I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Same here. I've heard some stuff I like and some stuff I don't but I will judge these shows by what shows up on screen.

I cant with all the jumping to conclusions and proclamations of how the shows are going to turn out based on NOTHING.

Another reason I highly doubt OLTL will jump 5 years is that in the castings for Matt & Destiny she was changing Drew's diapers

I mean. I expected AMC to flop the minute they named the writing team. McPherson...Really? Someone who thought a good storyline involved a middle aged lady shrink possessed by satan. Really????

It sure got DAYS to #2 in the ratings and the story was JER's idea.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have Erica be the one that was shot and have her be in a coma until Lucci can film more episodes

But that would certainly make crossovers a big problem with Llanview in 2013 and Pine Valley in 2018 (unless they try and make it seem as if what happened when the show left AMC take place five years earlier than what it did in real time for some reason).

The key to time jumps is to not specify what year it is. It's just "five years later."

Why are people so surprised DC is part of this, I figured he might cause he lives close enough to where the show is being taped and wouldn't have to do it full time

Not to reignite the old "Agnes Nixon is involved" meme, but setting it around those kids and casting hard for them sounds a lot like the old bird's idea as much as PP's. She's always been very fond of her youth sets. I'm not going to damn it until I see how it works. I don't think it's a bad idea if it's done well.

I do think the time interval is a fine idea on its own but could get messy in terms of crossovers, especially if OLTL doesn't and it doesn't look to me like they are. (And I wouldn't want them to, given ongoing events on GH - the last thing we need is for the GH/OLTL situation is to turn into some sort of Dallas/Knots Landing nightmare.)

I'm not surprised about Susan. She's busy and she's given her whole life to that show. I do think she'll be back later. In the meantime, you can set up story in the shadow of Erica Kane.

Yay to the 5 year jump if it turns out to be true. AMC needed that jump. Hopefully they use it wisely.

Yes....that is true. However that concept was certainly lost on ABC soaps as of late...particularly OLTL.
