I'm with marceline on this actually. I'd do some recasts, first and foremost. There's really no "can't" to it in getting some recent Kanes, Martins or Chandlers due to the ability to recast. If it's only 2-3 recasts, I'd fill up the rest of the cast with past characters and a small dose of new characters.

An influx of too many past characters (with new actors) and new characters has been a turn off to me in the past (Santos family and all the teens in the mid 1990s) so I also think there's a fine-line in doing a "refill."

Didn't original Tara mention recently she would love to return? I know she now has a rep for being slighty, ummm, eccentric, but. If Kelsey comes back I want her to bring her gay best friend Kevin Sheffield :P

Yeah, one new family, or new small group of characters (teens or whatever) makes sense to me. But there really has to be some recognizability to Pine Valley when they start the show--they can't just pretend ALL these people moved away or never show them, and I would trust PP knows that (even if i shouldn't trust PP on anything).

Yeah the suggestion for Wendy Riche to be in Fozz's position seems ill informed (from the little we have been told). Wasn't he hired for the tecnical end based on past experience getting webisodes of shows online? It's not an EP producer in the way Riche liked to be (including a strong creative vision) and I'm not even sure she has, or wants the knowledge of how to get a show online.

That would depend on the stories wouldn't it? I feel like people have this laundry list of characters that these shows must have and anyone missing from those list is seen as a detriment even though we have no idea what stories they want to tell. I'm more interested in what stories these people plan to tell, then we can determine characters.

Current casting makes is seem like the hospital is going to be a focal point and if the show is going for more reality based stuff I say bring back Bianca and the Miranda Center. That gives us an entry point for a diverse bunch of poor and middle class characters. Plus I'd bring back Maya as an extended part of the Hubbard family as part of the younger set. I suppose a recast Colby might help fill that group out.

I think all shows need a big family/business rivalry so a recast JR and Scott Chandler can give us that. Maybe a new crop of people working at Courtland Electronics, be it Petey or someone new. I'd prefer not to ever see Cambias again but if we have Zach it makes sense.

Jesse's a cop so I say bring on another cop for him to work with. Either a peer along the lines of Tad (assuming MEK doesn't join) or a younger cop to mentor like Brot was.

As for fantasy casting, I tend to stay away from that. Most of my fave soap actors were people I'd never heard of so I'd rather give new people a shot at these roles and see where lightning strikes. The NY theatre scene is right there. Use it. Although I like the suggestions of Sarah Brown as Kendall and the dude who played Brody on OLTL (name?) as JR.

I'd rather go with new characters rather than try to dig up a character like Julie or Charlie. Other than their pedigree what do they bring besides nostalgia?

All of this is JMHO, of course.
