I truly think its everything. Unions not agreeing, investors not seeing this as a good move at this time and some actors wanting to move on. Its no ones fault. Maybe just not the right time.

Love of Life Discussion Thread

I think that might be a typo. I've always heard of the character being referred to as Candy Lowe, not Love. Slick Jones' cast list shows the character as Candy Lowe.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)

I remember the Capice's leaving the show, but I don't remember the details. In fact, all these years I thought they just disappeared, rather than moving-away on camera. I do remember one scene that began with Nancy standing at her front door saying good-bye to Louise. But the audience saw Louise only from the back as she walked away. Louise didn't have any lines. I believe that was technically Louis's final scene, even though the actress (Mary K Wells) was not present. I could be wrong about that.
Since Phil Capice left a year before Louise, was Phil said to be still in Monticello, but just not on-screen? Or did he have a good-bye scene when Ray MacDonald left? I always believed Ray MacDonald left EON because he was cast in a much larger role on All My Children. But if your dates are correct, that is probably not the case.
One thing I've noticed about EON is there were an unusual number of adopted children, and relatively few pregnancies. Certainly fewer pregnancies than other 30-minute soaps. That seemed to change in the later years of the show. Perhaps TPTB thought having characters pregnant for 9-months prevented them from being involved in the action (murder, crime, mysteries), and that the audience might be uncomfortable seeing a pregnant woman being involved with that kind of danger. I'm just speculating here.

Here's a couple of more ideas:
It was HEAVILY implied when Claire came on the show that she had had a baby and gave it up for adoption. That connects Lucy to the Bauers through Michelle, as she would be her half-sister.
The other possibility that occurred to me is India. Never quite understood her maternal impulse for Dory. If she'd had a baby and abandoned her with her father, that might explain it.
Maureen being involved with Buzz is plausible because they grew up near each other. Though I have a hard time believing she would keep him being alive a secret from his kids.

From seeing 1970s episodes online and live back in the day, I recollect that the Karrs had a kitchen and dining room at one point. They may have even had a patio. If I’m not mistaken, I think Laurie’s ex Johnny disappeared with John Victor. It was nice to see Laurie state that JV was nine years old, meaning he wasn’t SORASed.
Yes, Marty Stillwater was Didi’s law partner. He first appeared during the Isis storyline in 1983 and then moved on to a strange story with his grandfather Standing Elk in early 1984.
As I recollect, Del was not a fan favorite. During Sharon Gabet’s Edge watch parties on Facebook, viewers hated the character. They especially hated seeing him in a relationship with Geraldine. I much preferred Gerringer in his roles on Texas and The Doctors.

It just seemed like an interesting coincidence if they were really exploring Lucy’s parentage that Reva has an instant-sister a few months later and learns of it while still married to Buzz. Buzz grifting an older woman wouldn’t have been out of character at that point though giving Hawk a secret daughter wouldn’t have been at all unbelievable.
It also has to be someone not actually on the canvas or Buzz would’ve known them. Roger having an unknown sister maybe?
Maureen having had a secret child offscreen would’ve perhaps been an interesting twist especially since Matt was seemingly involved in every story at this point and pulled A-M more closely into the Bauer fold without incest. Lucy/Bridget being cousins would’ve resurrected that abandoned friendship that I liked. It’s not dramatic per se but ties Lucy to a lot of the canvas through Matt and the Lewises/Vanessa don’t like/trust A-M.
Is there a viable Marler option? Lucy being related to Phillip and Ross would actually create the most drama for A-M I feel like. I know Sam’s too young and Jackie died too soon, right?
Making her Annie’s sister would’ve been possible and have some dramatic possibilities at that time especially since Lucy likely didn’t learn about being so trusting post Marian/Brent haha

Every time I come up with an idea of who Lucy's mother could be, it turns out she would be older than AM. 😭
I thought possibly Trish Lewis (though she wasn't on the canvas then). Maybe she met Buzz during the time her husband Andy Norris was making her life hell. Since he was abusive, that would have been a reason to let Buzz keep Lucy. Then Lucy is a Lewis and becomes Josh and Billy's niece.
If they DID want to do an incest story, Hope was off the canvas for almost a year before Elvera Roussel took the part. Hope wasn't totally a goody-two-shoes, she had a history of having affairs with older men, even before she met Alan. She could have met Buzz, got pregnant, and left the baby with him. But, alas, (or thank GOD), that would again have made Lucy a few years older than AM.
Maureen, maybe? She wasn't declared infertile until after her miscarriage. But was she dead by then? If so, doesn't add much drama, especially since so few Reardons were around.
