I'll miss Erica, but La Lucci will be fine. She'll get a show on some cable network and continue to rake in the millions. I wish the rest of the cast and the crew all the best. Oh, we will likely get to see David Canary and Julia Barr one last time.

You are right. Duh. LOL!

Vee is right, soaps will be back some day, in some form. But the actors and characters I grew accustomed to seeing two or three times a week for decades won't be. I will miss Robin Strasser and Dorian, Erika Slezak and Viki, Bob Woods and Bo, and so many others. Heck, I still miss Vicky Wyndham and Rachel Cory. I've watched soaps through some pretty ghastly storyline stretches because I was invested in the people, not the plots. I can guarantee you I'll never feel that that kind of loyalty for "The Chew."

Well, if ABC shamelessly tries to capitalize on soap nostalgia in a decade or so and revive the brands in some format, and I bet they will, you may see some of these vets there to usher them in. But I think if our really beloved soap vets have any future it's in independent work from people who know and appreciate them. Usually that translates to "fanmade [!@#$%^&*]," but I think there is at least the raw potential for good work.

Will it happen? Probably not. But it could. You could do a little something.

“While we are excited about our new shows and the shift in our business, I can’t help but recognize how bittersweet the change is,” said ABC Daytime president Brian Frons. “We are taking this bold step to expand our business because viewers are looking for different types of programming these days. They are telling us there is room for informative, authentic and fun shows that are relatable, offer a wide variety of opinions and focus on ‘real life’ takeaways.

All My Children and One Life to Live are iconic pieces of television that have made an indelible mark on our culture’s history,” Frons continued. “Each of the shows has touched millions and millions of viewers and informed the social consciousness. It has been a privilege to work with the extraordinary teams who brought the residents of Pine Valley and Llanview to life each day, and we thank the cast, crew, producers and most especially the fans for their commitment to the shows through their history.”

What a load of BS......

We got until 2013, and I have already prepared that it will be the end than. Do you think we will get through 2012 without a cancellation? I can't believe that as a DAYS fan the show has survived all these other shows. It has been on the brink for years especially since Passions got the axe and NBC said DAYS was unlikely to continue pass 2009.

Wow this days sucks. I think I would be more shocked by this if I did not read a thread on this place everyday for the last three years about how all the soaps were about to be canned. Anyway time marches on. Even if it is sucky sucky marching.

    • I found it to be a rather odd way to deal with a character departing for parts unknown.
    • Today reminded me as to why I’m a little disappointed in the name that the new Pope chose

Luckily, EJ and Johnny, and pretty much every other character saved today’s episode.  I didn’t expect Javi to be the one to save Sarah though, and I don’t mind it at all, because if it means that Javi is finally going to get his own identity/character, away from his douchy bf, I’m all for it. Javi’s scenes would’ve been a lot better had it not been for him. EJ and Johnny were the best part of today. Their conversation hit a lot of important beats and I’m so looking forward to seeing them play out. And now that EJ knows that Johnny is going to work for Xander, that opens up another dynamic to their storyline and to the Kiriakis family storylines as well. Tying them all together could be really good. There are so many story possibilities that can come out of this. And I thought Carson Boatman did a pretty good job again too.  I also liked that Johnny was there to comfort Chanel after everything that happened with Sarah. They’re so good together. But I do have mixed feelings about Chanel possibly forgiving Johnny so quickly. Hopefully, the question that she asked him at the end of today leads to more conflict for the two of them.  And yeah, still no changes in Alex’s character lol
    • Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab this episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). I thought we had the full HD version of ep.3170 on the YouTube channel, but it appears they added the wrong episode but labelled it 3170.
    • I guess, according to Mike Manning in the Michael Fairman chat, he was almost Derek

    • That's a name I haven't heard in a minute. Thanks!
    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
    • I wonder whose brilliant (

) idea it was to do an almost complete rip-off of the "who killed Tom King"-storyline. That's some quality style writing right there.....
