HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Members

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Walt Willey hasn't been contacted. From his Twitter:

"Until I hear from Prospect Park, I'll be looking forward to seeing you on the road!"

Well, unfortunately he really has no story without Erica. They could certainly try to write for Jack though.

Yes...I don't remember the genealogy (if I ever knew it to begin with) but I clearly remember Wanda Wolek calling him "cousin Asa."

I thought she just did that as a joke - she saw herself as part of the family so she wasn't going to put on airs with Asa.

I don't think RPG will be part of this either, he's got a new show coming out for HGTV. I wonder if Chrishell will do it

Wasn't she planning to leave the show while it was in NYC and when it moved to LA she stayed on recurring? I can't see her doing it in Connecticut unless she has a more flexible contract.

Wondering if they will film like PC did and only do 6 months a year.

I'm shocked Kassie DePaiva hasn't jumped in yet, they must not have asked her lol

I agree with Jonathan about PP. I think they'd do this again if it means saving their neck(so to speak). The fact that they're only doing this now, when they know the rights are ready to revert back to ABC doesn't make me want to give them any benefit of the doubt. From what Jamey G said on twitter they're basically like kids who have a toy they don't want to play with, but yet don't want anyone else to touch or play with it either....

Which has me thinking we'll see a lot more new characters in the vein of Maya (who I would love to see back on the show).

And personally that's fine with me. I WANT this show to be different. I want a reboot/reset/time jump. I want new characters mixed in with familiar faces. That's why I have no list of "must have" characters or actors. Obviously there are people I'd enjoy seeing again but I think it's very much in the interest of these shows to look at how they can be different than what came before rather than a continuation of it. Frankly David and Cara are an excellent place to start because David represents the history and Cara is full of potential.

I don't want AMC 2.0 to become AfterMASH or Saved By The Bell: The College Years.

All of that said: I have no hope for this at all if they don't work out a deal with the WGA.

Chrishell seems fully entrenched in Hollywood. I don't see her committing to this project unless she is hurting for money.

I loved CS but Amanda is easily recastable. Considering it will be at least a year and a half and the show will likely address a time jump, they dont need to stick with a similar cast as they left off. It'll be interesting to see what characters are gone, which ones come back and what new ones are created to fill in the gaps.

This version isn't going to net the same amount of viewers. But can it be successful relative to other web series? I think so.

I dont think anyone expects it to net the same amount of viewer but Im pretty sure the amount of viewers it will get when it finally launches will most likely have been less than what it could have gotten had it launched closer to AMC/OLTL's final episode.

Wasn't Chrishell always on the verge of leaving, even when the show was on ABC?

ITA.

And yes, the role of HW is what worries me the most.nbe.jpg

she went recurring to keep her options open but she was always commited to AMC. Its not like she was taking breaks to go out for auditions during polot season

Re: Chrishell: From what I recall, she was going to quit to try primetime and such. They even started an exit story for her where Jake ended up back with Cara and Amanda was going to leave. Then the cancellation happened and she figured she might as well stay until the end. Either way, I highly doubt we see her on on any reboot unless it is a very occasional appearance.

For me, as long as there are a fair number of vets(doesn't have to be a TON, but a decent number) to anchor the show, I am open to anything else. I would love to see Opal back and bringing back the boarding house. That would be a good venue to introduce characters,

If they recast her I hope they find an actress that can pass as Kate Collins or Robin Mattson's daughter.

Glad to hear that VI has signed on for AMC! I hope Lindsay Hartley ends up joining as well. I would love for one of the big stories to be about Cara/David and their new baby icon1.gif

I'm getting a little excited about this now. I hope everyone from the PV hospital crew signs on. Would love to see Debbi, Jordi, RPG, Cornelius, LH & VI all working in hospital setting again ;-)

Who, in SORAS time, is actually ready for college. ;)
