We are living in a nation where about 30% of the population has been poisoned by disinformation.

Today I was again at my volunteer job at the nursing home when a couple came in with their 20 something son. The couple chose to get tested while the son refused. The father came up positive. So we give them an info packet on what to do next and show them all the door.

On the way out the son says to his dad " THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T GET TESTED".  Luckily I didn't compose myself in time to answer that.  Really, you selfish little bastard?? Thank God his father had more sense and did the right thing before he exposed a whole wing of elderly people.

@TaoboiI feel what you are going through. Even in the middle of a crisis people are entitled fools. So many people are putting themselves first without any thought of society as a whole. The selfishness is unreal. How we manage to survive as a species I don't know.

@Juliajms it actually felt somewhat decent today though there were still some people who wanted to act...shall we say intelligently challenged...today (really you are going to walk up to the front desk without a mask when there are signs all over the place saying mask mandate is back to ask if there is a free coffee stand downstairs WHEN THERE ARE COFFEE MACHINES IN ALL THE ROOMS FOR FREE, but dare to ask...why would I wear a mask when I am just asking about free coffee?). A good thing since my brother decided he wanted to reveal he got covid.

For now, mild symptoms (he got his second shot in September) and it seems like he had it for a week. Since my brother has preexisting condition, I am still worried. But happy he is at a job where he has plenty of pay leave and vacation time to draw on as he quarantines from his wife and kids. Since he was skeptical to begin with of covid and the vaccine, he's equally skeptical of shortening quarantine time by that new CDC guideline aka he'll be sticking to the 14 days thank you very much.

So one more week to go.

My friend is a doctor at a clinic that does covid testing.  He said that two weeks ago, covid test results were 33% positive. This past week, the tests are resulting in 50% positive.  He knows the science, but he is still stunned by the accelerated transmission rate resulting from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day gatherings.

Have people been hearing about that massive traffic jam on I-95 in VA?

Someone asked the question of why there were no National Guard to hand out food, water and supplies to stranded motorists and someone else replied-

"They're all helping in the ER"

So anyone who doesn't believe that rising COVID infection rates have an impact beyond numbers should really think about a scenario such as this.

It's not just about available hospital beds, it's about the impact of stretched resources and overtaxed personnel.

^^There is some question of whether Omicron, in its infinite power to dominate other variants (even an arguably more virulent strain like Delta), may just dominate this newest variant as well.

That Variant was found in November and Omicron already kicked its butt

Mom, Dad & I had to Covid Test after a cousin we saw last week turned up Positive. Thankfully, we are all Vaccinated & boosted. The PCR Tests came back negative for all three of us.

Glad you and your parents tested negative.

Glad to hear confirmation that this variant predates Omicron. I suspected that it would be along the lines of a Lambda variant. I mean Omicron has become dominant over Delta and Delta had been pretty damn virulent.

    • Thanks for that. It was great to see her in an interview. She's very likable. Although it was somewhat confusing. What new soap is she talking about going on audition for in 1973. Was it The Young and the Restless? The editing around that part was weird and choppy. I felt like there was a chunk missing or something. And I'm not sure why she was saying she got colorectal cancer from HPV and said it's because she never got the HPV vaccine but then said she's never had anal sex. I'm not a doctor but that didn't seem to make any medical sense. I don't know. Maybe I'm tired. It just seemed like some of this interview didn't make sense.
    • If it helps any, the last script cover from the Elman papers that I have is from episode #3,736 airdate November 15, 1977. Writers are the Hollands with Frank Salisbury.
    • B&B really does look incredible. The lighting and the polished sets have made a significant difference how visually appealing the show is now.
    • I found the problem with the Labine era was that the show lost some humour when the Labines came on and it could be dull. They also didn't seem to understand some of the characters. As others have said, it looks fantastic in comparison to the next regime but I just remember boredom being the primary response.
    • Something I didn't realize: Frank Ashmore, who played Monica's investigator Corrigan in 1981, was also Victor, the third guy in the cockpit, in Airplane!
    • Thanks, maybe I will skim through those episodes.  I have previously binged late 1985 through early 1987; April-June, August 1992 (I skipped Carlo Hesser murder trial), Jan-March 1995 and I began watching in 2006. I just struggle to stay consistent with routines especially binging routines haha
    • I could've sworn we went over the Bobbie thing a while ago, and saw her introduced to Rick and Lesley as "Nurse Barbara" in very late '77? Or was that early '78? I know the clip is online. Jackie always credited Marland with creating her IIRC.
    • Thanks.  Loon Lake - very on the nose. With that "dad" outfit Bo looks even more like Cassie's father...
    • Luna parachutes herself into Llanview at the end of September 15th 1991.
    • That lengthy flashback does make me wonder if she threw out a lot, but I agree it may have been too easy an urban legend. Would these have been her very first episodes? I imagine you could feel the big difference when Bobbie arrived, alongside the Quartermaines filing in, the return of Heather, and Lesley/Rick/Monica/Alan heating up. It does remind me that there must have been some dud moments in the 60-minute format we just don't see because little of the period is available in full.  I wonder how much longer the Dantes lasted under Marland.  David Hamilton is so disgusting. I appreciate the show making him disgust as some shows when they have stories about older men or women manipulating teens aren't as honest.  I can't see this Rick being friends with him. Chris Robinson's Rick, on the other hand, I could believe.
