Joanna Johnson OUT at B&B! At least temporarily.

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Karen recently made the move from the East Coast to Los Angeles -- and came out as a lesbian in the process -- but don't expect to see much more of Caroline's mom (at least, not this one). Her portrayer, Joanna Johnson, is currently producing the new CW medical drama, EMILY OWENS, M.D., which will premiere in the fall. As a result, Johnson is currently unavailable to tape more episodes, which is all part of the long-running understanding she's had with B&B's executive producer and headwriter, Bradley Bell. That means the broader story being planned for Karen and Danielle may have to wait, for now. "Unfortunately, Joanna's time is being taken up with this new show," confirms a show spokesperson. "Her storyline is not necessarily going away, but it's being refocused." On the bright side, the rep says fans can look forward to continue seeing more of Caroline's other mom, Dani, played by soap vet Crystal Chappell

I don't understand why this is called "bolting." They knew she was a producer. I'm sure she talked about this show with them.

I always assumed she was there on a short term basis and that the main story would be Danielle turning straight (if that character stays around).

I did not know that JJ was a producer. Nice to see that she has a major project.

It's a shame because she's really working this go around. Frankly Crystal Chappell does nothing for me in this role,not that she's had much to work with, but she even looks odd. I think it's how they are styling her which is utterly ridiculous. I don't think they ever planned on this being some big story. It was a stunt cast with CC and a way to get B&B some media attention.

I'm glad for JJ's career - it's really taking off. The main story was the reveal to Bill. I never expected Karen to be a front and center character, but it's always welcome when she's on screen. Will look forward to time when she returns. Now it makes sense why CC was brought in and REALLY taking a backseat. It's good that we'll get to see more of the Dani dynamic with Bill as well as her influence on Caroline.
