Curt Dawson  acted in As he World Turns (I think as Elizabeth Talbot Stewart's brother), The Guiding Light (maybe when Dr. Werner was working in England), Another World, Search for Tomorrow, and The Adams Chronicles.

I don't know about his sexuality, but Larry Riley (from The Doctors) also died from the AIDS virus.

Howard Rollins (from Another World) did also.   And Gene Lindsey (Dark Shadows, The Doctors) was also a gay actor.

I was going to put on my previous post that he had a rugged look to him that I loved. I don't recall if his character on ATWT abused Julie or not but always thought Frank was such a better catch than fugly Caleb. There was no competition....LOL

And yes even though he had that masculine look he was very boyish.......I don't think I'd use to word butch to describe him though....LOL

I remember seeing on Datalounge that Paul Stevens might have been/probably was.

I don't usually ponder this kind of thing too much, but in watching some of the late '80s Another World episodes available on YT, I ponder about Kale Browne sometimes. Based on absolutely nothing other than something I just can't put my finger on.

My friend did King Lear with him and said that he was an absolute monster. So much so that the cast was not on speaking terms with him. I found this to be so sad and disappointing as I'd always appreciated his work. I read that Beverlee McKinsey wanted him to play Alan after Christopher Bernau left the role.

I always lusted after Paul Stevens on AW.   So handsome!  There were so many good looking men on the soaps.  Anthony George

was another... Robert Gentry, Chris Bernau, Joel Crothers, Michael Corbett. They didn't call it love in the afternoon for nothing!

Is it confirmed that Gregg Marx is gay?   Another dreamboat!

Yes.

There's only one man on daytime who STILL could make my toes curl, and that's Philip Brown (ex-Buck, LOVING/THE CITY; ex-Brian, KNOTS; ex-Neil, THE COLBYS; ex-Steve, SFT; et al).  I saw him again recently on a commercial and...uh huh....

I read that, too.  God bless Bev, but I don't think that would have worked.  Chris Bernau always found the humanity within that character.  He could make me care about Alan even when Alan was behaving abominably toward others.  I think Daniel Davis' interpretation would have been too smarmy and Snidely Whiplash-esque, much like Ron Raines' version became.

OTOH, I wouldn't have minded DD putting in a short-term appearance as Eric Luvonaczek (sp?).  I think he could have played the struggling (musical) artist/sniveling heel very well.

    • They should have paired him with Suzette, or Suzanne, whatever. Jerry and Frances Fisher feel like a natural duo.
    • This was one of my favorite soap friendships of all time. Mishael and Gina had AMAZING friendship chemistry. And Phyllis at that time was exactly the friend Hilary needed. God why did you have to remind me what we lost
    • Tracy was handing Anita the business today and I was here for it! Martin and Smitty’s daughter looks like she’s related to the son’s love interest I really enjoy Martin and Smitty together now that the two actors are much more comfortable in their roles. Just wanted to add I love how Vernon is written and portrayed as opposed to the Victor Newmans, Kiriakis, and Stefano’s were written. It’s nice to see a patriarch that actually loves their family.
    • I said it before---Guiding Light is probably the soap that most clung to family names. I mean, the only reason to even think about naming that child Bert B(whatever) is that you've been writing all night, you start shooting in two minutes, and someone inserted it as a joke and the wrong rewrite got sent out to the actors.  As much as I criticize Infinity, the fallout from the shooting is what sweeps is all about. The moment when Rick and Phillip know Mindy could spend that money--OMG. Billy's ready to lock himself away, Sally tears Reva a new piehole, Ed's performing life-saving surgery and Lujack bein' all Lujack. I actually like that cop--I think his name is Saunders? He was a rarity, a cop who wasn't dumb. Listening to that Locher room with Krista and Mark Lewis, I think Kurt would've lasted longer, had Mark not had an out in his contract to do a play. As Mark explained, a new EP came on, didn't want him to do the play and kinda warned him that he might not have a job to come back to. Mark did it anyway (he had friends backing the play) and sure enough, they killed Kurt off. In the long run, I don't think they had a lot of story to do with Kurt and Mindy, who hadn't gone through much before getting that extravaganza. But it did seem to be short sighted to kill him off that soon. Ross wasn't driving story in '85, that's for sure. He had defended Lujack in the Andy Ferris murder, and he rides herd on Phillip as India tries sinking her claws into him. He did send Trish off to Europe, and he defends Billy and Mindy. But yeah--sometimes they just "forgot" about Ross until someone needed a lawyer. While there was always a fight around Spaulding, it was hitting a dry spell in terms of people connected to it to interact with.

    • So I’m currently on May 7th. Should I just go ahead and skip to this week or last Friday? Though I do want to see Xander beat up Phillip. Maybe I should skip ahead and then go back. Thoughts daily watchers?
    • I really loved the scenes with Smitty & Martin today. Mike Manning did a really great job and I felt for Smitty. I am genuinely buying them as a couple and I really want to know more about Smitty's family and back story.
    • Today was so so good. Everyone has basically said all my thoughts but I did want to add: I was anxiously waiting for Tracy to find out about Gio and the show didn’t make us wait long at all. Jane Elliott was perfect today.

    • Part of a newly uploaded episode said to be from August 1984. If so I don't think any of those were around.  The show really seems like a stranger at this point. Grant Show sans shirt...naturally. At around 15 minutes they use the music cue that they had been using from the earliest days of the show. When did that stop?
