Renee Elise Goldsberry (Evangeline, OLTL) is in a Documentary Now! episode sending up the 1970 doc that chronicled the recording of the cast album for Stephen Sondheim's Company.

It's quite good, especially if you've seen the original doc.

Nelson Aspen clearly has a knack for conducting some very entertaining interviews with former soap stars, as he's done over the years.

Maybe he should crowdfund so that he can host a series of simple but elegant, intimate dinner parties with small groups of former soap stars from various canceled soaps.

I'd definitely watch that.

I miss seeing Marcia McCabe on my TV on a regular basis.  She's one of those actresses (like Gloria Loring (ex-Liz, DAYS)) whom you love instantly.

He's doing it on his dime, so I guess that's his prerogative to have the guests that he wants...even jerks like Goutman.

OTOH, a crowdfunded effort, he'd have to be responsive to what his donors want and we can pretty safely say that no self-respecting soap fan would want Chris Goutman included in a dinner party discussion anywhere near the best of what the soap genre has to offer.

Ronn Moss update

https://www.canberratimes.com.au/national/act/ronn-moss-s-intimate-evening-in-canberra-20190221-p50zbi.html

When RonnMoss speaks about Hollywood, it's worth listening.

Born and raised in the haze and heat of Los Angeles and a survivor of the voracious appetite of the world's most popular soap opera, Moss has chosen to edge away from the the epicentre of entertainment.

He quit The Bold and the Beautiful in 2012 after an incredible 25 years playing fan favourite Ridge Forrester. And it's only now he's prepared to talk about the real reason he did leave. (More on that in a moment.)

Moss moved out of Los Angeles, just ever so slightly, but enough to make a difference, to Ventura County to the north.

And while he is about to embark on a tour of Australia performing his music and telling stories about his life and career, Moss seems very happy to have said goodbye to Hollywood.

When asked how someone survives sane and healthy for so long in Tinsel Town, Moss is blunt.

"You don't. Sane and Hollywood are not two things that go in the same sentence," he said.

"I always consider myself down-to-earth and I think that's why I moved the hell out of Hollywood.

"I grew up in Hollywood, I've been there most of my life and I moved out into a little bit of the countryside to get out of Hollywood and I can't stand going back. It's hard for me to go back.

"But the insanity of Hollywood has just gotten worse to me. So I separate myself."

It's not the Ronn Moss we're used to,  this is someone a little more serious and introspective. We're more used to those tongue-in-check appearances on Rove when he'd joke about his ponchos and re-enact those suspenseful mid-distance stares on The Bold and the Beautiful.

He's still got that sense of humour. But it's as if freed from the shackles of Ridge Forrester he can be more himself, more candid.

So fill us in, how has Hollywood become more insane? Exactly.

"Oh, lots of ways. Politically, it's absolutely fricking insane," Moss said.

"And the insanity of showbusiness, it makes me not want to be a part of it, because of some of the people that are involved in it. And then I think of the creative aspects of it, and I go, 'Okay, I'm doing it for my own creative reasons but I'm not going to take all that bullshit that people go through with, with Hollywood'.''

Ronn Moss turned 67 on March 4, his hair and drop-dead gorgeous cheekbones still in place.Ronn Moss turned 67 on March 4, his hair and drop-dead gorgeous cheekbones still in place."I don't want to talk too much about politics but there's a liberal insanity that has taken over Hollywood and for me, I'm sorry,  but it is insanity. It defies logic, it defies human rationale. And I don't understand it."Is he talking about the #MeToo movement?"It's all of that. There's an insane sort of thing that's taken over," he said."And I know why it's happening but that would be far too long a conversation.... There's a force behind it that knows exactly what it's doing and everyone in Hollywood is falling for it"It's making them accuse everyone else of being racist and homophobic, whatever other adjectives you want to use, when they're actually the ones perpetuating it. I call it transference. Where you transfer to somebody else the very qualities that you are yourself projecting."But you transfer it to make sure everybody else is that way when, actually, it's you. That's kind of what's happening and it's happening on such a grand scale that I don't even want to go to Hollywood anymore." That much is clear. When Moss left The Bold and the Beautiful, he suggested it was simply time. And salary issues. But there was much more to it."I pretty much left Bold and the Beautiful because I felt I couldn't continue to do it,'' he said."I was in a pretty bad car accident which really debilitated my ability to keep going with that show. I think I'll probably talk about this when I come there for my shows because people keep asking and they don't really know the real reason.''The accident was in July, 2012, around the time he announced he was leaving The Bold and the Beautiful, a fixture of the soap since its inception in 1987"I kind of stayed mum about it because there was a legal aspect to it and the insurance. And I'm not one to complain, that's my problem. If I'd been one of the fricking complainers, then everyone would know, 'Oh, no, I was in an accident'," he said."I just kept that to myself because I didn't want to seem so much of a whinger. Is that an English term or is that an Australian term?
Actor Ronn Moss has two adult daughters but is in no rush for grandchildren, telling his daughters to "go out and enjoy your lives".Actor Ronn Moss has two adult daughters but is in no rush for grandchildren, telling his daughters to "go out and enjoy your lives"."I don't like doing that. My wife after the fact said, 'Why don't you tell people the real reason of what's going on?' and I was like, 'I don't want to whine about something like that'. I can't stand that."The accident virtually made it impossible for Moss to keep acting with the show."We got whacked really hard and I was kind of the centre of the storm and fractured my shoulder in three places and it gave me a bit of a concussion and it made it hard for me to memorise all the fricking dialogue we had to do on the show," he said."And I was just struggling for the last two weeks struggling to get through it, going, 'What the [!@#$%^&*] is going on with me?'. I lost all strength in my left hand, my left arm."And I went, 'Oh my God is this going to permanent? I don't know'. So a lot of things were compiling on me and I just went, 'I don't know if I can keep going on this show. I think I'm really at a loss here'. Because I'd never been in an accident before. I'd never had that experience before."The accident, as terrible as it was - he and his wife Devin DeVasquez were hit at full force by another vehicle while their car was stationary - it was a catalyst for change."This was just a facilitator for me to go and do something different," he said"The short story of it is, 'Things are thrown at you in life and you either pick up the ball and run with it or you try to fight against it'. And I wasn't going to fight against it, I was going to run.''He's certainly not in retirement mood. Moss turned 67 on March 4, a birthday he celebrated just ahead of his departure to Australia. He is producing movies in Europe. Keeping an eye on his two adult daughters - the boyfriends have been vetted. And excited to keep working and concentrating on his music. His show, called An Intimate Evening with Ronn Moss,  will feature clips, stories and music from his career.  He knew, at 11 years old, after watching The Beatles’ appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, that he wanted to play music, or be Ed Sullivan, or both. His band Player had a No.1 hit with Baby Come Back and toured with the likes of Eric Clapton, Heart and The Little River Band.Moss returns to Australia with his good friend, musician Jawn Star, performing alongside him, rather than a full band."We're going to do a very unplugged, very intimate, one-on-one thing with our Australian friends," he said.Moss' Bold and the Beautiful co-star Katherine Kelly Lang is also a regular visitor to Australia and recently appeared in the local version of, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! Would he consider doing that kind of show?"Over the last four years, they've asked me three times to do it and it's never really worked out,'' he said.Again, he says the car accident prevented him from doing I'm a Celebrity for Australian TV. It's a shame because, despite his more introspective musings, he seems like one Hollywood star who doesn't take himself too seriously."No, I definitely don't. And that's a trait I share with my Australian friends, just having a good sense of humour about things," he said.Ronn Moss appears at the Southern Cross Club in Woden on Thursday, March 21. Bookings 6283 7200 or online. For more on Moss go to his Instagram page.

In the loving arms of his wife, Dr. Marlena Evans, John took his last breath at the end of the June 2 episode, after suffering devastating internal injuries during a lab explosion. The iconic character went out as he lived — a hero. Sensing the fans’ devastation on Monday, Marlena’s portrayer Deidre Hall posted this simple-but-powerful message to fans on Instagram: “I know. I know. Hardest day ever.”

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.
