My lingering question on Depp case is - If public perception is that she's lying, how can they prove defamation?  I mean if "all of social media" questions Amber's validity than how could an obscure article that she wrote have ruined his career?

It seems like an illogical approach

Johnny Depp filed for defamation, claiming the op-ed Amber Heard wrote for The Washington Post, caused financial losses to his career and claims it damaged his ability to profit from his vocation. And the case, if you've followed or even watched, is dissecting whether or not the opt-ed was true, etc. They've gone over their relationship, images, have expert witnesses, etc. And, having watched, the burden to prove on Depp's side seemed difficult, but, as the case has gone on, I do believe his ability to win his suit is strong. At this point, it's about Depp re-claiming his reputation. Almost everyone who has testified claims that even under the influence of alcohol and drugs, Depp's demeanor did not change, which is a major claim made by Heard that when he was under the influence, the "monster" came out and he became abusive towards her. But Heard's stories do not add up.

I've been following the trial, and I find the article about misinformation interesting.

However my query remains, because it is a civil trial, and he would have to prove damages in order to win.  So, if the public perception is that his ex-wife is a con artist and a liar. than how could her statements damage his reputation?

E.g. - if a known plagiarist wrote a bad critique of a novel on Amazon, the author of the novel would have no standing because everyone knows that the plagiarist is an untrustworthy source

The best defense against slander is the truth, but this trial based on defamation.  If Mr. Depp wants to re-claim his reputation, I would have suggested a fluff piece in GQ magazine, not a trial with videos of him overweight and stumbling drunkenly around his kitchen.

In which Kasie Hunt plays Twister with herself to avoid simply saying 'blocked by Republicans' and using every other synonym possible to avoid blowback from either her bosses or her GOP access:

Jack Dorsey stepped down from the Twitter board, many say should come as no surprise, given that it was expected but the timing is leading others to interpret this as a sign that Jack is trying to distance himself (belatedly) from Elon Musk, who he had been reportedly in favor of buying Twitter, and also taking it as a signal that Twitter is in disarray.

Sorry for the punctuation issues, but anything involving these clowns doesn’t inspire me to spend more time and diligence as I can barely stand them.

    • Oh yes, that would be grand!  But Ken Corday will never allow that.  No executive-producer wants to hear people rave about how good his show "used to be".
    • Not just that but Im sure she will be blamed for trying to poison Laura with potassium. Remember when Nicole started to put the pieces together that someone may have tampered with her IV? She dropped it bc she got distracted with the party, but they did make a note to mention that Eva lied and sent a card and flowers there on Nicole's behalf. Im sure they will say that that was just a cover for her to be in Laura's room and come for her
    • Susan named her son after her father, Richard, and they called him Dickie, for short. David had bought Dickie a play swing but it was too big for him. One day, while David was babysitting, he put Dickie in the swing, took his eyes off of him for a few seconds and he fell out of the swing, hit his head and died. Susan was so devastated that she shot and killed David only like a few episodes later.
    • Mickey Horton got her off, temporary insanity. Edit to add: If only Peacock would air this storyline.  Edit to add: David was supposed to be watching the child. Wasn't. Child fell out of swing, broke his neck. The show had the camera focus on that empty swing, just barely moving ...

New interview!! I was like Penny, aka Janet, and said, "That's the end???"
    • You're really in for it, because those rants continue for 3 episodes. I was struck by how ho-hum those cliffhangers were. It was like the writers ran out of gas.
    • New Tomas pleaseeeeeeee!!

    • Thank you for the clarification, but Susan didn't name her child after David.  It was Julie who named her own son David.   And how/when was Susan's son killed?  And didn't Susan kill David Martin and stand trial for his murder?   The genius of Bill Bell -- truly.
    • I truly wish we could see more of her work on DAYS. And more of her early stuff on GH, but at least we know that Corday’s DAYS vault is virtually complete, especially compared to GH. Lesley was a pivotal character. I think the scenes with the confrontation with Monica are so good because there is a lot of character in those lines and performances. Monica is ferocious, desperate. And Lesley is not a victim, she holds her own and calls Monica out, playing her own form of anger. Evenly matched. Soap confrontations have largely forgotten that both sides should be evenly matched, even if someone has wronged another. To me, that scene is easily in my soap hall of fame. They didn’t make enough of her return, which has always bothered me. I would have loved for her to end up vying for control of the hospital when Alan was incapacitated by drugs, helping him through that crisis and finding herself at odds with Monica again on a different level, not as romantic rivals. She had such a long career! Acting in radio shows as a little kid, through her GH spots as few years ago. That’s quite a ride.
