Scott does look like that meerkat. He needs a hair cut. I think every new guy cast by MY has the same look and styled the same.  Long hair and bohemian scarves. Everyone is Ron Moss without the chiseled jawline. Reed and Scott are clones.

Victor brought Chloe back in town to frame Adam. Thus he wouldn't have died had Victor not brought her back. Again, I say why the big deal? No one liked Adam. Why is Nick acting like he and Adam were so close?

Today's show was same boring drivel. The whole Ravi mess again. And Reed is so boring.....he does nothing but hang around town playing his guitar.....boring......and tomorrow's preview...more boring mess with Gloria and Jack as a couple....and Jack defending it....barf.....

Adam was a horrible person. He killed a child and covered it up, why does anyone anywhere care this much about him? Why are we still mired in a story about someone that is dead and has been off the canvas for a year? Why are soaps these days incapable of moving on from failed stories (Adam's entire existence as an adult character was a failed story IMO)?

Chloe's Pratt-esq arc certainly brought the ratings back to POP. Y&R made the cable 150 four days last week and Monday after rarely making it during the past 3 months. Last year, it was there at least 3 days a week. Just saying. Viewers like me want more than talk. Give us some action. Now if Sally's team can create longer, compelling stories, viewers will return. Let's see if CBS saw the same uptick last week

...but can they?

It seems that Sally's team is more focused on rehashing storylines from the previous regimes than moving forward.

Notably, her Fenmore's storyline, after suffering from sheer neglect, flopped.

It's starting to look less and less like "clean up" of the previous regime's storylines and more like maybe they're stalled for ideas on what to do next.

Question to anybody who has been watching recently-- where does this latest story leave the Victor biography thing?  Will it get dropped?

IMO, Sally was probably struggling with a way to make the story more active. It can't just be about Q&A and an assortment of flashbacks, there would have to be more to it.

Would Scott interview Victoria and Nicholas about their father after all this? While Victor is on the outs (yet again) with his kin?

I don't see how this doesn't bring that story to a screeching halt now. Maybe there wasn't much there to begin with?

Sally can't create longer, compelling stories. The only story that was midly entertaining was the Chloe one and that's a rehash from the previous writers. It is just a continuation of that story. Sally has not created one compelling story. She promised a changed Lauren with her Fenmore storyline and that went nowhere fast and became all about Gloria.

This show won't recover at this point...I'm pretty sure of it. I saw pieces of today and just nothing made sense. Sympathetic Victor acting like he's sad that he lost a son - who he conspired against. Victor will never be redeemed to me, but people have selective memories. He was never truly the good guy or partially likeable. He was never any Roger/Guiding Light which is what they tried desperately to make him. And the show is a maze of a mess. You don't love any character on this show. When that happens, it's the nail in the coffin for a show - as plotty as shows want to be, DAYS, GH, and other shows have proven what happens when you go after plot only. And on this show, they tried to plot, but the characters have fallen apart and the repair would take way too long now. Given that the head writer can't do either. I'm not even sure they have the acting company to pull anything off now, to sell bad writing or to sell the fact nothing is happening. It's just not good right now. It will be the last one standing, but I give Soap Opera about 3 to 4 years tops now. People laughed at World Turns, Another World, Guiding Light, All My Children, One Life to Live - when they were cancelled. None were as bad as what I see right now. It's showing.

) Anyways... I did really feel disgusted by Eurovision this year and I doubt I'll watch this horrific musical torture in the future. My ears and my psyche will not survive.
    • Regarding the mobster storyline: The scripts, the cardroom set, and the writing for Joey -- are all terrible. They seem to be writing a realistic depiction of compulsive gambling as an addiction, showing that it pops into his head all the time -- it has become hardwired into his brain.  The APA (American Psychological Association) describes compulsive gambling as having a similar effect on the physical brain as drug and alcohol addiction. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/07/how-gambling-affects-the-brain I think Jason Graham (Doug) is doing an adequate job playing Doug as a compulsive gambler, with the thoughts/urges coming into his head all the time, and being unable to stop. However, the cardroom set is awful and the mobster storyline is a bad cliché, so it's all so uninteresting to watch. I think Mr. Graham is doing the best he can with the crap they gave him to work with. If anyone reading or watching has a gambling issue, check out Gamblers Anonymous.  They have many types of meetings -- in-person, online, video, audio, etc.  They also have resources for friends/family of compulsive gamblers.
    • Today was painful (especially for Philip).  I still feel for Xander. He was clear he was happy sharing and working with Philip. It's just one more betrayal from someone he loved. Going back to last year when he found out about Victor and Fiona, then Alex and Philip. He forgave and tried. Then Philip went behind his back again. He's been walking on the edge for weeks. This is a man who was abused, neglected and has never had any therapy for his horrific past. He has zero coping skills because he's never learned them. I hate this but I refuse to hate Xander
    • Lucy Coe wasn't even this big of a whore.
    • Kate being the one that Alex called was a nice surprise. The cut to her looking all sheek made me instantly get excited for her to get back into business mode. And the Jack reference from when she first came to town (on-screen) was inserted naturally which is always welcome. When they were talking about how much sex sells, I almost got the impression they were sizing each other up in a May/December type of way.  All the Philip stuff was gruesome. I'm happy the show isn't shying away from Xander's ugliness. I love them both, and it just makes me intrigued for the aftermath for it all to be taken seriously. I cheered when Philip spat out at that Sarah knew the truth. I'm on tenterhooks for their eventual confrontation. I was surprised that Kate wasn't a little vicious towards Sarah for Xander's obvious behavior, but maybe that's still to come. How wonderfully entangled is it that both Philip and Shawn/Steve stopped each other from getting the drug. Both equally at fault. Who/what will ultimately save Bo? And with everything going on, is a Salem where it's looking likely that EJ is about to own the hospital imminent?
    • Oddly.. Chase and Steve seem to have both vanished from the canvas in December so the Estelle return loses impact when two of her kids stop appearing shortly after her return (and I assume TR leaves in early 1986 as well). The Steve recast doesn't work... but it's odd that he has a long scene with Teri with Cagney looking jealous.. when the majority of his time on the show previously was a relationship and engagement to Stephanie (who he barely has a scene with in the episodes I see). Your idea for Wendy/Bela/Stephanie sounds just like what Ryan's Hope did with Michael/Kim/Rae... and considering Louise Shaffer was playing Rae and Stephanie.. it would have been a lousy redux of a superior story on another soap (that had months of build-up) I think Quinn becoming assistant to Stephanie was Mayer/Braxton... but not 100 % sure. I don't know if Mayer/Braxton was setting up Sarah as a bad girl disguised as a good girl.. but the actress (Joyner) was playing the scenes in that manner.. and Tomlin wisely tapped into that when he took over.
    • She’s such a caricature - which is a shame because I think the actress is capable of so much more.   I don’t know why Cady often feels like she has overcompensated in her performances. She already proved she can play much more than just Dixie Cooley during her first stint at ATWT (her best acting era). Her performances in various roles since then have been quite strange at times.
    • It feels like the show suddenly woke up today and remembered it was Sweeps month. Lots of action and forward momentum, including a delicious Nina/Carly fight.
