No I sort of get what you are saying Khan. Potentially Prospect Park was a shield for ABC/Disney and eventually they will get a favor of some sort for getting the "crazed" soap fans to leave ABC alone. Sometimes companies will take on a "losing" proposition for tax purposes...who knows...

I'm glad she addressed the situation as well, but at the same time, I think we should be careful about assuming that those involved are telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth when they do decide to speak. I'm not trying to imply anything, but I think we should take even the words of our "favorites" with a grain of salt. Everyone's looking out for #1 here and an astute public figure knows from what you need to know, what you want to know, what you don't need to know, and what they don't want you to know.

Very fair point.

The difference between Susan Lucci and Prospect Park is that Susan Lucci has 41 years worth of goodwill between herself and the viewer. La Lucci wouldn't put that goodwill at risk without reason. She has reason to be honest, she also has reason to lie. Prospect Park, on the other hand, has no relationship with anyone in the business and has nothing to lose by screwing over anyone.

I don't think ABC would go that far - they don't care about fan backlash enough to do all that. If they did they wouldn't have bragged about The Chew beating AMC.

From VI:

@whoopsidaisy86 Thx Kari. I also saw Jamey Giddens comments, which were terribly misquoted.

From Jamey Giddens

@VincentIrizarry Thanks for saying so, Vincent! The initial purpose of my tweet was to convey that David was essential to the story plans that Agnes/Lorraine projected for the online continuation.

Shameless fanboy moment, have been a huge fan since u were Gino in #LuckyChances and would never tweet lies about u Or anyone else.

From VI:

@Jamey_Giddens Thx man. Really appreciate it. Hope in time all Pine Valley dust will settle & we can all get bak 2 doin what we luv. AMC : )

Whoooooooooooooooooa, yeah, looking back, I definitely jumped the gun on that one, then. Please accept my apology for being a bitch smile.png

I still say that there's a huge difference between one who wants to be seen as a "journalist" letting his biases run free (and un-owned) and those of us who don't claim to be professional opinion-havers, though.

Apology totally and completely accepted. smile.png

I know what you mean about the "journalist" thing. You have a good point. I just think I have never taken Jamey, et al seriously.

Rolls eyes. And the sources who have been saying Lucci won't sign despite being offering the same pay (and in some cases saying she wanted more money), were just saying Erica was essential to the story plans.

That said, I will probably do an edit the article since VI did comment that to him Jamey's comments and the original quote weren't in the same league.

That claim that PP is a "shield" for ABC to dump the soaps is the most ridiculous conspiracy theory I have ever heard.

Well since deadline started that Susan Mess, Id ask Deadline

Deadline didn't have the only source that said that, my sweet Prospect Park apologist. I don't need to ask in either case because in particular with Susan Lucci and the sources, the translation of the spill is common sense.

I also think it reflects well on SuLu that she hasn't participated in any of this gossip or rumouring. It's a valid point that everybody lies, but the fact she seemed to realize now was a good time to release an even handed statement sure makes it easier to believe her.

While PP sure seems to be a badly handled company, I think it's even more paranoia than I can invest to suggest that they were somehow created by ABC to make soap fans leave ABC alone...

I think this was bound to happen with AMC. OLTL actors have it easier because they had more time for Prospect Park to develop plans and also the show is still on the air so there is only a small break between filming. If it's not up and running for a January premiere the actors would only have taken a month off and can go pursue other jobs. Besides, December is a dark period for TV so they'd be able to all focus on the holidays, worst case. Best case, it does start filming and they continue to make money while they see how it works out.

The AMC actors had a more difficult choice since filming ended during the summer. That's just too much time to expect them to wait with no guarantees or money up front to sweeten the deal for them. Imagine Jacob Young sitting around for five months waiting only to hear this news. Granted, he's not doing much on B&B, but he's still being paid well.

I agree to an extent although I think a lot of AMC actors do seem game, and haven't picked up steady work otherwise (that we know). I think as others have mentioned the fact that OLTL is in New York and staying there where there are relatively less acting jobs (theatre notwithstanding), And that AMC actors have already been burned--and the resentment about the move and quick cancelation seems to be really strong--I think that has been a much bigger deterent to actors than if they were simply meant to take a four month break.

Eh, I still think the Tweet meant exactly what people took it to mean.

IA. And he got what he wanted out of it and got to play the victim.VI was a gentleman and let it pass.

If anything it might have helped fuel Lucci making her stmt.
