Kirsty hopefully made a lot of money and realized she could walk away from the TV biz and not look back.

I'm sure being gay played a part as she wouldn't have to deal with the 'lesbian actress' label and all that goes with it.

She worked hard and deserves to reap the benefits.

Well, thank God she's not...you know.

I'd LOVE to see her back on TV. She suffers from bipolar disorder, so I wouldn't want her to do anything that would compromise her health. But if she could handle Hallmark Channel TV movies, as slick suggested upthread, or even a recurring part on a cable or streaming series -- something with an abbreviated shooting schedule, with time off to relax/travel/whatever -- I would welcome it. "Empty Nest" just wasn't the same without her to act as Dinah Manoff's foil.

I don't think she would ever come back to acting. Not only because of her bipolar disorder, but because of the fact that she had been acting since she was a child and acted pretty steadily, at that. She's probably happy to live a very private life now.

ETA: Read the article after this. I was VERY surprised to see her say "Never say never" to acting. I thought for sure she was done forever. I guess 20 years is a long enough break--she hasn't acted since she returned for Empty Nest's final episode in 1995. (She DID do voiceover work for a short-lived cartoon in the late 90's, though).

Her E! True Hollywood Story from the late 90's was awesome, one of my favorites. Her Pirate Movie co-star, Christopher Atkins, was interviewed for it and was quite enthusiastic in recounting their onscreen kiss laugh.png . Her brother James was interviewed, too. She declined to be interviewed, though. She apparently briefly trained to be a hairdresser a few years before she got EN.

And I'm not gonna lie, this is my jam:

Her THS included footage of her and Jimmy singing this on the Mike Douglas Show.

I remember seeing her THS. Kari Michaelsen from Gimme A Break is a close friend of hers. I always liked Kristy. She was one of the earliest child stars I remember growing up.

That album was released the year I was born (1978). I really like 'Slow Dance".

She did a great After School Special called " The Pinballs" that I always remember and an excellent TV movie with Linda Lavin called "Like Mom,Like Me". Sadly most people under 30 probably have no idea who she is.

    • I forget that throughout the 80’s the TV seasons were officially over in April. Not sure why that was the case but it wasn’t until the mid-90’s that May Sweeps became a real official thing.
    • Jon Lindstrom proved with Ryan Chamberlain on GH that he can play menacing and evil. He's not doing it here, and I think it's a combination of writing and performance.   To be fair, Longoria has modeled and has represented major companies like L'Oreal, but she was never a runway model. I don't have any problem with seeing Dani as a runway model. I think it's more than possible, and I don't understand anyone criticizing her look. I actually have a bigger problem with the whole "Anita is an EGOT" thing. I think it goes way too far. Give her a Grammy. Say she was nominated for a Tony, or even won. But an EGOT winner? No.   The fact that you're using DAYS to defend a BTG set is telling, since we all know DAYS is poverty level soapdom. I expect so much more and better from Gates.     I can't help it, but I'm LOL at the people defending that backroom bingo hall casino and making excuses for it. It's hilariously bad.
    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
