That will be fun to watch later on! Thanks!

I know it's not the same, but I get exactly what you mean: As I was reading Warner's "One Life to Live" book, I devoured the year synopses and was totally fascinated by the stories happening. But as we started getting to the mid-80s (probably around '84) the stories' interest took a sharp decline (even in synopsis form). I started reading about doctor villains losing their hands to crocodiles and such. It's very clear the show became something different (some of the 90s sounded very good) and not for the better.

I know. La Courtney could do SO much better. Not to be mean, but I never found her husband to be in her league either. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say.

Yes, the quality of the storylines started to plunge as soon as Rauch descended upon Llanview in 1984. When he finally departed several years later, one critic sniped that the only thing he had NOT screwed up was the theme song. I guess now we know who was the real genius behind the success of AW in the 1970s: Harding Lemay.

The irony is I've read that ABC actually hired Rauch because they hoped OLTL wouldn't go the GH route and would be a sophisticated drawing room drama--like Rauch's AW was (I think the OLTL official trivia book says as much).  But Rauch was uninterested in that and wanted to go all out, doing his attempt at Hollywood blockbusters, etc.

I'm probably the rare individual who preferred Ellen Foley to Markie Post on "Night Court."  Maybe she didn't share the same kind of chemistry w/ Harry Anderson that Post did, but, hell, not every sitcom needed a Sam-and-Diane ("Cheers").

I think she was one of Lee Halpern Sanders/Carol Harper Dennison/Janet Zarish's DynaWomen, the woman's employment/escort agency run by Mari Lynn's mother/Charles Sanders's widow.

They were trying to devalue the Vernon Inn by having cops bust hookers at the Inn as well as gain information to blackmail their customers.

Come to think of it, Llandview had a rather seedy history filled with ladies of the night.

Thanks for that. The amount of effort that was put into a crap scene/idea/story shows just how hard people in front of and behind the camera work on a soap.

I didn't like the way Robin played Dorian for much of her last years on the show, way too hysterical. Now I see how much of that was a choice. Because when she was herself she was closer to the Dorian I would have preferred to see. Not this easily irritated old lady she became.

And more from that channel, not sure if it's been posted before, a tribute to long time OLTL director David Pressman:

Lots of behind the scenes stuff here. He was a legend and I didn't even know who he was until an hour ago.

I think Robin played Dorian too OTT at least half the time from 2003-onward. I think it was because she was very scared she'd be let go again - that really hurt her.

David Pressman had a cameo in a 2003 storyline, playing a Shakespeare-spouting homeless person Antonio and Jessica consulted re: Keri's death when Antonio was being blamed. He was not much of an actor, but I realized later that didn't matter - it was the show paying tribute to their beloved crewmember.

    • They are mentioning Aristotle Dumas in nearly every scene now.  Good Lord.  The poor actors must roll their eyes every time they get a new script.
    • BC played Jeffrey O'Neill, her last husband- the ninth.   Yes, April Fools Day 2009 is a date that will live in infamy for GL fans but I feel we all kinda expected it at that point.  The soap press reported that GA's return as Phillip was basically the show's final chance at getting the ratings up.  A Hail Mary if you will.  It didn't extend the show's life but it was fantastic to see Phillip back in SF where he belonged.
    • I think Alexa Havins has been polarizing. A large segment of fans love her and what she's done with the role, while others say she's a good actor but they hate the way Lulu is written -- as someone who interferes and is a harpy. I personally think she's been a terrific recast.
    • The perfect camp. And maybe it's regional? I don't recall seeing a "sponsored in part by..." tag during today's end credits, either, which is usually when I see the commercials.
    • Totally agree on TMG - perfect daytime camp. I always get Febreeze commercials, and did today. I wonder why you're not, that's odd.
    • Dipping my toes back in, and Leslie continues to be THE star. Girl has brought the same energy since day one. Anita has become tons more interesting when played with her former groupmates. Kat is such a massive disappointment. I can’t stand her.
    • this was a great episode. Leslie with Jacob was lol as were the scenes with Jacob/Kat.  I like that Eva is vulnerable at times. Makes it easier to like her. The writers need to do this with Dani more. (and Leslie). The Anita scenes were also well done.  Big credit to the writers today!

date: Thursday, June 5 | Christopher Dunn, Judy Tate | Michael V. Pomarico I love the way Vernon just observes Anita and knows exactly what's on her mind and yet still allows her to explain her way out of it all. He knows his wife. LAURA IS BACK AT WORK! I am very, very happy for you, and I love that Katherine, Mona, and Nicole are there to warmly welcome her back. It's been months! Uh-oh, Ms Dana, here comes the PD to raid your ass; I just wish Eva hadn't moved the helmet and gloves, because she could be caught NOW! Sharon continues to show how absolutely ugly she is with her nasty, distasteful attitude. Shame on her. Absolute shame. Dante Greene is the devil; a truly deplorable human being who clearly felt he could walk over someone without a care by luring the other three Articulettes with him via Anita. I admire that Anita is fully aware of things right now; she's considering everything: the positive and the negative. And with Vernon's support and wisdom, she's got this locked in. Oh, more backstory! There was a hiatus to mourn Barbara, and Anita did not come back. I hate to say it, but that does happen in real life. Choice to take a break, for whatever reasons, and you don't come back together. We've seen it before. I like how humble Eva is with her position at the salon and where she came from, especially in beginning as Nicole's assistant. I appreciate that Laura is struggling to transition back into her work space and that she's re-adjusting, with everyone giving her the grace she needs. I love that Jacob is not backing down to Dana and her attempts to "woo" him. YES ANITA! STAND UP FOR YOURSELF! Vernon saw what was coming and said, "I'm going to safety! This is for the women, not me," and he yeeted himself out of there. Katherine should have an office and a badge at this point; she's more than earned it. Oh, there is a slight flirt in Nicole's eye who is enjoying the continued run-ins with Ted; she's in love with him. And that isn't changing. Go on, Anita! You fight for yourself, girl! Speak the TRUTH! Oh, look, Eva and Laura. This is interesting. Very, very interesting. Notes: Febreze and no commercial; maybe it's only Tide that garners the commercials right now? Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana) continues to serve camp, but it's camp done right. It's not a comedy or a mockery; it's pure daytime camp. I wonder who they'll cast as Dante Greene if the role comes onto the scene. I appreciate them bracing the subject matter of suicide in a way that does not come off as... cliche or in poor taste. Tamara Tunie (Anita) is continuing to show up! I love this for her. A true matriarch and legend!
