I felt like JFP had a strong dislike or just lack of understanding for the Alexandra Spaulding character. She made Alex into a shrew, and took away anything else in her life. When Beverlee McKinsey left this got worse and worse and by the time JFP was transferred to AW, Alex was a shrieking plot device/meddler.

It seems like if JFP couldn't give powerful women stories about how the love of a good man saved them, she just was not interested.

Yeah, Ron hated Rachel, that's why he brought her back on contract. I don't buy that [!@#$%^&*]. I also don't buy that he hated Cris or Layla, as that era with them and Kish was probably Layla's only good story, ever. I'm not defending how they fell by the wayside for the Fords, that was disgusting as has been a lot of his choices, but IMO he did more with all of them in a limited timeframe than Y&R has done with its post-Rowell black canvas in several years.

I did think that some of the writing for Rachel was degrading, although that goes back a long way. I guess we'll never know what plans the show for her...

I don't know if Brad Bell has any issue with blacks or if he's just lazy and incompetent and scared of anything but the same four or five faces.

Oh, I forgot about that Donna/Donna thing where Anna Stuart had to go to the producer to complain about Donna Swajeski's bad writing for Donna Love.

Swajeski, whose work on AW I generally liked, also did a hatchet job on poor Nicole Love.

Margaret DePriest - wanted Frankie Frame dead.

The obvious, and most prominent, example is Matthew Ashford's Jack Deveraux on Days of our Lives.

Reilly hated MA/Jack as a leading man. So did Tom Langan. Peter Brash and Paula Cwigly obviously didn't care for him, although when Ken Corday gave them the order to reverse course they (to some extent) agreed to back down. Dena Higley seems to have hated him the most of all.

I still wouldnt say he hated her. Karen was great in the role and I wouldnt say her material was necesarily awful. It wasnt till KT took over that things went downhill and Tina was a joke and banished to being a day player. AE is a hard act to follow and while KW may have been Tina-lite, she was still very adequate for the role.

Marland once stated in an interview that although he respected fans' devotion to Betsy and Steve's romance, he felt Steve was a "limited" character (his word, not mine).

I suspect we would have had a few withdrawals next year if Israel had won. I don't think many people would relish going to Jerusalem as things stand now. Not to mention it would have been a prime target for terrorist attacks.
    • And they've given us plenty. Sets, outdoor scenes, music licensing, etc. And that was the point of me using DAYS... so. It's obvious the casino set is not intended for long-term use, hence why it's likely it wasn't as evolved as the other community sets, etc.

    • I just had thought of how to save the Perkins family. (Inspired by Rituals) -- What if Marisa Perkins was Augusta Lockridge's sister? Fictionally, they could've both been local girls, one married rich and one married poor. Originally, I was going to suggest that Marisa be Sophia's sister, but then I realized Joe and Kelly would've been first cousins.  Of course, it would've truly inspired Sophia was if Rosa Andrade sister, with Rosa and Santana moving in to help CC raise the kids once Sophia disappeared.  While this could've avoided both gross CC and Santana affairs, the times were not right for a story about intersectional inequity.
    • https://www.instagram.com/p/DJxW5DLJLId/ Another World is my forever favorite soap opera. But it's finale is almost universally hated by its fans. What this is, is an edit where I've deleted everything I didn't like!!!
    • The Perkins family had potential to be a nice alternative to the more dysfunctional Capwells and wackier Lockridges... but I think a few factors did in the family. 1) Recasting of Joe Perkins 2) Bad casting of the Perkins Patriarch, and the one note writing for that character. 3) Lack of antagonistic interaction between the Capwells/Lockridges and Perkins.  (There was no awkwardness between Jade/Ted.. or CC disapproving of his son being friends with that Perkins girl, etc). 4) Wasting of Jade thus wasting the potential of the actress (which was realized on Days of Our Lives).  She had more potential than Laken oddly enough. The only member of the Perkins family that had appeal and a somewhat thought out story arc was Amy.
    • @GymnastGuyThanks for posting the three new Capitol 1985 episodes today. The two labeled March 12, and 13 are misidentified. The March 12 labeled one actually aired November 12 1985 which I figured out because Kenny Rogers' movie Wild Horses aired November 12th and it was announced over the "March 12" Cap credits. In addition, Craig Carlson is listed in the April credits but not the March. Craig left Capitol sometime after July 1985 before he rejoined OLTL in the credits by October 15, 1985; he was replaced on Cap by Radcliffe and Hamner. In these posted episodes Radcliffe/Hamner names appear in the March 85 episodes but not in the April.
