I think that Phyllis is being showcased way more than Cane. Cane has really just been involved in the Winters family drama. Phyllis is involved/has been inserted into several storylines. Including  the cover up of JT's death, her ups and downs with Billy and his gambling, and sleeping with Nick which Summer and Kyle are trying to expose.

And now Jack wants her back as well and she will be probably have a storyline dealing with the fall out of Summer/Billy probably cheating together. She's being featured all over the canvas.

Where is this whole thing with Jack coming from? It doesn't make much sense. He had seemingly accepted the fact his brother was with his ex-wife via an affair. Phyllis was always a bit of a sounding board for Jack, but he wants her back now?

I think it's because Jack/Phyllis have been spending more time together/getting closer lately. (Due to Hilary's accident and death and Billy going downhill and being absent.) Jack has stepped in and supported Phyllis at Hilary's wedding (which Billy didn't attend) and her funeral (which Billy left early.)

I think that Phyllis has been feeling like she can count on Jack more, since Hilary's accident. And them getting closer maybe stirred up some feelings from Jack. Summer is also stirring things up by telling Jack that Phyllis is better off with him.

I think Summer does like them together but that she is largely trying to push them together because she wants Billy for herself. The other day Summer got Jack to admit that he still loves Phyllis. Jack also told Phyllis yesterday he wasn't happy that Phyllis took Billy back.

I've said it before but it bears repeating, Lily and Devon are written better and scenes come off more interesting and engaging when the show doesn't feel the need to include Neil. Their scenes were great last week when it was just them alone hashing it out. But today's scenes felt lacking to me. I understand that Neil is needed for the story, but including him in their confrontation scenes today took away from the drama. He was too distracting.

And it's impossible for him to be nuetral when we all know he hated Hilary and shouldn't want lily to take any responsibility. He sure didn't when he did his dirt. He's not working the way he's written in this story. I can almost hear the writers, "How can we include Neil?"

Slowly getting caught up and while it's nice to hear Hillary's name a lot, there's a gaping hole in the canvas now. I find that I don't really care about any of the other stories anymore and I'm pretty much fast forwarding anything non Winters related at this point because the other stories seem so boring now.

I will say I love Devon going after Cane and Lily though. I hated that just cause she was dying they both decided to act like they didn't absolutely hate her guts for most of her time on the show. I mean they somehow blamed Hilary for Cane cheating on Lily.

I’m just as bothered by the business storylines.

Jack glowed today over Nick’s managerial and entrepreneurial skill. Nick’s Dark Horse is apparently up and running, a force in the country. Huh???

Worse? Billy and Jabot. The Jabotique stuff is so bad. Without any board support, without meetings for months, Billy’s opening 30 stores around the country. Uh...ok.

    • Valerie Mahaffey Dead: ‘Northern Exposure,’ ‘Dead to Me’ Actress Was 71 I just loved Valerie on my early '90s TV shows. This one gets me.
    • I assume they did at some point during the finale...
    • Kelly was a horribly-written character overall. Just think, two Emmy-winning actresses (including Cynthia Watros, Nina, GH, and Annie, GL) couldn't make it work. Pamela is campy, but so are Dani, Vanessa, Leslie, and Joey. And, I don't want to be too judgy because my love for camp changes depending on the show. OLTL, DAYS, and some eras of GH had me rolling with the camp. However, Passions was overkill and I hated it. And, here, I can take it or leave it. It's ok in small doses (note to RC). I see this show as more of a serious drama.
    • I think one of the reasons that pilot didn't get picked up was because Vicki L was associated more with being Thelma Harper and playing older then she was playing her own age.  It was a blessing it didn't get picked up, or we would have been deprived of the syndicated era of Mama's Family.   Also, worth noting a Pre Night Court Marsha Warfield and pre Perfect Strangers Rebecca Arthur in the cast.  All talented women, but stuck with a bad script. And the other pilot had a pre Fran Fine.. Fran Drescher as the best friend.  I think that pilot might have been picked up if Karen Valentine and Fran Drescher switched roles.
    • So, on rewatch....did Rick and Mindy never have sex?
    • Cady had a fairly posh accent or manner as Rosanna - the character was a 180 from Dixie when she went to ATWT, and it was a huge success initially. As someone mostly only familiar with the nagging, miserable or clueless Dixie of the mid-late '90s and early 2000s it was what convinced me Cady could act. I thought she was incredible in her first run. Later, in future stints, her hair and story and performances were all over the place but a lot of that was down to the show for me. She brought some of Rosanna back with her to Dixie in her ill-fated return and a lot of people didn't like it, which I understood but I did think the character needed some change. I think she's had a little bit of the same persona and arch performance in every role she's played since, including Jennifer Horton at DAYS or Kelly at Y&R, who later became a maniac and was easily the worst work I've ever seen Cady do. It has kind of infected her overall mannerisms, I'll allow that, but I do think she brought Dixie back together as herself while still evolving the character when she returned to AMC again in 2012-13. Nonetheless, for me the upshot is that this is a character where Cady's kookier recent performance style suits the role. But I can understand it grating for people.
    • Yeah, Loretta Swit's passing stings. My late dad LOVED the show (he died last November) and watched it religiously. In first run and repeats.  And I was literally born the day after the show's premiere, so I grew up with it! I know many loved later, softer Margaret, but I loved Early Hot Lips. In real life, I'm all for less misogyny, but to me, the early years of M*A*S*H were just funnier. May Loretta Swit rest in peace. Thanks for all the memories connected to my dad!

    • I agree that she isn't Dixie or Rosanna and shouldn't be acting like either. I just found it strange that she had a naive Southern character and a wealthy urbane character in the past and didn't experiment with accents before (unless I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong). She used to do improv characters on YouTube. She's probably doing something similar here.
