Once when Ned came back to town for something and said Lois sent her love, and then one time, during the Hooklynn years, Monica said something along the lines of "if Ned and Lois spent as much time on their daughter as they do running around Europe together". I may not care so much for these characters anymore, but initially, the Brenda/Sonny/Jax triangle was very well constructed. At the time, I would often switch which pairing I was rooting for by the episode. That all evaporated by the time of Brenda's 2002 return when I just didn't care anymore. I always firmly believed Lois and Brenda as BFF's more so than I ever did Brenda and Robin. Brenda often felt like Robin's mother...
