HWs should be like a Jesuit priest -- they break down a character before building them back up. Tucker is broke down, but if we had a talented HW there is no reason why he couldn't be built back up again. "Talented HW" is key, of course, lol.

SN should be written off the canvas. It's a shame because I loved him as Steve on Days and later as Stefan on GH. The range he showed in both roles! I rejoiced when he came to Y&R because I wasn't nuts about his predecessor who played Tucker as Peepaw McElvis.

As for Kay, the show has tried to paint her manipulative and selfish actions as some kind of selfless wisdom bestowing respectability on characters the audience hates (Cane, Kevin, Chloe) while pissing on beloved vets (Jill, mostly, but also Jack, Paul, Chance). That makes me despise her more, actually. I'm glad that they have given up trying to do that with the Devon story (for now). Jeanne Cooper's performance is actually the better for it.

Kay has always been a self-serving, self-absorbed, unstable character whose actions led to the death of two Philip Chancellors. She gave away other people's babies (and her own) when she was totally drunk off her ass, tried to ruin every one of Jill's marriages, kept Jabot out of the hands of the Abbotts (despite her self-proclaimed "loyalty" to the memory of John Abbott) and then tried to deny Tucker the chance to connect with his long-lost son. Granny Chancellor is finally exposed!

WTF? Giggly Heffa is forgiven by Malcolm for trampling over him in her rush to blast his family's secret across the internet? In the first 3 minutes of Friday's show?! [!@#$%^&*] you Y&R.

I thought the show was laying off showing Phyllis 24/7 because of negative viewer feedback and the fact that MAB wrote what was once the show's most promising triangle into the ground (and ruined Sharon in order to prop Phick). I guess I was mistaken.

It annoys me that during the last go-round with Jill, Katharine was written as a saint, and now, only when they want to try to exhume Tucker, is Katharine written in a more negative light. I also think the constant health crises are so morbid and patronizing.

I spoke too soon -- today's US episode wasn't just about propping Giggly Heffa, it was about re-positioning that halo atop Saint Granny's head. Swooping down to help YoHarmony -- right after she lectured Devon about his uncharitable attitude towards her.

IA about the health crises, they are morbid -- they also look like Kay is playing everybody by stroking out and then, one day later, making a miraculous recovery. Handing out alms to Yolanda comes across as equally self-serving. Right now she's trying to bribe her way into Devon's affections with the record company deal. I'm betting that when Devon starts to show interest, she will snatch it away from him (Aha! That'll teach ya!) like she does Jabot with Jack.

Not crazy about the way Debbi Morgan is playing Yolanda/Harmony so far -- much too tough, much too hard. I don't want a weeping mess, but the character's too different from old Yolanda.hable.

The name change is laughable. First Candy, then Yolanda, then Harmony. It's ridiculous.

I used to be a Phyllis lover, from her first scene till about 2003 and then she started to eat the show alive. Michelle Stafford became a "star" at Y&R, the only soap, so far as I can recall, that never had a breakout diva or star (Eric Braeden's close, but he isn't Lucci or Slezak or Strasser or Wyndham or Dano or Zimmer)...and that's when I just had enough of Phyllis. She was the ideal supporting character, just like Michael Baldwin. The minute they both became leads, it was all over.

    • The thing with Martin (for me) is that he should have been Anita and Vernon's kid. I honestly think he would have been fine being an older or younger brother to Dani and Nicole. It also would have made his relationship and kids feel more realistic. A handsome salt and pepper late 40s/early 50s congressman who settled down and adopted kids to fit an image for politics. Not that he didn't want this lifestyle but it is what he needed to do to get ahead. Also, we don't often get older characters playing LGBT roles not just on daytime but across most media. It would have been a refreshing take. As an alternative, Sam and Ty could have been Martin's kids from an earlier marriage a la the NJ governor that was outed. We could have also seen parallels between Vernon and Anita thinking back to how they handled Martin coming out compared to the way they accepted Chelsea.  As for Martin being Nicole and Ted's kid, I do wish in this case he was not tied to a marriage and kids, so that he could date and sleep around like any other character on a soap.  Yeah, I didn't get it...but what I did get is that girl is a bit crazy like her mama.  Vanessa and Joey talking about the poker table...get these people off my screen.

    • Unpopular opinion, but I didn't think the show should have reunited Billy/Vanessa at all until the final stretch of the show. When watching the 1989 episodes when both Vanessa and Billy return after being off the show... I liked that Vanessa had moved on from him and that the show was hinting at her wanting to reunite with her first love Ross while looking down at Nadine for being the one Ross was dating.  And I loved the twist where Billy and Nadine teamed up to keep Vanessa/Ross apart.   This was an interesting concept that sadly the writers dropped with the show deciding to make Vanessa pine over Billy between 1990 and 1993 when they finally reunited.   To me, Vanessa pining over Billy seemed out of character. At least once Billy was carted off to prison in 1994... she and Billy divorced and stayed divorced until the final months when they finally found their way back together.  During the years when they were divorced, I liked that they had maintained a friendship and connection.. with viewers (like my late mom) wondering if they would ever decide to make it work again. I wish the show had tried that with Josh/Reva because by the time of the final episode when they rode off into the sunset, I didn't care because we'd been through the make up and break ups between them for over 10+ years by that point.
    • I break down the primetime soap era (start of Dallas to end of Knots Landing) as  Up to Spring 1982: Building the foundation. Fall 1982-Spring 1985: Peak. Fall 1985-Spring 1988: Tanking. Fall 1988 onward: Off the rails plus budget mode. Of course individual shows vary and I've broken down each show in their threads.
    • I’m ready for Portia and Curtis to divorce and get it over with. Portia cheating with Isaiah would make for a fun love quadrangle with Jordan.

    • They didn't need to have some slutty gay dude as their representation. Just a 'normal' guy getting involved with another guy or two (or three). Just like the straight characters. Thinking about it, they missed the boat by not having a few other single charcters at the beginning. Maybe Naomi or Ashley could be shown meeting Derek/Jacob and  we could follow their romance. Too many characters were coupled up at the start. As a tattoo hater I was surprised to see Tomas so inked. Don't find it attractive or sexy. I'm surprised an actor would do that as it's definitely a statement and may not be appropriate for some roles. Suppose they can cover if necessary. I didn't buy Kat being all girly and then paying off Darius to get into Eva's room. Way too cliche. She should have just come along when the housekeeping was leaving and breezed in saying it was her room. And her smug looks in the hotel room and 'Now I've got you!!' talks to herself at Orphey Gene's...no.
    • Omg I was so annoyed. Like girl calm down. Coming on way too strong. Omg I forgot about this
