DOOL: Day of Days Preview

For example, do you think the Jason story on GH would be as impactful if it were on only once or twice a week and the players involved only get 8 episodes a month? Because that's what happens on DAYS. I guess it's still possible to make use of that but I just don't think you can have any momentum in a story if you air it for a day or two, break, then an episode or two ... but then that also requires the minor stories to also be riveting and interesting, and right now they aren't.

I do wish they hadn't spoiled Sami/Rafe but at least I can be prepared for that horror. I'd sadly take Sami and Rafe over Rafe and Hope anyday, but it's hard to invest because Sweeney isn't sticking around, and Rafe and Hope, from some behind the scenes things Kristian has posted, are going to end up together again it seems. So what's the point? This needed to break up Rafe and Hope permanently IMO. They just don't work together. The show knows this but yet here we are.

Had Ben only made Abby's life a living hell and Will defended him and helped him out. I could see something developing but not after Ben strangled Will. We could've had Chad vs Will because of his love for Ben.

I don't get what the writers see in Rafe. He is one boring character.

I don't get the Rafe/Galen appeal at ALL. I have no idea why or how he's lasted almost 10 years.

On one hand I'm glad Ron didn't come in like past writers and clean house and is attempting to give some of the underused folks some story and energy with the JJ/Theo shooting but someone like Rafe, they should have been cut.

You must have confused ms with someone who says they're distraught because so much was given away.

I simply commented it gave too much away so the plots wont be shocking.  The element of surprise is gone.  Now, we have to rely solely on execution. Days gives too much away even in 15 second promos. Will I watch?  Only certain parts because the promo gave so much, I know what I want to skip.

On a better show the JJ shoots a hoodie-wearing Theo story would be dynamite in this day and age. On this one with this writing and these actors - ehhhh.

Also, I'll just say it: Sight unseen, Tyler Christopher would still be a better pairing for Kristian Alfonso than Gering, who is awful.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
