Well...news outlets seem to be hinting that Governor Newsom is going to lift the stay-at-home order though things (and the ICU) are still bad.

I know numbers had lowered, but not enough to lift it. They are still vaccinating everyone (I literally have a vaccination super center next door right now) so I find this shocking.

Still...negative for now. One of my work bosses has made testing mandatory.

Jealous but happy for them at the same time. I would probably feel so less stressed if I was allowed to dance. I love dancing.

lol. Some people are bit rougher with the shots and it does seem like some people may stab people when they give shots. When I got mine the lady was gentle and it was the same when I got my flu shot back in October. Hopefully people will be gentle most of the time.

I think if someone is a bit leery of shots it helps if they tell that to the person who is giving it to them. And hopefully that will cause them to make sure they are more gentle. I'm glad your parents have been vaccinated and I hope they are doing well. My dad has been put on the list to get his shot from the VA and I hope he gets it soon.

I am glad to hear you are feeling fine. I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine this morning. I work for the federal government/military and deal with a bunch of military service members on a daily basis. I was able to be grouped into the 1b group (non medical essential/frontline group of workers). I feel fine. The shot didn't hurt. Some of my co-workers went and got their shots this past Friday and they are feeling fine. Most of them said the worst thing they experienced was a little soreness in their arm, and one said she felt a little fatigued after the second day, but overall they are doing fine. I'm glad I got the shot and my second one is scheduled for February 16th. The military is doing a good job of getting people vaccinated where I live, some people are already getting their second doses.

They are offering it for free for different groups of people on a walk in basis. People that qualify for this shot should take advantage of getting it while they can. (Barring things like having allergies, being unable to take the shot for some reason).

I hope your parents are able to get it soon. They may be able to. I think that the next group of people that might be able to get it include elderly people that are in their 60's but under 75. I know those people are included in the next group that the military want to vaccinate. My dad technically is in that group, he's in his early 70s. The VA is supposed to give him his, but if not he could get his shot the same place I got mine, though he might have to wait a little longer. Maybe the next group of people in general (including non military people) will feature more elderly people under 75.

I think that if people are able to get this shot, it's a good idea for most of them to get it. I do believe that most people will be fine after getting this vaccination. Sure, there is risk in getting it, and there will be people that could suffer more severe reactions, but overall I think that most people will be okay after they get it. The people with things like allergies shouldn't get it, but I believe that most everybody else will be fine. And I think it will give a lot more people peace of mind, especially those of us who have high risk/high exposure jobs.

Thank you soapsuds

These pharmaceutical companies will likely have to modify their booster shots in order to better neutralize these recent variants. Supposedly, the current Pfizer and Moderna vaccines cover the British and South African variants but not at the percentages that they had hoped. It may be enough though, but I imagine they'd want to improve that.

    • If those two crazy (and I do mean crazy!) kids can't make it, where's the hope for the rest of us?!

    •   Sonia was on the director rotation at DAYS. On BTG, Sonia had been credited as a producer.  May 23 was her first episode directing BTG.
    • And Kim Zimmer also gave interviews where she admitted to some of her behavior and she apologized for it. I give her credit for admitting her wrongdoing and taking responsibility because other actresses would not have done that.  BTW, I will miss John Payne from your avatar.

JFP's GL post-1993 may have needed Kim Zimmer to try to salvage the mess that was made of the show (and that turned out to be another disaster), but GL post Zimmer's departure was fantastic. Forbes showed GL didn't need Zimmer as well. I also think Santa Barbara didn't help her ego either since Sydney Penny got the attention, and most SB viewers loathed Zimmer's Jodie character. To be fair, I think a big part of the problem was the writing and the producing, but since Zimmer thinks Rauch is such a genius, that's on her.
    • Forbes also likely got the primetime career Zimmer wanted - never a huge star, admittedly, but a stalwart, able to dip in and out when she saw fit and generally not paying an industry price. Zimmer felt extremely hurt by her lack of success after leaving GL and even more hurt when JFP made it clear GL had moved on from Reva. (JFP, self-sabotaging as ever, soon made it clear that was not actually the case, but with a stronger producer, GL could have genuinely moved on from Reva) That's interesting. I suppose that's what they always say, and there was some precedent as Passions had moved to Direct TV. I guess Passions being canned so fast (faster than many expected, I think) put a big nail in the coffin. And we haven't had any revivals or moves since that have worked, even though Neighbours came close.  I'll try to find that promo.
    • Oh wow - I must see this promo!  Anyone have a copy/link to it? I can't believe they 'accidentally' did that, and if so, I wonder if someone got in trouble haha. Kim did mention in Chapter 1 that the 'suits' dangled some hopeful carrots for a long time, saying they would pitch the show and try and get it on another network or online somehow where it would be cheaper. They even heard rumors that Lifetime would pick it up, so it gave some folks hope for a little while, but sadly nothing came of it. Kim said she was already resolved that it would never go anywhere and she had peace of mind about that shortly after the announcement.
    • Same. I absolutely agree. It's a real shame, too. I had a lot of hope for the Character.
    • He's been written that way for about twenty years, so I suppose it is fitting. They should have done repair work, but I still think this return was pushed on Frank by ABC and he sandbagged the whole thing. If so, I guess he got what he wanted. I mostly feel bad for Becky Herbst. I've never loved Liz, but she should be given more respect than she is by TPTB, rather than always being a step away from losing her job.
    • Wow. This show is ridiculous.
    • There's a 1997 promo somewhere of Annie vs. Reva which ends with Reva throwing her purse across the room. IIRC, from what soap magazines at the time said, that was not an actual scene but was (allegedly) a real confrontation which somehow got into a promo.  I do wish Wheeler had moved faster - maybe that was as fast as she could go, or maybe she took for granted that they would stay on. I know the show probably couldn't have improved drastically, but I do wish they'd had one year, and Irna's babies could have ended at the same time.  I have already spent enough years comparing the GL and ATWT finales, but I agree. As someone who quit watching GL in disgust around the early/mid '00s the show did remind of its old self at the end. ATWT's ending was an extended Goutman ego trip. One show had a poignant death of a character whose passing was long overdue...one slaughtered a vibrant young man so we could get James Rehborn (wonderful as he was) playing chess for homophobes.  The Grant Aleksander interview I posted a few weeks ago had him talking about learning GL was canceled because Ron Raines called him at Home Depot. He said they knew it was probably going to happen, but that believing something will happen and it actually happening are very different.
