Worst Soap Stan Wars of all Time?

OLTL also had some type of mess in the dying days of the pre-Internet (broad use of the Internet) where Roy Thinnes got threats or something, and some blamed Clint Ritchie fans, or something. I don't know. It was a mess. I remember people talking about it years later.

Weren't they urine yellow? (or was that just those ads)

The thread design at Mediadomain, the collapse type, is what used to confuse me. Most major boards dumped that a long time ago.

Aw, I loved Mediadomain and always will. Yes it is the ghetto of soap fandom but frankly we need a ghetto. A lot of the worst things attributed to Mediadomain are just urban legends, or are true but don't take into consideration the positives that came out of MediaDomain-- many great spoofs.

GL had the most couple names because that show's fandom adopted them before any of the others did.

To me it was Broe/Phoe for DAYS. The soap press loved it and rabid fans ate it up, meanwhile there were many fans who were like wtf go away Ghoul Girl.

Yeah, that [!@#$%^&*] annoyed me, too. For me, it was one of many, many situations where I felt as if everyone involved was bound to lose, regardless of which pairing was supposed to be endgame.

Oh please, you KNOW it's F&F vs. Felicia and Luke! (Fluke) ;)

The greatest couple of all time.

There's some old newsgroup thing from the Port Charles days still online, and there were some people going nuts over Kevin & Lucy vs Lucy & Scott.

I eventually came to appreciate (but not like) Nadia Brojlin/Chloe but at that point why were people flipping out when both were dreadfully bad ugh.

Granted, I never saw Brady/Chloe, but I did like what I did see of Philip/Chloe...

IIRC, before "Mattessa," the only couple even to have a portmanteau was DAYS' Bo and Hope (or "Bope"). Any and every couple from before the Internet that has one today gained theirs retroactively.

I refuse to believe any two people fought over the likes of Greenlee [!@#$%^&*] Smythe.

For a minute there, I thought you were going to say GreenLeo vs. Leo/Laura... I know the GreenLeo stans roasted poor Laura (and Becca Tyree, for that matter) over the coals...laugh.png

No one ever should kick a girl while she's down...but when it came to Laura Kirk English...well, can't say that I blame 'em.

What about Bo/Hope fans vs. Bo/Carly fans vs. Bo/Billie fans? Of course, I guess RKK's Bo and the different Billies have to be factored in here, too.

I don't think there were any RKK Bo/Hope fans, or any Bo/Billie fans beyond RKK/Rinna Bo/Billie.

Believe it or not, I read in the UO thread at TWOP once that there WERE a few Leo/Laura fans back then. Weird stuff happens sometimes. Hell, there were even a few Sonny/Lily fans (definitely not Miguel/Brenda, though).

In any case, while I didn't watch AMC, one of the first things I remember in my early days of OLTL is seeing Leo/Laura's wedding rained out right before the latter show came on. I was 12, so it definitely left an impression.

I remember the first I saw was "Jeva." I thought it was stupid, and still do.

I know Quint and Nola fans called them "Quola," but I'm not sure if that was just later on.

And of course "Folly" and "Rolly." I never knew who decided Roger and Holly should have a dog name.

Gwen & Ethan vs Theresa and Ethan

Eric Martsolf said that a woman in a grocery store threw a kiwi at him because "he" cheated on Gwen with Theresa. mellow.png
