From SOD:

Former Y&R Star Dead

Christopher Templeton, who played Jabot's loyal secretary Carole Robbins Evans from 1983-93, passed away on February 15, in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 58. Templeton battled polio her entire life. "I worked with Chris a lot," says Eileen Davidson (Ashley). "I had so much respect for her. She was a very talented actress, very professional and had a terrific sense of humor. She also made it difficult to believe that she had a disability." I'm sorry to hear about this. I always thought she was an inspiration and something which is rarely done on TV - this woman who, like many disabled people, goes about her work, with little fanfare. I also thought she was a good actress. I hope the show might mention her.

Oh, man. That's way too young. I remember loving Carole, Jack's ever faithful secretary.

This is very Sad :(.... and it breaks my heart that she mentioned that she wished TPTB used her more at Y&R. I do too hope she is mentioned on the show sometime in the furture.

Was Carol ever officially written off or did she just vanish? Was she on after the baby storyline-back in the office ,with the assumption that Skip and the baby were also around?

:( I'm saddened because Templeton was a unique soap actress not to mention a good one too. It's a shame she didn't more story because the stories she did have were fascinating and one of a kind--finding acceptance, starting a family etc. Most certainly a cutting edge character and issues for daytime to tackle. Though judging from clips I've seen I think Skip unfortunately started off as one of Cricket's many love interests from the late 80s.

May she rest in peace, from her website she always sounded like a great lady.

I've always wondered this too. I swear I once read Carol had been widowed after Skip died in a motorcycle accident but have never, ever found confirmation for this so I doubt it. From her later work Carole was working as Victor's secretary before the Connie Wayne character came on. (I don't know what happened to Connie either although the second actress to play her became famous on the Disney Channel.)

PS absolutely stunning too:

This is so sad to hear. She was a great actress, and really added something new and different to the canvas. Here is the beginning of an August 1990 episode where she is in the opening:

I remember her from when I watched Y&R back in the day. I always enjoyed her. It really would be nice to hear her mentioned on the show. She really was a nice sight on a show with "perfect" people. I agree with the above 100%. RIP.
