Classic Y&R: Nikki's early 1990's Miscarrage Question

There was a discussion about Jack and Nikki and this storyline was brought up. Does anybody know the exact air date that Nikki fell in the Ranch while pregnant with Jack Abbot's child? I know it happened in 1993 but I need the month and date. I am looking for the episode on youtube for a friend on facebook. I know most of the early 1990's episodes are on youtube (I can't believe how good William J. Bell's production of the show was and kick myself for watching Loving and AMC instead of Y&R.)

If you could post the episode, I'd appreciate it too.

Thanks!

Thanks CarlD2! I at least got that information. Hopefully, somebody can post the episode in the future. Was Jack's marriage to Nikki his longest marriage on the show? I know I can look at wikipedia but most of the time it's wrong.

Wow. So it kind of puts his proposal on today's show into persepective. I know on Wikipedia it says he was married to her from 1990-1994. At least Nikki is not a complete stranger like Genevieve and Emily were.

Hi!, I posted a few episodes from that storyline (I go by Passnum1 on youtube) but yes like Carl said I actually don't have the actual episodes where Nikki falls. I have a couple episodes that show the flashback to that clip like these 2:

(Starts at 2:03)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTl0gSOglng

(Longer flashback, starts at 1:40)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fpyuofo-ujk

Those scenes aired on February 10 and 11 1993, i looked it up on the Google archive message boards where you can find old postings about soap operas from the 1990's.

If i ever get a hold of the actual episodes. i will post them :).

Since we know from history (aka AMC and the Erica abortion fiasco), any bets on a retcon and the baby lived? That Victor stole the baby because it was product of Jack/Nikki. I was always thought it was the biggest mistake Y&R made to miscarry this baby because it would have had the Jack/Victor rivalry continue through someone far more important (Nikki). Not the same with Ashley giving birth to Victor's baby.

This is one retcon I would support as long as it doesn't end with endless scenes of the kid calling her a whore and carrying vendettas against her.

Oh gosh....How should i put this, Yes i agree it would be kind of nice if the baby survived after all, considering the heartbreaking scenes from the May 13, 1993 episode I uploaded where Nikki and Jack make themselves so upset over talking about their baby's death both Peter and Melody break down into tears and probably made the whole studio Cry... but man not with Maria still in charge...

Here's the actual scenes where Nikki and Jack breakdown over their son and Jack decides to go after Victor,( makes me cry everytime) get the kleenex out if you haven't seen them yet.

Watching these makes me wish that Victor should have fallen off a cliff years ago. The man is abosolutely horrible.

I was reading some of the user comments from these videos and a poster commented that why do folks want Victor and Nikki as a couple when he treats her so badly most of the time, I completely agree. He is just aweful to her the majority of the time. Belittling her and then buying her well fitting dresses from Fenmores does not equal love.

I agree, the Jack and Nikki baby most certainly should not have died at the time. It would have added so many layers. The most important reasons are having a tie between Jack and Nikki and giving Nikki a baby that is non-Newman.

And I agree, infortunately, retconing it with these current writers, they would not be able to pull it off. But OMG, having Jack and Nikki's child come back looking for his real parents after all these years and Victor being the one to orchestrate his dispearance and made it seem like the infant had died which led to Jack and Nikki making the decision to donate whom they thought was their baby's heart would be epic.

For years I could understand Nikki/Victor, as it was very complex and damaged on both ends. It was fascinating to watch. There is nothing fascinating about the relationship now. To have the writing come out and say, "This is abuse, and that means love," is just wrong. They also used to take long breaks with the characters. There's no reason why the characters have to be reunited and then break up over and over and over. The show just has no idea what to do with them, because the show hates women, and had destroyed Victor.

Also they brought back Billie's daughter who was stilborn (on screen!) So I could see them bringing back Nikki and Jack's kid. It would be totally Victor's doing. I kind of wish i was writng the show. I guess I can do fanfiction. LOL!

I loved Jack and Nikki as a couple back then. I hated Victor for causing the miscarriage. The baby would have been one of the show's most important characters. A rivalry with Jack/Nikki's offspring, Nicholas, and Victoria would have impacted the whole canvas of characters.

Man, I was the biggest Jack and Nikki fan on the planet back in the day. They were great together and even though the marriage started off kind of rocky and they got married pretty quickly they really fell in love with each other. Nikki wasn't just Jack's longest marriage but prior to Nikki, Jack never even gave the impression that he wanted to be married or have a family. He was "Smilin Jack the Playboy" until her.

They were loving and supportive of each other (and Jack was actually a damn good husband):

And they were also hot:

I don't know why Y&R insists on having Victor and Nikki break up every few months only to reunite a month later, but it's boring and exhausting. The longer breaks were nice and refreshing and Victor has become such a vile character now it's like a victim constantly returning to their abuser and the audience being expected to root for it.

    • Finally watched RHOM, and it was a packed episode.  First off, I agree that the women have plenty going on in their own lives that they don't need to be thrown together every episode for manufactured drama. I love seeing Guerdy doing her event planning, and Alexia basically breathing drama. She is a Bravo producer's dream in terms of her real life and her willingness to hold her own with the other women. She is the Alpha Dog. Secondly, I was ready to put Nicole in the one-and-done category, but she stepped it up this episode. First of all, the confrontation with her clearly-drunk dad which likely did not go the way she envisioned and was all the more organic because of it. Second, Nicole finally leaned into her inner Cubana -- you could hear it in her accent and greater use of Spanish with Alexia. I feel like this gave her toughness and allowed her to take on four women coming for her all dinner long. Now, do I think Marysol brought this up to thirstily keep the drama going and finally claim that mojito? Yes I do. Marysol is that HW. However, I 100% agree with you that Baby Nicole made a classic rookie mistake. She got involved in someone else's drama. And she talked out of turn about the women while Marysol took notes. She handled herself well but damage was done. Nicole did strike back with that 'Alexia talking about Marysol behind her back' comment. We will see how that shakes out next week, because Marysol looked like she believed it for a minute. Speaking of trying to land that mojito -- Adriana in the bath. Lord! And Julia soaping her back and ogling. I'm starting to think that Julia may not be very bright, although I did like her Voice of Reason throughout the dinner. Alexia spoke the Lord's Truth about Lisa bringing glam to the house. WTF? For a clambake where she wore jeans and a tank top? I love glamour and fashion and all that,  but glam-with-no-place-to-go has completely overtaken these shows in lieu of actual SLs, and it is completely ridiculous. I love that Alexia and Marysol did their own looks together and we got to see it. And this just echoes what an empty vessel Lisa is. All looks and fillers and nothing else. At least Larsa has a jewellery line to promote. The only thing I disagree on with you is Kiki. I love her fashion and hair looks. But she is like a ghost floating through this pack of women. When she said she needed to "caca," literally nobody reacted and I was like 'Do they not see her standing right there?'
    • Surely Bravo is not so stupid as to keep this newbie non-entity in the face of audience and cast disgust?? Bravo knows that keeping and coddling Brandi Redmond for the whole season was absolutely the worst decision it made in terms of RHOD. It killed the show, and was only one in a series of shaky decisions about race that Bravo made last year, even as it tried to embrace more diversity. Jennie just isn't important to the show like the S1 cast are and can be quickly dispensed with. I think Bravo is hastily trying to film the fallout from this week, whereupon Jennie will be exiled from 'the group.' That's my speculation. There will be lingering repercussions, of course, namely Lisa's flimsy condemnation of Jennie compared with Jen and Heather. My question is, what happens with the rest of this current season? Not to mention Reunion which will probably feature Jennie quite a bit. Without Mary there, she likely controlled the narrative when it came to their beef. Is Bravo re-editing to minimize her role, or will they be front-loading Jennie attacking Mary so as to reinforce what an awful person she is? Honestly, Bravo just needs to film Jennie being dropped from the group, and maybe pause production for a few weeks while it assesses some newbies and gets its act together.  (P.S.: Speaking of RHOD, would love to see Tiffany and D'Andra pop up in SLC. For some reason, I think they'd be a good fit).

    • I guess 1985 when Jack hired Nikki as a Jabot model (which happened around Mar 85). Not sure when they slept together, but I believe there were plenty of smooches at Jabot. It was the same time Victor rescued Ashley. Also Matt turned up about the same time and he and Nikki definitely made eyes at each other too and eventually (though not until 1986) planned to marry. In 1986 Nikki went back and forth between Jack and Matt while remaining hopeful about Victor.
