When I first saw this article I figured it was just a show with Morgan Fairchild, but as I read the article it looks like a Who’s Who of Soap’s! Robert Newman (GL), Kristen Alderson, Ilene Kristen and Scott Evans are all in it. Gary Donatelli, a long time OLTL Director is directing.

Looks like its being pitched as a half a half hour serialized drama geared towards the LGBT community. I’m hoping that since it’s in Variety it’ll be more high budget than some of the web soaps and hopefully will find a home on one of the streaming services!

A lot to unpack here!

Gary Donatelli directed for OLTL up through the Hulu revival. I'm supportive of the many vets involved but it sounds like a bargain basement thing.

And little Mark Indelicato? The gay kid from Ugly Betty? I didn't know he was still acting.

Part of me thinks this too.

The other part thinks that too often these productions think they can throw a kitchen sink worth of issues in front of the camera with not enough consideration for quality of content and then believe they are entitled to viewers just because it's there and they believe the audience is desperate to see themselves onscreen that they will forgo quality.  I hope this is not the case, but there are so many charismatic and talented LGBTQ actors and performers that they didn't need to shoehorn Perez Hilton in.

Especially in NYC with Broadway! LOL, there would probably be  enough highly talented prospects to fill an entire city block who would audition (regardless of the show's budget), especially if the scripts are good.

And Robert Newman's character is described as "deceased" so I wonder if he'll just be appearing in the pilot or if this is a "memory" series with lots of flashbacks ( which I would certainly prefer over a ghost).

Robert Newman has always read gay to me. I mean, he plays straight roles very well but I've always found him erudite enough to play gay. (And he's hot as hell)

And he just appeared as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray in Michigan! And he’s still definitely hot as hell!

It’s a pilot that they’re filming, not a complete season. I’ve encountered the creator on my trips to Provincetown over the years and on his Facebook page, he mentions it’s a pilot. Apparently they were filming Morgan crashing a funeral (presumably Robert Newman’s character). The creator, Tom, has done some cool work in both Provincetown and NYC and is very well respected.

He's definitely hot...and one of the reasons I was interested in watching - not because he's hot but because I do enjoy him as an actor and he seems like a great person - not that his being hot hurts at all. However, I don't know if I'm all that interested but I will give it a try.

    • I'm not sure I agree with Bernstein's children on that. Bernstein's life and activism here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Bernstein#Social_activism_and_humanitarian_efforts
    • Thursday & Friday's episodes were excellent. The build-up was most definitely worth the wait (2 months). TMG, I can't give her enough accolades. AM, was also absolutely incredible. I think the fallout is going to have a ripple effect. The little clues that have been dropped,  hopefully, will weave seamlessly to reveal even bigger bombshells for the Dupree's and Martin.
    • Thanks, msn drives me nuts on the one hand but on the other hand their headlines appeal to me. And, I just don't do FoxNews.
    • The link doesn't work.  The actual link is this: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/composer-leonard-bernstein-s-children-request-his-music-be-played-in-the-kennedy-center-in-rebuke-to-trump/ar-AA1E7gw5 That's a reprint of a FoxNews article. MSN reprints stuff from many sources. You can tell the source from the logo above the headline on the msn page. The FoxNews article is describing what Leonard Bernstein's children wrote -- as a "letter to the editor" of the New York Times. Instead of reading it filtered through FoxNews, here is the original: "Our Dad, Leonard Bernstein, Would Want His Music Played at the Kennedy Center" https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/02/opinion/kennedy-center-leonard-bernstein-protest.html Non-paywall archived copy of the same NYTimes letter, without commentary: https://archive.is/QaLqD
    • Might be a long shot, because I can't find a thing online about it, but I was Googling the actress that played Nell Cleary (Frank's cop friend that went through academy and then became cops together during the entire Brent Lawrence storyline). To my surprise, she passed away in 2011, at the very young age of 45. I can't find her obituary or anything online about her passing, but I'm curious, does anyone know what happened? Her IMDB only shows a few other acting gigs post-Guiding Light, so she didn't make a career out of it, but I thought she was a great actress in her role as Cleary. Her name was Mary Peterson.
    • What was Ruth Martin's association to the Thornton family?  I only remember the daughter that dated Tad, and she had a buxom mother.  But, did Ruth date David Thorton before Joe?

Why didn't Steve respect Monica and Jeff's decision?  I get he's Jeff's father, and that's how it came out, but I don't like the ethics of the story. A stranger gets to make life or death decisions over a wife's demands?   I hope Monica secretly never forgave Steve's chauvinism.
    • Question: Jon-Michael Reed's review of 1977 is up in the retro soap section.  It includes a fleeting reference to comedic scenes between Jeanne Cooper and Julianna McCarthy regarding “Kay's would-be beau, Ralph the Plumber”.  Could someone please fill me in will more details? I forgot that Kay and Liz were friendly before Jill stole Kay's husband.  And the thought of Liz playing a comedic scene blows my mind, because I only recall her being dour both in demeanor and wardrobe.
    • I said this on Twitter on Friday when Leslie mentioned Chicago, so perhaps she might be related to one of Anita's bandmates. In addition, Leslie did say she grew up listening to The Articulettes too.
    • There was a scene in the past week or two with Leslie looking at some papers and mementos, which included an invitation or souvenir from Alan's memorial service or funeral -- it was dated as November 2024. Me just guessing but it seems to me that Martin's nightmares about the accident are from something longer ago than November.
