Joanna Johnson announced her departure in December 1989 and it was to be at the end of her initial contract in March 1990, but it ended up being four months later in July 1990.
I think some soap names thrown around in the soap press as a potential Caroline recast were Genie Francis and Tonja Walker but I could be mistaken.
My theory is that Bill Bell realized he rushed into recasting Y&R Ashley (Eileen Davidson didn't get a proper exit storyline and Brenda Epperson floundered for her first six months) so he decided to kill off Caroline and replace her role on the show with Taylor.
Caroline death was sad but Joanna Johnson was irreplaceable. She was so natural and real in the role. In the grand scheme of things it was probably for the best that she left. I shudder at the thought of Bradley writing for Caroline. It all worked out in the end as Joanna Johnson went on to have success in her post-B&B writing and directing career.

No she wasn't. Originally Tracy was a socialite friend of Iris from Manhattan. Tracy didn't even work, she (like Iris) was just a wealthy socialite. And certainly not a lounge singer. When Tracy returned to AW with Lynde in the role, Tracy seemed almost like a new character. And by the time she started dating Russ, any mention of her wealth stopped.

B&B: Brooke VS Katie - Which side are you on?

I voted for Katie, too. Brooke had long been one of my favorites since inception, but the writing for her the past few years has been atrocious. The way Brooke has become all about Ridge with little regard to anyone else has turned me on her. I mean, she's always been focused on Ridge, but not to this extent.
I do hope there's a Katie vs Brooke for years to come and not just for a couple of weeks. I don't have my hopes up high, though. Brooke works better when she has a rival, and sadly Taylor isn't it anymore since RB took over the role.

MTS didn't mention anything about BD in her book from what I remember. She acknowledged the beef w/ JC but didn't delve into details about it.
As for MTS being a queen bee, here's an example.
MTS served up some queen bee attitude in her segment. I can only imagine how she behaved at the CBS after party.

Leslie was for the first time serious and not over the top. Even her snapping at Kat was more nuanced.

Her IMDB listed age is almost certainly incorrect, as it would mean that she was only 17 when she started on the show in 1984. That said, she was playing a character much older than herself, as Gwyneth would have been born in about 1944, given Rick's stated year of birth. I would guess that she was born sometime in the 1950s and is probably about the same age as Callan White (who was also playing a character about decade older than she was).
