I don't get why they have her speak to the camera in the first scene if she doesn't from then on. It's like watching Fl instead of Fleabag.
The show was watchable, but the split doesn't work. You have the workplace setting, with the generic colleagues and Cesar Romero (one of the most naturally charming performers) saddled with a creeper role. Then you have her family life, which is even stranger, with a mother who is more at home on The Goldbergs while her sister is a discount Brenda from Rhoda.
I know Ann Jillian's career was curtailed due to her cancer, but I wonder if she would have struggled with roles no matter what. She was beautiful and had presence, but was too direct an actress to play the dumb parts which actresses like this would normally play.
