Jeanne's acting can't be blamed on LML or MAB. Other actors (Jess Walton for instance) have risen above bad writing and turned manure into fertilizer. Jeanne just got lazy.

Jeanne's acting can be blamed on LML & Maria.

While Jeanne has gotten lazy (to some degree) & while Jess has had her share of bad stories & backburnering Jill hasn't been written anywhere near OOC as Katherine that would cause Jess to do anywhere near as much heavy lifting in terms of acting as Jeanne has done to make Katherine's actions work (adopting Amber & Kevin, digging through landfills, marrying Murphy).

Smith and LML may have completely changed Nick, but it was for the better.

They completely changed the character for the worst. That's why Nick has become as much (if not more) of a dead end as many "fans" claim Sharon to be. Because as much as Sharon has supposedly been "ruined" she's had plenty of stories beyond Nick since the divorce. How many has Nick had?

He had personality. He had a sense of humor.

He had those things under Bell & Alden. Except under Bell & Alden Nick was allowed maturity & dignity.

Now his humor involves greasy hair & dude jokes.

He wasn't the stiff, wooden, cookie-cutter soap opera meat head he was under Bell and Alden

Except Nick was never those things under Bell & Alden.

He was a strong male lead & half of a genuine supercouple.

There's a reason why Nick NEVER has story now unless it involves St. Giggly (which was never the case prior to their "relationship").

Heather Tom is an infinitely better actress than Amelia Heinle but her Victoria was written as a selfish, spoilt daddy's girl with ZERO likeable qualities.

Heather's Victoria had PLENTY of "likeable" qualities. And the fact that the character remained so sympathetic as she was (despite being just like Victor) is mainly Heather's doing.

And don't act like Amelia's Victoria wasn't selfish.

She spent the first 6 months of her stint fighting with Nick & whining about Abby & Ashley & Michael & Victor & Jack & Brad.

Originally Heinle's Victoria was written as a more mature, nicer version of Tom's.

That's the point. Victoria ISN'T nice.

And it was clear from the moment that Amelia was cast that the character would be written WAY OOC to justify Amelia's limitations & the fact that she was hideously miscast. Hence why the character went from business stories to sleeping with JT & getting baby rabies.

Really? I've never seen Diane Jenkins as 'nice' but I thought Walters' Diane was much more manipulative than Donnelley's. I can't picture Donnelley's Diane throwing herself under Phyllis' car or burning down the pool house (or doing half the things West's Diane did).

In no way was Walters Diane more manipulative than Donnelly's.

Donnelly's Diane was the one who stole & impregnated herself with Grambo's sperm (one doesn't get more manipulative than that).

The things Susan's Diane did (laying down in front of St. Giggly's car & burning down the poolhouse) were things Alex's Diane would have never done & Susan didn't have the edge to pull it off.

She played Diane like an desperate beauty pageant queen instead of the intelligent, accomplished businesswoman that Diane was.

I don't think Heinle was miscast as Victoria. I think she got cast for what they wanted Victoria to be. Didn't Heather Tom leave because she wasn't happy with the direction they were taking the character and didn't want to play it? Anyway Heinle as miscast as she supposedly is is still leaps and bounds better than Billy Miller.

I LOVED Rachel Kimsey as Mac. I thought she had good chemistry with JT and Kevin

I wasn't crazy about her with JT but I LOVED her with Kevin.

Agreed.

Which is the definition of being miscast.

Y&R cast an actress who purposefully would underwhelm to reduce the character to a glorified dayplayer to further prop Nick (and Sharon).

Didn't Heather Tom leave because she wasn't happy with the direction they were taking the character and didn't want to play it?

Yep.

She also quit because Y&R was going to severely cut her salary.

Kimsey's Mackenzie was horrible.

But she was a solid enough actress that had she been cast as a new character or a more suitable existing character (Megan) she would have had more of a chance at success.

I completely agree with this. Heinle's never been the problem. The writing has. And even at that, I don't think the writing for Victoria has been nearly as bad as most people here do.

Heinle is definitely the problem.

Victoria could be written out tomorrow & it wouldn't matter.

I still don't buy that it's Heinle. But to be honest I feel Billy and Adam could both leave do and it wouldn't matter.

I thought Heinlee was pretty damn good as Victoria in her first year or so. The writing was MUCH better for her and I thought she delivered. Bitch was fierce!

You could replace just about anyone on Y&R now.

Same can be said for GH at the moment.

Kelly Monaco is not a good actress and she doesn't look young and fresh anymore. There is no way Lindsey Morgan looks the same age as herwhen she has those age lines and visible bags.

Pretty much.

But it's especially noticeable with Heinle (Victoria has to be friends with fringe characters like Jana & Chelsea to get airtime).

I don't know how thats Heinle's fault that they won't write for her unless miller is on. That wasn't the case before she was paired with him.

Pretty much aside from maybe EB or MTS.

Sam is just such a dull character with really nothing about her that stands out. She's blah and bland and low energy. But consider who KeMo has worked with. Most females on GH are interchangeable.
