What could I say that hasn't been said already about the woman who gave us Erica Kane?  With her, I believe, goes whatever sparkle remained on this once-glorious genre.  There will never be another Agnes Nixon -- in daytime TV, or anywhere else.

I am beside myself. RIP you brilliant, groundbreaking, fierce woman.

Thank you for Erica Kane. Thank you for Phoebe. Thank you for Angie Hubbard and her Jessie. Thank you for Myrtle. Thank you for Opal and Palmer and Greg and Jenny. Thank you for 'the' Adam Chandler. Thank you for Bianca and her coming out. Thank you for all those heartwarming holiday episodes. Thank you for making Pine Valley a second home for this once lonely, depressed boy.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this as well.  No one lives forever, but I guess a part of me felt she would.

As far as soaps go, there are two writers who I've looked up to -- Doug Marland and Agnes Nixon -- and now, they're both gone.

Back around 2006, I was in the MFA writing program at Rosemont College in Rosemont, PA. When I found out Agnes lived in Rosemont, I suggested to the writing program's director that we reach out to her to see if she'd be interested in coming to campus to talk about her writing career and her work on soaps. To my absolute disappointment, the program expressed no interest. I kick myself that I didn't push harder. Here was an talented and prolific writer living in the town where the program was located and there was no interest in having her come to campus. What a wasted opportunity to not only honor one of the town's writing luminaries, but to hear firsthand from a woman whose work touched the hearts and lives of so many people.

    • 30 minutes in and...is there any Tracy that I dislike? lol. Cuz I love Traci on Y&R, Tracy on GH, and now Tracy on this show. She is reading the heck out of Anita so far. And sorry...Anita is not keeping up (though I am loving TT's performance). This is what I was expecting from Silk Press Sheila, but nope. But this comes of someone that truly knows someone. Loving it.   But I liking all the conversations so far today. Smitty and Martin especially. A gay couple having it out. And knowing that due to the development in Month 2 and the actors getting comfortable with their roles, I feel invested.    Not Kat pulling a Blair again on Chelesa. lol.     Same. I can avoid major spoilers for a day.

    • Yes.  I won't be able to articulate this correctly, but Tracy's delivery to Gio was almost clunky and perfect.  Gio didn't really understand how important her parents and their legacy is to her.  It was so Tracy.   Also, if I knew I was related to Lila I would immediately just sit in her rose garden and make vases and vases of beautiful roses lol
    • @j swift, that's Audrey Ames, played by Fia Porter. She was one of the actresses on Fraternity Row. https://www.oocities.org/historypg/oltl1989.html ETA: "Dorian's Fountain" would make an excellent pseudonym.
    • I got a new Robo-mop/vac today and I named it Dustin' Kiriakis.
    • Yes she does but I get Lois and her reasons. I see everyone's side
    • I think you meant siblings, as they aren't twins.  It was established in episode #2 that Tyrell is 17 and Samantha is 16.

I was watching the 28:44 edit of All the Tour Llandview Openings from 1984-1991 (which I assume is most of the Rauch era). Any way, I could name 95% of the characters (or I knew what story they were a part of).  But, who's this? I attached the link, but be warned, that theme song is an earworm (here's where ya go when it looks like the rain won't).

    • I welled up, definitely. She got me with that one; it's only a shame these writers cannot bring this on a more consistent basis.
    • Let's Make a Deal, which followed AMC, went from 9.2 to 7.5 those weeks, so it happened to both shows.
    • When she showed Gio the picture of Lila and Edward and said these are your great-great grandparents I might have shed one single little tear.
