September 16, 201114 yr Member I don't understand demo points does each point represent a number of people watching..??? What does each point represent numberwise. e.g. if GH lost .4 from last year what does that mean?
September 16, 201114 yr Member Good week for soaps. Simple as that. No need to break down all these numbers. What's the point?
September 16, 201114 yr Member I don't understand demo points does each point represent a number of people watching..??? What does each point represent numberwise. e.g. if GH lost .4 from last year what does that mean? What I understand is that for 18-49 for example it means that 1.1 percent of people watching TV at that time in that age group were tuned into GH Therefore I believe that means that .6% of the people watching TV at that time in that age group were tuned into GH AS a whole while the show has almost maintained its HH numbers from last year, less people in those age groups watching TV that time of day ar watching GH. You can apply the same logic to any of the shows. Someone can correct me if I am offbase but I think thats primarily the formula used.
September 17, 201114 yr Member After shedding viewers for 4 weeks straight, that's a nice bounce back for OLTL last week. But it's interesting the gains came from men and not the females. Despite Y&R's big gains back, OLTL tied for #1 in 18-34 demos and that's the amazing story of the last month really. J, you asked and here are the 2011 monthly averages: 2011 Monthly averages: Jan 2011 2,541,300 619,500 Feb 2011 2,601,316 647,250 Mar 2011 2,447,130 594,600 Apr 2011 2,598,048 670,000 May 2011 2,561,667 647,000 Jun 2011 2,552,636 644,400 Jul 2011 2,679,450 640,250 Aug 2011 2,840,739 735,400 Sep 2011 2,736,500 690,000 Male viewers are kingmakers. I remember ATWT only doing well when they ranked 3 or 4 in men. The guys push a soap over the top.
September 17, 201114 yr Member The outdoor scenes were way better on ATWT then GL. It would have probably worked for ATWT. It didn't for GL probably because at first the camera's were very shaky and viewers left in droves. Wasn't GL doing worse at the time before it went outdoors? Yes and no regarding GL--the soap had a smaller budget and ran at different times across the country; however, the demos were only a tad bit weaker than ATWT. In 1999-2000, GL consistantly beat ATWT in demos even though it ran at like 9am in many markets. I agree the ATWT could have done better outdoors than GL. Goutman was skilled at outdoor work, but refused to do it all out. I have little doubt that he had to fight PGP for a lot during the final years.
