Guiding Light's Reva had breast cancer in 2006. But years prior in 1999, there were plans to do a breast cancer story for Reva, but they dropped it in favor of a more "sweeping, romantic" storyline of her being a princess in San Cristobel (apparently their efforts at keeping potential eyeballs from going over to new soap Passions). Without San Cristobel, there would've been no Richard, Edmund, Olivia, plus no split stories between Springfield and San Cristobel for three years. Hmm, come to think of it. No Richard would've meant no Jeffrey O'Neill... :)

Let's see....

Well first thing's first, I think it would have been better off on Passions just to make Theresa a flat out Bitch rather then the main heroine/anti-heroine. I liked Theresa don't get me wrong and I always thought Lindsay Hartley was one of the best actresses on that show, but I just feel like they tried too hard to justify all her actions and should have just made her more vindictive about them....not that she wasn't but, I guess it also would have made Gwen's actions seem more tolerable since it always seemed like her and Rebecca outing Ethan's paternity to the tabloid and then framing Theresa for it is what kept viewers (myself included) from feeling sorry for her.

Too many to mention for Y&R.....I swear if we can just erase the last 10 years.....

on B&B I got to thinking that what if they had just decided to not kill Phoebe off and she was the one that ended up fighting sister Steffy over Liam etc....That would have been so much better then this contrived idea to do the next generation's Brooke and Taylor with Hope and Steffy. It's a classic Bell staple for sisters to fight over the same men (look at Leslie and Lorie, Ashley and Traci even Brooke and Katie ) so I just think it would have been better to see sisters fight over the same men then to see the same Forrester vs Logan crap played out.

Does that mean there also wouldn't have been Jonathan?

I loved Kevin, and I thought he and Luke had an interesting friendship, but looking back, I'm glad they never went the "he's homophobic because he's gay!!" route with him. I do think they should have kept him around and had he and Luke rebuild their friendship after everything that happened that summer.

My main OLTL one is pretty simple. Jess/Brody vs. Nat/Jared should have been focused squarely on the custody of the kids. Natalie and Jared versus the unstable Jessica and Brody with Jessica and Brody up against Jessica's sister and the guy who supposedly "killed" their father.

Keith was best friends with Luke from school. They hung around together and Luke developed a crush on him. Luke finally had the courage to tell Kevin he was gay and had fallen for him. Kevin went ballistic and their friendship went downhill.

As for Margo and Tom...the best were HBS and GM.....they were hot together even though GM was gay. HBS and SH were great too..but didnt much care for ED and SH...tom and margo.

Oh, okay, I actually remember him now. Boy, it's insane how little remember of the last decade of the show?

I didn't know GM was gay. I guess I know little of the actor's personal lives though. Not that this means anything because many people marry and then come out (even after children) but I seem to remember coming across some photograph of him with a woman next to Finn Carter and Steven Weber. Maybe I'm mistaken. Makes no difference. GM and HBS were hot and I was sorry that GM left.

Later Kevin returned and I guess Pissy forgot they had patched things up somewhat because Kevin couldnt stand Luke once again.

If you watch the whole Kevin Vs Luke for Student Body Prez its Luke who never got over Kevin's reaction to him coming out

They should have made Kevin bi at least and have him realized he had feelings for Luke. He could have driven a wedge between Luke and Noah...cause you know Luke really wanted Kevin. A Kevin and Luke pairing would have been awesome since Kevin was all over the place..not squeaky clean..but of course the writers and EP blew it. I liked Maddie but she was just too boring for words at times.

Kevin was a good actor and he was so sexy too. I think that was a missed opportunity for sure. He should have been developed into a main character. Noah was always too stiff, wooden, and unbelievable. Kevin struggling with his gay side could have been a great story.

Yes to everyone saying they wish that Kevin should've been bi! Van Hansis and Karl Girloamo (Kevin) had that heat IMO. I thought after the serial killer story line that they would've tossed Kevin into Luke's orbit. They at least seemed like they were hinting towards it. A Kevin/Noah/Luke triangle would've been hot if done properly. Then we wouldn't've needed the pointless Noah/Maddie pairing and Noah/Ameera marriage.

I am probably gonna be stoned for this but I liked Ameera or at least i liked the actress i just really hated the whole storyline just like i did about every cartoon vilains that were thrown Nuke'ss way to make them seemingly viableas a couple.

I lucked out by missing most of the wonder twins mess thank god

I wish i could say the same for the Lucinda/Lucinda's boyfriend/Luke storyline.

I wanted Levin so bad and wish the show had done something with this unexpected pairing.

To undo the Kay/Jill mess on Y&R, have it that Bill Foster had an affair with a local woman that resulted in her pregnancy (not a stretch considering that Bill was a portrayed as a dead beat dad). The woman dies in childbirth so Bill arranges for he and Liz to adopt baby Jill. Therefore Jill is a Foster again.

As for Kay's child, rather than the convoluted Tucker/Devon mess ,have Katherine discover that her daughter became a nun, who ironically chose the name Sr Katherine and devoted her life to good deeds before dying young. That would wrap up that side of things rather than introducing a new character that only reminded viewers of the nonsensical rewrite.

No need to kill off Liz.

Another story beat was Lauren marrying Scott when Paul was presumed dead. In fact, Lauren knew Paul was faking his death so it seemed mean of her to be deceiving Scott. It would have been better had Lauren not known and married Scott believing Paul had been taken from her, thus creating genuine conflict when he returned from the dead.

Think back to all the stories, couples, characters, etc. that you've really disliked or just flat out hated over the years. The ends may not have been inherently loathsome, but the means by which TPTB got there either made you disinterested in the story or tainted what could have been something good. How do you think they should have fixed it?

My main two, which will always be my main two forever and ever:

ALL MY CHILDREN

The Unabortion

I I LOVED the idea of a young Kane man. I loved Josh, I loved Colin Egglesfield, and I loved what the character could have brought, long-term, to the show (let's forget that there really wasn't a long-term by that point). The problem? HE WAS THE CHILD THAT ERICA THOUGHT SHE'D ABORTED!!! There's no need to get into how screwed up the whole story was, but for me, the #1 thing that ticked me off is that we were robbed of a genuinely good story development for Erica and the others. There were tons of roads that TPTB could have taken. Josh could have been a son of Eric's. GREG could have been Eric's son. Greg could have been Mona's son. Greg could have been Mona's younger brother. Josh could have been a cousin on either side. Josh could have been MARK's long-lost son, raised by Greg Madden (not knowing the kid wasn't his), and we could have had MLM back for a year to set up the story (or, ideally, back for good). All of these options would have generated story for Erica the same way the unabortion did, but instead of misusing history, they would have been adding to it. But, instead, they went with one of the most outlandish, attention-grabbing, embarrassing stories in daytime history.

I thought the concept of Erica having a son was just unnecessary. I liked the Kane women being there for each other through all their adversity. If Erica had to have another male relative, I wish they'd made Leo her half-brother, which would've further explained the animosity Vanessa had toward Erica if she'd been in love with Eric.

As far as stories they could've done better, there are so many I could choose (I know I mentioned Brooke finding out her new love interest/minister was Josh in another thread awhile back), but I'm going to go with the D&D run and Erica's doppelganger. If the writers had researched the show's history, "Jane" could have turned out to be someone with a grudge against Erica like the faux-Silver Kane or Adam's former assistant Joanna. Having her turn out to be just a fan from Erica's modeling days diluted the impact for me. Not that it would've raised the ratings enough to prevent cancellation, but I can't help but wonder if the show might've gotten a ratings bump if they had given long-time fans reason to be excited about this story.

I would have LOVED Leo as Eric's son, and it would have explained Vanessa's hatred for Erica far, far better than did the stupid retcon that she was in love with Richard Fields and witnessed him rape a child but didn't intervene.

There was so much wrong with the doppleganger story. I didn't want Jane to be Erica's long-lost twin or anything, but SOMEONE with a history with the character made so much more sense than a crazed fan. Why couldn't she have been related to Erica via Mona or Eric in some way? I know that LB didn't start that story, and she opted to wrap it really fast and go in a different direction for the show's end, but the whole story from start to finish was so unsatisfying.
