GH: OFFICIAL 20+ Year Vet Out!

  • Members

Steve Burton is done with the show!

TV Guide Magazine: Word is, this is one of the most amicable soap exits ever — no money battles, storyline complaints, testy negotiations. Where's all the drama, dude?

Burton: I've been through 21 years of ups and downs with GH— regime changes, cast and crew changes, budget cuts, shakeups of one kind or another, and it's been nothing but a huge positive in my life and for my family. I have no complaints, no negative feelings at all. But it's time to go. I'm going to take some time off and do nothing but relax, just enjoy life a little bit with my wife and kids. I've bought a home in Tennessee, way out in the country outside Nashville. [Laughs] Probably too far out in the country! I've been talking about leaving GH and moving there for the last seven years. The timing was never right and then the economy crashed and I couldn't sell my house in California. I went there many years ago when I did the movie The Last Castle and loved it. Tennessee reminded me of growing up in Ohio. The people are nice, it's family oriented and, now that my kids are 6 and almost 9, I want to get them planted. My contract was coming up at GH so we put the house up for sale again and it went in, like, eight weeks. That opened the door for me to leave GH.

I won't lie, I'm sad about this. We're losing another Quartermaine and I've been enjoying Jason now that the show doesn't revolve around him. I thought Carlivati had just barely tipped the surface in what he could do with Jason. I wanted to see more with Jason and Liz and I just enjoy him being there. I like the relationship with Carly and Michael, Sam and John, even Sonny. It's going to be weird to never have him there.

And I will whip out the end of that "Simpsons" episode with Journey's "Any Way You Want It".

Now, about this Maurice Benard guy....

Agreed! I wish Maurice had left first. Sonny has needed to go long before Jason. He and Kate just ruin the show for me, with John now a close second.

That exit would crash this board.

I don't believe for a second he was happy with the new regime and how his character wasn't the center of the show anymore.

I agree completely! It's not a coincidence he leaves once Guza is gone. Sure there's still Jason propping but it's not nearly like it was with Guza.

Speaking of Guza I wonder if he's ready to jump off a building yet ;)

I like to picture Guza and Frons in some shanty town sleeping in refrigerator boxes and dining on squirrel meat talking about the the good ole days.

Off Steve goes to good ol' Rocky Top:

I wonder if his Orange BFF Scott Reeves will be joining him there soon?

Let me make it clear: Steve Burton's exit in no way means GH is suddenly fantastic again. We are a LONG way from that, folks. In fact, time may run out before we get even halfway there. But I am sick and tired of "actors" such as Burton stinking up my TV screen and being "rewarded" for their "talent" with golden-child status by TPTB. So he left of his own accord, who cares? He's gone, and I couldn't be more thrilled.

But again, about Mo B....

I wonder if his Orange BFF Scott Reeves will be joining him there soon?

If that happens, I will so get back into church. I'm not kidding.

Ugh, this orange mofo looks like he belongs in a box of chicken! Can't stand him!

I suddenly have an image of Burton driving a U-Haul hauling his crap and GH memorabalia to to the tune of John Denver's "country road". He can easily substitue West Virginia for Tennessee.

Okay now...Maurice next please?

If it is possible for an entire message board to have an orgasm, this board will have one on the day Bernard leaves.

We's gonna be seein' Gawd, that's for sure. ;)

No wonder they were rushed into bringing Tea back. They've got to wrap up the baby switch story so they can get to SB/Jason's exit. LOL. I don't see Jason "leaving town" after he finds out the whole truth about the baby, my guess is he'll find out, have a nice reunion w/Sam, and then die tragically.

Jason was a tiring, overexposed character but I will miss him a little bit. I didn't hate him as much as most here clearly do. LOL! I am NOT looking forward to Jawn McBain completely taking over his place now rolleyes.gif And in every aspect; I see him becoming BFF's w/Sonny and getting married to Sam by February sweeps.

The only exit I'll accept for Sonny is one in a bodybag. Imagine if that "Amazing Grace" montage was his real death!

And at this point, they should just write both Kelly and Steve off, there has never been a point for Sam even with Jason. So just cut the character loose.
