All Soaps: Were There Writers/Producers Who Disliked/Hated A Character?

Marland once stated in an interview that although he respected fans' devotion to Betsy and Steve's romance, he felt Steve was a "limited" character (his word, not mine).

Can you imagine if the Internet had been so common at the time Marland's Steve material aired.

"I hate the writing for Setsy/Beeve! I'm so sick of her propping Craig!!!"

Oh, but remember what Christopher Goutman said? We're but a small fraction of the audience, and our views don't matter in the long run. ;-)

For the sake of my blood pressure it's probably for the best I never read any of his interviews.

I say Victor mostly because he just had Vivian and Kate fight over an increasingly feeble Victor until finally Victor had a major stroke and was sent offcamera to a care home. Jennifer Aniston ended up going on TV and asking NBC to hire her father again. I can't remember what he did with Victor during his second run.

August 2003 - February 2004: Fighting with Nicole, killed by Jan Spears when she electrocuted him in the bathtub.

July 2004 - October 2004: Alive but held captive on an Island.

November 2004 - April 2005: Captive in a castle.

April 2005 - August 2005: Captive on another Island.

August 2005 - August 2006: In Salem but mostly off-screen.

Someone(Carl I think?) said Brad Bell didn't like the Spectras too much, I think I can see that after writing or killing them off!

I wonder if Bill Bell hated any of his characters. He transformed Nathan from a generally good guy into a villain there 1995/1996.

I'm too lazy to look back in the thread, have we already covered the mammoth size list of characters Bob Guza hated while writing for General Hospital?

LML hated Jack Abbott. It seemed like he was the blame for most things that went wrong and everyone talked about how horrible he was.

MAB doesn't seem to fond of Jill Foster and every writer after Bill Bell seems to hate Diane Jenkins.

JFP - Cassie

Robin Strasser would probably argue Dorian too, though I'm not sure where the line would be drawn between character and actor "hate".

Guza had contempt for every part of GH that wasn't his mobsters, IMO, but I think the only true hatred he felt was for Laura and AJ.

I usually put it down to actor hate. Otherwise Dorian would have been treated to JFP Story #534 about an older woman who was worthless until she learned to devote every part of her life to a younger, duh-faced man.
