doesn't look like the scion of a world-renowned fashion house. He looks unkempt and disheveled and out of place on B&B. A total misfire of a recast and I think they actually know that, I don't think the show is at all invested in him as Ridge but he's there so they're going to keep chugging along until he quits (unlikely) or the show ends.

That's show business baby! You don't want to continue playing a role handed to you 25 years ago? Someone else will!

Anybody ever buy this release?  It's a great set to have.

Hubby got me it for Christmas, along with a "Most Shocking Moments" DVD of 10 episodes (though most "shocking moments" are in the 2000's when I wasn't watching as much)

Brooke's Bedroom episode was so much fun I loved Taylor at home all but clutching her pearls and seeing Brooke being bad to torment Stephanie and Taylor and the ending scene wkth Stephanie, Brooke and Ridge falling onto the bed.

The 1991 honeymoon episode was an odd choice to represent Brooke but I think it represents the Big Four well and how complicated they were. I actually liked how over the top romantic they made the honeymoon.

I hate what the show turned into overall with Brooke and Stephanie becoming BFFs and this ridiculous Ridge recast. Even if they moved past the Big Four with Steffy/Liam/Hope,  which I initially liked they just have stories with no meaning and long term impact and the first chance they have potential for gold they ruin it.

Bold was renewed for two years today btw lol

I saw that! That pushes B&B through to it’s 35th year. Haha at least B&B was able to end on a cliffhanger. I heard some chatter that B&B was looking at possibly resuming production next month but hadn’t heard any follow up unless we see Sally and Wyatt yelling at each other over Skype LOL.

I think they will be back early July, We will see, I hope they get alot of things filmed before they might have to shut down again because of that second wave

It's an accomplishment considering what's going on!

They'll probably rush through filming when they get back and it will be really crappy lol...

It's too bad other soaps haven't done this (yes, I know about those brief GL and ATWT releases--but I'm surprised Days or Y&R haven't).  Why 16 episodes though?  Wouldn't it make sense to end at 15 or 20 (for a full month?)

There's a German release under the same title, except it's 25 episodes (five discs) per set and they've released 8 volumes--the first 200 episodes (which I guess is almost the first year).  They are in English and German but in European PAL format I believe.

At least they released two. I agree it should've been 20 episodes.

I really wanted the German release as it had so much more content but I didn't have dvd player that could play them. I own a blu ray player and that's where I play all my dvds from soaps to TV classic shows to movies.

I wish we'd get a YR dvd release but I'm not banking on it.

Haha I was still hoping that at least Y&R and B&B still do some silly Zoom special episode to at least do an update or something lol. I wonder if there’s been any rewrites to either show since the suspension to address whole COVID-19 thing. They could easily write it in if they wanted to do a like time jump.

But second wave? I wonder if that’s why The CW has broken up their 2020-2021 schedule into quarters, with none of the big dramas coming back until Spring 2021.
