Hey Classic, last note: The ONE thing that these women do not lack is self confidence. it's the one thing that motivates them to do the things they do. April cheating with the mayor - It's to get her rocks off. Val sleeping with her ex after literally debasing her - it's because she can, dammit! Keisha being a low class pimp - it's because it's a man's world and she's playing their game. No vulnerability, no flaws, no layers, no depth. I would rather these women's confidence or overconfidence (take your pick) were actually based in reality, rather than overconfidence in self denial. If I thought it was going to be addressed then great but judging by the previews for the entire season it's not. So instead of cheering them on and actually sympathizing with them, I find them extremely annoying precisely because of their disillusions in self grandeur. The show thinks it's cute, and to me, it's not. It's only been one episode so I'll give it a chance. I spoke to a girlfriend of mine and she absolutely loves the show. Her fave is actually Keisha. *shudders* LOL!

I didn't see that. If they are trying to depict confident women then I agree the message is lost. I see women who would like to be confident and try to act upon what they perceive as confidence but have much to learn and move way too fast for their own good. They need to work on insecurities that they have, Keisha tries to use her booty to symbolize she still got it but it seems that that's a mask for aging and not being that young girl anymore. Val may have compromised herself for a man and she has to get over that the right way, she got lost in those moments a few times. April err, I don't get her emotional issues yet right now it just looks like she married too young.

I'm surprised by some of the dialog on the show. I'm not offended by it but I was surprised that April's husband, immediately after sex, said when he was inside her he wondered where she was. Very risque for VH1. The show feels like a late night soft porn flick on cinemax. I wonder what's next for April. She only seems upset that she got caught and not because she cheated on a great guy. Val is well... Val, and Keisha is still doing her player thang. Why does Rick Fox show up on every single Black tv show.

I notice a lot of these new black shows like this and The Game want to be soaps, but they're afraid to commit and hold that title. The writing is also terrible. I wish they would've staffed this with a staff of experienced daytime soap writers. It would certainly imrpove the quality of these shows.

I wondered the EXACT same thing when I was watching that GH episode! I think it is him.

Enjoyed the second episode! I'm so glad the show isn't done with K.C! Stacey Dash and Tilky Jones light up the screen as Val and K.C Anyone else love them as much as I do? I really hope they end up being more than friends. I think Val should stop her dating search and just pursue things with him!

Loved the April drama. I thought the scene where Darryl confronted her for cheating on him was a little cringeworthy, though. LOL that Actor (Darryl) wasn't doing to hot to me.

Still not feeling Keisha but that love scene she had with Malcolm was HOT!

Did not see April being exposed this soon. That was fast but I guess that was needed to set her up as a single lady and recent divorcee.

I thought he did bring up his watch being stolen, he point blank asked Keisha if she stole it and she told him no. LOL

Agreed about Val, she's my fave to!! Stacey Dash is a good Actress and stunning to look at (I cannot believe she's 45!!)

I opened this thread not knowing what this was, and it sounds awful. I just don't know what this trend is all about with a never ending stream of shows about gaggles of girls defined by their matrimonial state. How many shows are there with "wives" in the title? I guess this is the opposite. And this seems to be a female only obsession. Are there any shows with the word "husbands" in the title?

blame Desperate Housewives. That show came out and blew up bc it was insanely popular. Since then, there's been a flood of 'wives shows and they've for the most part been relatively successful.

It's very soapy, I really enjoyed the "movie premiere" and episode two was just as strong. I hope the ratings are good.

The shows doing pretty well for VH1 so far, it averaged 1.8 million viewers it's first week, and then 1.9 million last week. It pushed ahead of Basketball Wives. Monday is a good night for VH1!

I have loved Stacey Dash from the moment I saw her in Clueless. She is stunning and a very good actress.
