Allmc2008 - I put everything behind Son of Bronx's ratings info. Marc Berman and Son of Bronx always post similar ratings info. So yes, I believe these numbers to be true. I don't want to bother Son of Bronx everyday for the ratings, but he probably has them. Just ask.

He's referring to Prospect Park and their already established relationship with USA Network.

I'm sure it's safe to say USA wasn't interested, and even if they were, it's almost guaranteed the shows would have never aired outside of daytime. Whereas on OWN, it's still possible for a more varied schedule somewhere down the line.

Instead of them being on OWN were the ratings are terrible across the board and had financial difficulty since the beginning why couldn't they have put AMC/OLTL on a network they have a track record on that has better ratings overall. Don't they have other shows on USA? If that have a good track record at USA they probably would have been given a better time-slot.

I'm sure if that was the case, they would be on USA or another more popular network. I don't think cable networks were banging down their door this summer with news of a labor dispute & an ep reduction two weeks in. At worst, OWN is providing PP with some short-term cash paying for the ten weeks of eps.

I am not concerned and here's why:

1. It's OWN. The channel is ratings challenged, and many people do not get OWN due to it being in a pay cable package, not basic cable. I do wish that the show was on a more popular basic cable channel. Bravo would be perfect, and they could promote on Real Housewives. Plus, with the slot they were in, I think a show could be considered a success if there was ANY type of pulse whatsoever.

2. Lack of promotion. This has been something I have been meaning to post here, and maybe this is the wrong thread, but has anyone else noticed the complete lack of promotion PP/Hulu has been giving AMC/OLTL. I mean, ABC promotes GH more than PP promotes AMC/OLTL and that is a serious problem. They promoted the returns, now they have to keep promoting these shows if they want people to continue tuning in. Hopefully, as they continue to line their ducks up in a row, this will be addressed. I had such high hopes with the billboards....

3. Poor scheduling. Whoever's idea was it to run 2 previous episodes, a "new" episode, and then a rerun of the "new" episode should be fired. I think AMC/OLTL need to run together in a 1-hour block sometime between 4-7pm.

    • I dont mind Jan. She's good in the minor capacity she is used.
    • tbqh I don't care about Jan, I don't care about Ashley and I think Jon Lindstrom as Joey is an acquired taste. Jon is a great actor but certain things are in his zone and then some are not. Some days I find Joey credible and compelling, but the stuff with him hanging around the Golden Corral, grumbling about Doug and bitching at Randy is not amazing. If he had material on par with what MVJ wrote for Ryan/Kevin on GH back in the day it'd be a different story. I do think he has real chemistry with Vanessa, which is in large part due to MVJ clearly molding that character (and hiring an appropriate actor) in the Lucy Coe vein when she reinvented Lucy in the '90s as well. But I am not here to spend 6+ months watching Jon glower a lot (which is what he's doing half the time to carry weak story) and make more vague dire pronouncements while Jen Jacob gets flustered and weepy over "Daddy" or whatever would come of that storyline. Putting them together sounds like a recipe for doom to me. But I may be in the minority on that.
    • I know this will never happen. But... Halle Berry as Dani Dupree(BTG). She would rock this role, it's in her wheelhouse.
    • When I see how bad the Ashley/Derek scenes are, I know there must be a larger purpose and Joey being her father is the thing that makes the most sense.  My take on it is that Ashley knows Joey is her father but doesn't know Joey. Maybe he was there when she was a child or just not around at all but I believe Jan when she says she didn't lie to her daughter about who her father was. Maybe she left him when she discovered his dangerous lifestyle.  I do think they could really jump start the character of Ashley if they hurry and do this. Jan is a great character and her scenes with Ashley have been helpful. This would further integrate Ashley into the canvas and give her something dramatic to do. With her working at the hospital along with Doug, it could lead to complications if she learns Doug is involved with her father. I just need is sooner rather than later because Derek is tanking her character. I need a distraction.

    • The stories are awful. I'm not enjoying any of them. All I'm left with is Sally in a plastic dress.

    • lol. But...SAME. in Mona's 'Good' voice.
    • I loved your rambling because you had some good thoughts.  Stopped watching Y&R years ago so can't comment on that, as far as Lame is concerned. No cares in the world.
    • 5-7   All I took from that episode was how much I love Damian and Lily and Billy needs to STFU. I KNEW HE WAS PRESSED how Nikki came into the office the day he had to leave it and would want payback on her, too. Whiny a$$.
