Agreed.
There needs to be much higher stakes in both of these storylines. When it comes to the conflict, it's like the writers only scratch the surface a little instead of really going there with high stakes drama. I wouldn't mind all the scenes of talking, if a lot of those scenes just dissolved into full on arguments or fights. And I was hoping we would get a full on custody battle as well, if anything, just to use the courtroom set again, which at this point, seems like just a waste of money on an already cash strapped show.
And honestly, the stalker thing should be tearing Alex and Stephanie apart, not bringing them closer together. You could've gotten so much drama out of Stephanie eventually coming around and thinking that Jeremy isn't the stalker, while Alex becomes more and more determined to prove that he is. Alex could even like use Sophia's mother or someone in order to get Jeremy fired from his teaching job.
Even with the excuse that the writers gave us about basically being in a holding pattern until they heard news about the renewal, I don't get why their choosing not to go there with any storyline. It can't be a budget issue.
He pleaded guilty to a lesser assault charge and got like community service or something.
