Maggie: Well, seeing the old jersey just brought back a lot of memories.

Kristen: Oh, please, don't let that stop you.

Maggie: I was just wondering why john went to so much trouble to find it and to give it to you now.

Kristen: I don't know. It's weird, isn't it? It's kind of like Neil Curtis dropping off a Hummel to add to your collection at victor's, right? I mean-- and then asking you to take a stroll down memory lane.

Maggie: Not exactly. Because for us, it--it simply would be possible to have a nice stroll.

Kristen: I know, it's hard to believe that john would actually want to bury the hatchet. Unless, of course, it was in my back. Well, anyway, I mean, you talked to Brady. He thinks it's very weird that john would want to do that. What did he say?

Marlena is also oddly absent in this story. Like, she needs to be on as much as that damn Jennifer has been.

Yeah, as fan of the Marlena/Kristen rivlary, I've been disppointed with that aspect of this storyline. John trying to make Kristen fall in love with him again would make a little more sense if he involved Marlena in his plans. It would be awful if Marlena believed John was trying to get back with Kristen.

The odd thing is initially when Kristen returned to town, there were a lot of scenes between Marlena and Kristen - Marlena was trying to trip Kristen up. Ever since John discovered that Marlena knew about the affair, she has been sent to the back of the room to be meek.

Ok.....what was said about Neil???

Thanks you guys. That's REALLY cray-cray because Maggie/Neil were WAYYYYY before Kristen's time. Wasn't that on or around the Evan Whyland (Lane Davies) storyline? I just can't see Maggie having ever confided in Kristen, sane at the time or not, about her decade(s) old relationship with Neil Curtis! But I did LOVE this part of the exchange:

Ikr!! Neil left to make rounds in 1991 long before Kristen arrived in Salem. I miss ole Neil, Joseph Gallison was living here in GA at one point, teaching if I am not mistaken. Thanks both of you for share the dialogue with me.

I just figured that Kristen had heard about Niel over the years from jennifer or something.

Yeah, everyone in Salem knows everyone else's history. It's a nosy town! Nothing unrealistic about Kristen knowing about Maggie's past.

Dialogue is superfluous for Ericole scenes since all they do is eyef*ck each other. It's very soapy all this angst and longing.

It's an odd day when Kristen and Brady are the most boring aspect of an episode. Jeanne Marie Ford has improved a lot as a SW - she has always been good with historical references, but she has upped her game in other areas now.

Neil is also Sarah's father, and Kristen and Maggie used to be friendly, so it makes sense that Kristen at least knows who the father of Maggie's child is.

Maggie doesn't remember Sarah. All she cares about is Daniel.

Marlena is also oddly absent in this story. Like, she needs to be on as much as that damn Jennifer has been.

AMEN!!! I am not sure why she isn't on as much. However, from Deidre Hall's FB posts months ago, she has some good stuff coming up with Eileen soon (which is probably next year, given the taping schedule of this show! lol)

Thank you! This was my favorite rivalry on this show in the 90s. JER really knew how to write a good rivalry. I'm not sure why Tomlin doesn't have a pulse on this show. Any decent, good, or great storyline on this how has always traditionally involved Deidre Hall. He should be at least be trying to get her into a good B storyline if he doesn't want to make her front burner anymore. As I said before, Deidre Hall being the face of Days has NEVER hurt this show in the past--only helped.

Nicole and Vargas are hot, but I'm over them already!

Agreed. They are hot but the scene that really stood out was the one between Nicole and Eric afterwards. AZ was on fire, reminding me what a good actress she really is.

Marlena vs. Kristen is the supercouple rivalry that keeps on giving. I couldn't care less about what half-baked 'plan' John has up his sleeve.

I too am mystified by Marlena's absence -- not just in this story, but also as a talk-to for Will. It's stupid from a story perspective, and it doesn't make much business sense, since DAYS' highest ratings over the past 30 years have come when she's center stage. I know the show can't afford to play her like in years past, but c'mon --is one or two days a week too much to expect? And I say this as someone who hasn't been particularly fond of the character since she came back in 1991!

It sounds to me like she heard about him from Maggie, when they were coaching the Mooses.
