I can excuse John and Kristen because their relationship was waaaayy before John became a DiMera (which they don't discuss at all in passing).

I remember the whole Bill/Janice/Mike story on Days.

In Iva and Josh---yeah. Josh raped Iva at 12/13, when Iva thought they were blood cousins. It turned out they weren't---neither were Snyders. Iva was adopted and Josh's father wasn't a Snyder, which is why he was abused.

I still couldn't get behind Josh and Meg, though, for the reason that he raped Iva and Meg grew up believing Iva was her biological sister. Even if she knew Iva was adopted, I would think they would have bonded in some way and marrying the guy who raped and impregnated her...

Marland was obviously a gifted writer and the actors were all talented but even my tweenage romantic mind still couldn't wrap itself around that concept.

LOL yeah B&B owns this thread.

I also think the whole Julie / Doug pairing is kinda weird. I would never get over if my sister married my dad. Is there a recon there? Because recently she has been introducing Julie as her step mother. That is less confusing for new viewers.

Julie dated and was in love with Doug before her mother ever married him and had Hope.

I know, but it still must be weird for Hope.

Jonathan and Tammy on Guiding Light

I could not believe GL did that...I wasn't watching at the time, but I knew what as going on. Didn't they have a baby too? And aren't they blood relatives? First cousins because their mothers are sisters?

Ridge and Bridget weren't "raised together" lol

Sure wasn't because he helped raise her...I will never forget the scene when she was around 5/6 and they told her that he was not her father. That man was in and out of a relationship with her mother her entire childhood.

Wait---Meredith was adopted? I guess I missed that.

Ugh...Jammy. I knew I was forgetting something. Accidental incest is one thing. What made Jonathan more disgusting is that he went after Tammy knowing they were cousins, as some twisted way of punishing Reva and Cassie. And as if Tammy were nothing but a used tissue in his game of collateral damage.

It could have been Fletcher was the one who was adopted into Meredith's family. Been so long, I forget which, but they were not blood related. And again, it was revealed that they had been lovers at some point.

I couldn't stand Josh. Meg wasn't a favorite character either, but she grew as a character during her marriage to Tonio, and I liked Jennifer Ashe's performance. The only reasoning I can buy for Meg is that she and Iva weren't really close since Iva had run away while Meg was still a baby and Josh befriended her even after she had accused him of rape/attempted rape.

But yeah, I never really bought into that relationship, or the way Iva was forced to accept him being a part of her family.

Jon and Tammy were first (half) cousins and step-siblings via Richard's marriage to Cassie. There was no baby. Jon had a daughter with Lizzie Spaulding, and the rat-bastard kidnapped her for years, which was another reason I hated him.

well she is her step mother. There is no retocn there at all

I know, but it still must be weird for Hope.

Why would it though? Its all she's ever known. She grew up with this normal to her. It would be different if it was something that changed for her when she was 6.

You don't think it's weird at all for her? How would she introduce her? What would she introduce her as?

No I don't for the reasons I stated. It should be weird for others who aren't aware of her family's history, but it shouldn't be odd to Hope bc this is all she's known. She never knew her mother so that's one factor that she's never had to deal with in this situation. She'd introduce Julie as her sister or stepmother as she has in the past.
