GH: Discussion for the Month of June

I've been rather upfront about Brenda being my favorite character (as well as the reason why I sat through a Guzafied GH for as long as I did), so while I did and do prefer her with Sonny over Jax, I can't truly complain about her last year or two being less than stellar (writing-wise). I quite enjoyed the return of her mother, as I got another piece to the puzzle of one of GH's best female characters. While it led to her tragic 'death', part of the reason why I was able to soldier without Brenda was because of the other great stories that were going on at the time.

I was never a fan of Liz and the roided goiter (or, well, any woman with him post-accident, as I believe that they could have and can do a lot better) because I found that the beginning of them equaled the end of what made her such a vibrant character to me in the first place (her snarky wit and endearing insecurity). The destruction of the Liz Webber character, IMO, rests solely on the shoulders of Bob Guza, as he preferred to ruin her character to prop the roided goiter.

The less I say about the Slagbeast's lies being the catalyst for driving Robin out of the very town that she called her home, the better.

I will admit that I have a soft spot for Kelly Monaco because of my enduring love for Livvie Locke, who was everything that Sam isn't. Had I not had prior experience in watching her on Port Charles, I'd have written her off, too. As it stands, her onscreen reunion with Michael Easton is why I care about her GH character (and, if I'm honest, his OLTL character) since...well, ever.

I honestly don't have a dog in the KA ugly or cute debate, but I will agree with you about wardrobe's insistence (on both OLTL and GH) in styling her as a bootleg Jessica Simpson instead of dressing her as the regular J. Crew chick that she is meant to be.

This is the only thing that I'll agree with you about.

I didn't know that he'd written out Luke Spencer

I got lost in this argument. What's your point? That Guza is a hack who didn't bring back beloved vets and use them properly anymore than Ron Carlivati? Or that the character of Lucy Coe wasn't valued by Guza? Can't figure out who it is you're insulting.

Nothing like harkening back to a long dead pairing on a short lived cancelled soap to determine preferences on GH. I feel better. I don't like them for the same reason you do like them. And more.

1. *sigh*

I'm not looking forward to sitting through another round of Todd being shat in Ron's never-ending quest to keep Hater Yellgado on a pedestal that she doesn't deserve to be on.

2. I wished McBain kicked the roided goiter in the fvcking throat after he asked if he was "OK".

3. Like Friday's episode, the only highlight was seeing Heather and Todd mix it up.

Todd shat on to prop Tea? Say what? Todd has been a deviant from the word go! There was no Tea when:

He raped Marty

He tried to rape Nora

He put Blair's child on the black market

...and all the other crimes he committed. We agree that Ron is a hack, but dont blame him for Todd.

    • Absolutely! Brad should've simply moved on from Lunacy. There's no point of freeing her, if you're not going to at least make an attempt at redemption or incorporating her into the fold. It happened with Quinn, who committed quite a few felonies before become the Forrester Matriarch.  Heck, keep Lunacy in prison and have Poppy/Finn discover that she gave birth to twins - 'Sunny' could've come on with a clean slate and still had Sheila/Finn and all the other drama. It certainly couldn't have been worse than what we've witnessed with the destruction of $B.
    • I would enjoy it if Swan popped up on BTG as an old one time friend/mentor of Anita’s for a cameo. This is just

    • I had totally forgotten that Courtney story. I see Burton was already phoning it in by that point.
    • omg I completely missed that, but now when I see it typed here in your post, it's obvious icky cringe. So now I just checked and Tomas said that -- on May 27 that he likes the author Carl Ivati.  He said it with sort of an accent, so I didn't catch the stupid joke or think about the spelling.   I remember when that aired, that I actually said to myself at the time, "I wonder if that's a Latin American author, and I will have to google him later." And now I see your post, and I see. Well that's cringe, and I feel stupid to have fallen for it.

    • There's a lot you don't need if you have the writing.  You don't even need large casts!  You could make do with a cast of 12-18 actors if the writing is there.
    • Thank you. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping around if your spouse actually knows about it. She’s just a cheating slut.
    • OMG...Robert Mandan! And Donna Mills is a child. I keep hoping for more of early Ross/Vanessa.
    • I get your point, but I also know that if the roles were reversed -- if a man were screwing around on a woman this way -- everyone would be all "All with his head!" When I say Vanessa needs therapy, I'm actually being kind, because I could begin and end with the fact that she's a cheating slut.
    • Is nobody going to mention the cringefest that is 'Carl Ivati'?
    • I've accepted we'll probably never see any of the Roger/Holly 1976-1978 storyline. Whenever any of Roger/Holly 1979 and 1980 storylines surface, those are must watch as they set in motion everything we saw a decade later.
