I like Chelsea when she has scenes with Gabriel/Adam. I hope there are more. I could do with less Chelsea/Billy though. snoozefest.

Considering that the Adam/Gabriel story is one of the main stories the show has going I'm not surprised that MCE would be heavily involved in scripts.

Oh, God. When it rains, it pours.

The only reason the Adam story is (somewhat) working is because of Justin Hartley. That's it. Hartley is carrying the whole story, its characters/actors and every single scene he's in, including MCE. MCE was, is, and always will be insufferably boring on her own. Past glories from AMC be damned.

IA Hartely is just about the best thing on the show right now. MCE isn't horrible and I liked her with Dylan but she can't save the chemistry free scenes with Billy. I don't think anyone could.

Speaking of insufferable, Devon and Hillary are selfish buttholes and I wish they would both get struck by lightening and die. Well, maybe just Devon should die but they really do suck. When they played Neil's flashback's today it really brought home what a liar Hillary is. I was hoping Neil would stumble upon an iHOP go in and order breakfast and let the rest of the survivors freeze. Although nobody looked cold today, in fact they looked like they were hot wrapped up in blankets and coats, lol.

Interesting make up choices today. Nikki looked like Violet Beauregarde after chewing the blueberry gum and Nick looked like a Romulan.

I wonder how many times Kelley is going to let Phyllis smack her across the face before it's a full on cat fight.

Which, of course, is all sorts of ridiculous because no newbie should be better than 98% of the cast. Ever.

I agree with you -- MCE is in no way, shape or form horrible. She's actually pretty good (although nothing phenomenally special). Too bad she has a horrid character that is unbelievably boring most of the time.

Oh, I'm sure Chuckie sees something in her, but it's not her talent.

The one thing Chuck Pratt did very well at AMC was bring out the best in Missy Egan - Annie became a completely different character and it was largely due to him. She was hired at Y&R on the strength of that character, whose loss crippled AMC. But Chelsea, for most of her run, has been the pre-Pratt, milquetoast version of Annie who was completely useless. I think she's picked up a bit more spunk and fire recently, and has great chemistry with Hartley. She's also not nearly as pointless as some other female leads at the moment, so at the moment Chelsea is not the waste she has been for forever and a day.

Sometimes characters are actor-proof. DC hyped Marcy Rylan like she had their families hidden in her basement, and she still flopped with fans and in the writing. Abby was a character who never should have been born, and she just never has fit into the show for me.

MCE is one of many Y&R actors who struggle to find a connection with scene partners. It's perpetually depressing and stilted to watch. This has never been a happy set, and I guess the lack of rehearsal time and terrible writing just make it even more impossible for actors to form genuine connections.

    • I find the black & white episodes FAR more atmospheric and spooky than the color episodes.   The first few months of Dark Shadows move ploddingly slow when you're binge-watching, with entirely too much repetition and exposition.  But as someone noted above, it's the only time in the show when you get much character development.  After the 1795 sequence, it's pretty much like "just make something up; nobody cares."   The series essentially became self-parody with the overload of monsters & ghoulies.  I was watching a scene one time in which the Witch was attempting to stop the Phoenix from staking the Vampire, and I got tickled at the absurdity of three "monsters" in one scene.
    • So cool!!!   And that picture is fierce!!!
    • Just glancing through, it does remind me that I really need to catch up. Sounds like the new writing team have been off to a good start.
    • Loved Katie's reaction to seeing Philip beaten up and near death.
    • I am so pleasantly surprised at how the new writing team is approaching Kate. Towards the end of R*n's run, she faded right out, off contract, pouring coffee at the Brady Pub...and then somehow it turned around and she's back in suits, woven in and out of multiple storylines, and inching back towards the business world, while having her relationship with Roman being written maturely.
    • Someone apparently told Brad Bell that "playing all the beats" meant repeating the same dialogue every day.

Steal her away from Y&R and make her "Sharon".
    • -- I continue to enjoy DAYS post-Carlivati. These women have done a great job in refocusing the show. -- It sounds nuts not to agree with "rapists and murderers shouldn't be romantic leads." But then you get characters like Xander and EJ, and you have to put an asterisk after that quote. I enjoy both characters far too much to want them off the show or thrown in jail. They're romantic leads, but you can't tell me they haven't faced consequences. -- I think the Xander beatdown of Phillip was well-directed -- and in character. Some people here believe Xander went too far. Well, that's who Xander is, and we've seen that many times over these past years. He thought he had family, and then realized it was all a lie, so he resorted back to his animal roots. -- The Stephanie Racy Book storyline is soooooo bad. I had to laugh that she couldn't find her manuscript in that 2x4 apartment.
    • Both Philip and Xander should be in jail, period.
    • 5-14   AMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYY!!! Thank the Lord! lol. But at least I now have something of interest to watch. So good to see Audra and Amy reunited. hehe. I also liked the continued bonding between Damian and Nate. Side-note...those pants on SD and all of that cake is PERFECTION. Mmmm.   I also enjoyed the continued dragging of Billy. First by the son. And then by the father. lol. Billy standing there and being so insufferable and wonder why people are giving him the business. He can stay at that bar and STFU. Double for Chelesa.    And ugh at Giggly Heffa wasting Victor's (and the audience's) time with her inability to spit it out. At least she made up for it by calling Dumas directly. I was just talking about how I love near-miss in the BTG thread, but the difference here is that the Dumas part of the Damian storyline has gone on too long. So her near-miss was annoying.
