How about Frank Valentini/Ron Carlivati at Y&R?

IMO if OLTL online is dead in the water. I believe that CBS should replace Maria Bell with Frank Valentini and officially name Ron Carlivati as the new head writer of Y&R. IMO they would be IMO what Y&R needs. The show is an absolute disaster. In fact I would name Ron and Lorriane Broderick as co-head writers of Y&R and fire Hamner, Sheffer and Bell. The show needs a massive overhaul especially with declining ratings and IMO a character named Angelina UGH. Do you think Frank/Ron would be a good match at Y&R?

No. No. And no. While Bell and company are a train wreck, RC and FV would be much worse. RC only knows one way to drive story: plot, plot and more plot. His OLTL is a soap on speed, absolutely no depth or emotional beats. FV can keep a show under budget, but that's about it.

Uh NO. Y & R would be un recognizable, Vets hisrory would be completely changed.

Like it hasnt already with MAB.

I believe RC loves OLTL I really do.

I think so, too. In fact, there's no question in my mind whether RC enjoys writing for this show, or any other.

Of course, his OLTL has never pretended to be all things for all people, and I appreciate that, too. It's just his approach -- to OLTL as well to writing soaps in general -- is not what I tend to like where this genre is concerned.

Good point! (Jill is a Fenmore? Really?)

I believe RC loves OLTL I really do. And if you like camp OLTL and B&B are the shows for you. And I actually prefer B&B because I think in some odd way Brad Bell respects his leading ladies more. They would not work at Y&R, AMC or GH

I think RC loves the idea of a soap but he mostly loves the parody of a soap, not an actual soap. If he loved soap he would not constantly deify rapists and tell people that rape is love. Even Gloria Monty only did that once, not two or three times in a two year period. He would also not have spent the last few years ruining just about every family bond on the show (aside from the Delgados of course). In that sense he's right for Y&R - they've also gutted their families.

And that, too, would be fine if his attempts at parody and satire were more clever. For me, that's part of the problem w/ RC.

I think that he probably does have a very darker type of soap parody which he can't really do, so he just settles for the brilliance of HAVE A SEAT STEPNORA PA PA HAVE A SEAT, and the talking beaver.

Stuff like the infamous air quotes - that was probably down to TSJ but something tells me that this style is something RC may do if he had a chance on a non-network show.

Y&R would be campy with Brenda Dickson back as Jill

This always seems like an attractive option when you first hear it, but the 30 year old Brenda is no more. She has aged along with the others .I'm not so sure he would find her more interesting to write for today. Jess Walton's Jill could be divine with good writing.

Anyone would be better than MAB at this point so why not?

MAB sucks and seems power mad, if rumors are true, but the biggest problem is Sheffer. He pollutes any show dumb enough to hire him.

Many thought that about LML

I liked LML's Y&R so they could get worse than her and they did
