June 8, 20169 yr Member I don't know much of the guy's rep but I tend to admire the British soaps a great deal despite their recent ups and downs. I'd like to see what he could do.
June 8, 20169 yr Member I remember reading that JFP changed the Chancellor mansion without informing the highers-up or the cast so maybe that is what did her in. She didn't ask permission (even though I'm sure in theory the highers-up couldn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about the old Chancellor set. It's about JFP making autonomous decisions and Sony/CBS establishing control). Probably the backlash against this which was big. Even actors were NOT happy about this at all
June 8, 20169 yr Member I'm so [!@#$%^&*] tired of hearing about that damn mansion when the writing is trash!!!!!
June 8, 20169 yr Administrator Calling it right now: they're grooming him to become the new EP. JFP will be out when her contract is up....I think late summer. Called it!!.....sort of....got the timing wrong. LOL I hope he fixes the background music right away by bringing back Jack Allocco and David Kurtz. Looking forward to see what he does with the production. It definitely wasn't a good sign for JFP when the CBS Daytime exec spoke out against the Chancellor Mansion set change. You never see an exec bash a current EP like that. And hopefully this is the end for JFP working in daytime. I hope she retires.
June 8, 20169 yr Member Ok, i thought it was Valentini. But also believed since Young was brought in that he would replace Phelps. I find it hard to believe that Sony/Kent didn't tell Phelps in January that Young was her replacement. He's got an extensive soap pedigree so it seemed obvious he was being groomed. Sussman may be an option for writer but I tend to think Young may finally promote Slater/Esser with him driving story since YR has a history of giving headwriting/ep duties to the same person. Mal has experience doing both. Wouldn't it be great if Esser/Minardi were finally given story authority?
June 8, 20169 yr Member Mal Young tweeted that he was at EastEnders from 1997-2004 A true golden age for that show even though it had a minor dud *coughs* the Ferreira clan *coughs* too.
June 8, 20169 yr Member I'm willing to give young a chance, but I still feel it will take a while for things to possibly change as long as Pratt is still around....would he be co ep with young since he was with JFP?
June 8, 20169 yr Member That was an impressive time. That range is a large portion of my era with EE as per its time on PBS syndication. I used to want Brits to come in and take on OLTL as well, back when Daran Little(?) was supposedly shadowing AMC. Still would've liked that. Edited June 8, 20169 yr by Vee
June 8, 20169 yr Member Mal Young tweeted that he was at EastEnders from 1997-2004 He was Controller of BBC Drama, overseeing EastEnders along with other shows/dramas. The EP's during that time who oversaw the day to day were Matthew Robinson, John Yorke, and Louise Berridge. His creative EP credentials are probably most associated with Brookside. I think Pratt will be gone soon too
June 8, 20169 yr Member I don't think it's long before we hear Pratt is out - I think Sony/CBS may be waiting for his contract cycle to run out.

You also have to consider that ABC has no interest in GH thus no need for it to improve. GH is not long for this world. When you can cancel as many prime time shows at once like ABC did last month, there's no way trash like GH has any hope!
