January 10, 201313 yr Author Member Really? I'm not disputing what you're saying, VH, but that was not my impression at all. From what I saw, it seemed as if Sonny/Brenda fans saw Jax as some uber-slick Eurotrash interloper (which is strange, since Jax is, you know, Australian?) coming between "their girl" and the only man who could ever truly understand her, while Jax/Brenda fans adored Jax's perceived sophistication and felt Sonny was little more than a low-level hood who'd bring Brenda only sorrow and gunshot wounds. (This was, of course, was before Sonny shot Carly in the head.) Then again, maybe I was looking in the wrong places. Yes, really - at least, per my experience on message boards. While I've gone back and forth to argue the fine points of S&B with an equally-passionate J&Ber (complete with the Jax is second-string vs. Sonny is a greasy thug debates), never once did the conversation ever disintegrate to a point where folks were sending voodoo dolls to Maurice Benard (well, at least, not because of any J&B love) or making friends with the writers in order to get them to skew a story in S&B's favor and fire Ingo Rademacher (sp?). I guess I've been lucky enough to not have come across the message boards that took it to the level that the stans of this century have. What can I say - we S&Bers/J&Bers are a sophisticated bunch of stans...
January 10, 201313 yr Member They had one fan- my stepmother. You should tell her about Crystal's book.
January 10, 201313 yr Author Member Jeva fans v. RnJ fans (GL): People on many boards (preferably SOC) were livid when Reva and Josh ended together; however, I wasn't. Again at SOC, Tangeline v. TnB fans. It got heated, but wasn't that bad. JessTonio v. Jash fans. Hart/Dinah v. Hart/Cassie Paul/Meg v. Paul/Ro v. Paul/Emily Jack/Carly v. Craig/Carly Georgie/Dillon v. Lulu/Dillon Why am I not surprised that SOC is the common denominator in all this madness?
January 10, 201313 yr Member What did they say? http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/2012/08/12/brooke-vs-taylor-the-real-life-edition-fan-sparks-twitter-drama-between-bold-and-beautifu
January 10, 201313 yr Member What did they say? Stan tells KKL that HT fans say nasty stuff about her and HT doesn't try to stop it. KKL asks HT why doesn't she talk to her...HT tells her not to get caught up in the hype...LOL. Go to this DC post below to see the tweets. http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/2012/08/12/brooke-vs-taylor-the-real-life-edition-fan-sparks-twitter-drama-between-bold-and-beautifu
January 10, 201313 yr Member Phillip/Beth vs. Lujack/Beth would've been an interesting fan war, for sure. Perhaps. Keep in mind, though, GUIDING LIGHT, along with the other P&G soaps, tended to stay above the fray, so to speak, whenever it came to love triangles and fan wars. I mean, I'm sure both PnB and Bujack had their defenders. However, in the end, I feel as if most were civilized enough not to believe one pairing was "better" than the other, and that the show, as it was back then, would have satisfied them regardless of the outcome. Of course, all that changed with the advent of Matt and Vanessa. Seemingly overnight, they, and their fans, turned a show what had never been a "couples-driven" show into one; and once GL openly catered toward them, it was a slippery slope downward (to Manny, to Jeva, to Rassie, and eventually, to Jammy and GusH). January 10, 201313 yr Member Speaking of which, there should probably be a thread dedicated to soap couple nicknames. GL had SO many.
January 10, 201313 yr Member What about Roman/Marlena vs. John/Marlena fans? Doubtful. When Wayne Northrop returned in '91, DAYS went to such lengths to make "RealRoman" so unappealing and boring, even fans who had 'shipped Roman & Marlena BITD preferred her with John.
January 10, 201313 yr Member What about Bo/Hope fans vs. Bo/Carly fans vs. Bo/Billie fans? Of course, I guess RKK's Bo and the different Billies have to be factored in here, too. Edited January 10, 201313 yr by MissLlanviewPA
January 10, 201313 yr Member I've seen a few scenes with them before and thought they seemed alright together. Max and Maggie were...fine. But a lot of antipathy toward them stemmed from the fact that Maggie was so hung up on starting a clown school, of all things. Not Claire Labine's finest hour. If I ever got to see a flashback fan reaction to any ATWT triangle it would be Jennifer/Bob/Kim. That outraged and likely divided viewers, and went against everything ATWT had stood for. The reactions must have been fascinating. I've the feeling, though, it would have been less a fan war, and more a fan campaign to have Bob killed off, or at least neutered.
January 10, 201313 yr Member I forgot about the Stan wars on PSSNS Charity & Miguel vs Kay & Miguel Gwen & Ethan vs Theresa and Ethan Whitney & Fox vs Theresa and Fox Lindsay ( Theresa)fans are the most hateful people. They was saying racial things about Brooke Kerr. Calling her hair nappy & some other hateful things. & they always got something nasty to say about Liza Huber looks. & Lindsay herself is just average in looks & below average in acting. January 10, 201313 yr Member Was there ever any fan war between Frisco/Felicia vs. Mac/Felicia fans? Seems like it would be a good candidate for one. Nah. Frisco/Felicia vs. Colton/Felicia. That's where the money is.
January 10, 201313 yr Member Nah. Frisco/Felicia vs. Colton/Felicia. That's where the money is. Oh please, you KNOW it's F&F vs. Felicia and Luke! (Fluke) The ones over Scott would have been interesting BITD: Laura vs. Lucy vs. Dom vs. Eve. Hell, throw Heather or Tracy in there, too. Edited January 10, 201313 yr by MissLlanviewPA
January 10, 201313 yr Member Lately, I've been reminiscing about the vicious stan war between John/Natalie and John/Evangeline on OLTL and while it was, by far, the worst that I've ever seen, I'm sure that there were plenty others that were far worse that unfolded during the decades-long existence of soaps. So, whether it's be a rivalry between stans of certain characters or shippers of certain couples, I'd like to know which stan war(s) qualifies/deserves the title as the worst ever... What say you, SON? To me it was Broe/Phoe for DAYS. The soap press loved it and rabid fans ate it up, meanwhile there were many fans who were like wtf go away Ghoul Girl. I eventually came to appreciate (but not like) Nadia Brojlin/Chloe but at that point why were people flipping out when both were dreadfully bad ugh.
