DJ, his wife (whatever her name is) and the seldom seen kid are not neeeded

Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and the kids are plenty to base stories around. And that is who they've been using anyway.

Michael Fishman, poor thing, is completely out of his depth and the  annoying sassy Christian wife is being shoe horned in.

Drop them...

They're just supporting characters. I think DJ helps make his sisters feel more human and less like joke machines. I also think that Geena would be fine if they could write a role for her beyond being Christian.

That's what happens when you have a thirty-minute sitcom with a lot of characters to service every week.  Inevitably, some characters, such as D.J. and Geena, will fall through the metaphorical cracks.

Nope I like DJ and his wife, all show's need supporting character's, they can't all be leads.

OMG Darlene's new boss is HOT

The show's ratings have remained solid this week. Assuming the cast wants to continue I suspect renewal is a lock, knock on wood.

TV Line gives Lecy props.

Fred Savage will be directing tomorrow's episode (and possibly appearing?). Crystal is also back.

Why do they wanna "go hard" on guest stars? I know the original run had guest stars but this isn't Will and Grace. (and for that matter, they can quit over there too; that's why their original run JTSed.)

The Conners is outperforming the rest of ABC’s Tuesday lineup by a lot. It was ABC’s only non-fractional show last night with a 1.4.

It was fourth amongst all network programming behind This Is Us (2.0), a CBS rebroadcast of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1.7), and The Voice (1.5).

It was up in total viewers as well last night.

It's not on schedule for the winter, but was never going to be due to the nature of its small run and Metcalf/Goodman's other commitments. Articles say a decision will be made later in the spring.

I'm still seeing people spreading rumors the show has already been canceled and spamming comment sections anywhere and everywhere. It's so dispiriting. The show certainly has flaws but overall I have enjoyed this season and I hope they get another. The Becky story has had some great moments for Lecy Goranson (and I'm glad the somewhat offputting adoption angle with the guest star lesbians is already over). I loved getting to see Crystal again too. I never thought I'd be saying that in 2018.

The right wing social media machine loves to napalm Twitter. But no, it was never going to be on in winter and it is quite likely to be renewed by most metrics unless the cast is done.

Me too.  I admit, it's all about the nostalgia of seeing these actors and characters again for me. I would no sooner be a fresh viewer to Roseanne than I would to Y&R, but I don't think that means these shows are bad.  They have something to offer or they wouldn't be around. We all know these networks have no mercy if the ratings aren't there.

I stand by my statement that Geena and the kid are superfluous. Up against Lecy, Laurie and Sara is a tough gig and the writers are obviously not interested in developing that character. the actress is giving me no spark.

Geena no investment in anything that is going on and no point of view. On paper the character might have sounded interesting but she hasn't brought it to life.

The actress/character belongs in another sitcom.
